Man, you should get some kind of award for this. Wow. The time and the effort to compile and do this is serious. MUCH appreciated.
Damn reet! Thank you!!
Honestly, the reward was in the doing itself! Definitely a passion project that I can't be happier to share with others.
Beautiful job!
Agree.. Been watching this for the nth time...
Tony, before he was a drummer, he was a “composer”: Each note and sound was displayed in furtherance of the composition. Tony began to evolve beyond his musical settings and found that the only musicians that could play with him were Miles and Herbie. A man in constant search of new musical challenges.
Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of his passing. It's hard to believe it's been that long, but Tony transcends and his incredible work will live on forever. Thank you hugenmatt for putting this together, and RIP to the greatest drummer ever.
Well said.
My favorite drummer of all time. Best ever in my opinion
If we're talking just a guy at a drum set playing music by himself and engaging the listener - for sure. No one else really comes close. Maybe Steve Gadd. Ginger Baker had moments.
Me too....
F1 tornado alarms starts ringing every time one of his solos being reproduced online. FORCE OF NATURE!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to do this. It's important we document these musicians and the remarkable creativity they embody.
I am new to Tony Williams and this is the first younger stuff I've seen. I absolutely love hearing the resonance out of those older more traditional kits.
Listen to Tony on the "Four And More" live album with Miles. He was only 17!
INSANE INSANE!!!!!!
A poet, a motor, a re.inventor of drum and modern conception of rhythm!!!
Tony you are IMMORTAL!!!!
Happy Birthday to the late great god of the drums Tony Williams! 12/12/1945. You are so missed❤️
A man who moved the ball forward on the drums.
Tony made the drums TALK like no other. He is sorely missed.
This great mans last album with Hancock, Brecker, metheny and Stanley Clarke was a monster piece of inspiration.’RIP mr Tony Williams 🙂.
Gone but never forgotten 🙏🏾
Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Astonishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arguably the best Drummer of all time.
The Power of 16th notes👊🏾
King of the drum set, always and forever.
Still waiting for the documentary on one of the worlds greatest drummers.
Wish I had 1/8 of Tonys talent. What a natural genius!
i was born 1964 just in time for ringo and modern jazz,,,,love it all lifetime
That second solo is so powerful, it's crazy.
Thanks.What an innovator
I know you have put your heart in to the power house of jazz. Tony rip.
Just a great thing...a labour of tubs for sure...man Tony hit so hard...⚡️🌈 an avant-garde purist...just wonder and Beauty.Bright Moments
YES!! THANK YOU! You will get at least a thousand views from me alone! Awesome job finding and putting this together.
You did such a service to the music and drumming world by putting this compilation together! Bravo!!!!
Well you came along way since the first Mahavishnu VHS you gave me lol. This is awesome.
True true! It has been a fun journey.
Can't stop watching it!! 🤣Nice problems
This is a FABULOUS collection of Tony Williams in his prime. OMG! Kudos to whomever put this together!
Tony Williams Wilderness ! A masterpiece !
What a force of nature. Thanks for the upload.
The best musician-drummer ever lived
Bad ass I’ve seen so much Tony in one clip!
Great compilation video thanks. Tony is the greatest.
Great stuff. Need to remember that everything Tony was doing was new and not exactly played before and dissected on RUclips. He was incredible.
What a compilation jesus. Just searching for my usual Tony tunes and this pops up. Much appreciated.
Echo is one of my favorite Anthony Williams solo (on Spring LP)
What a great innovator and genius every time I watch this master I learn something. thanks for the compilation.
This is just fabulous. Thank you for making it...posting it. I'm 65, a classical pianist/violinist, Jazz guitarist that has been exploring drums for two weeks. I knew about Tony from when I was at Berklee in 76 and heard his album "Lifetime" with the late, great Alan Holdsworth. So now I'm going back and checking out the great drummers I've known of. Tony is up there on my list of unique, timeless, talents.
I can't thank you enough for this. Tony has been a constant inspiration to me throughout my drumming life (I'm 67 now, and first heard "Seven Steps to Heaven" when I was 12. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
1:29:41 that section is like so beautiful. Around 1:30:16 ba-BUM ba-BUM, ba-BUM ba-BUM between the two ride toms Incredible. So musical.
Numero 1 assoluto!
Thanks very much for the great upload. No more searching 😃
Thanks for watching and enjoying.
thanks for this,..inspiring......give thanks for Tony williams.....
Creative Artistry at its finest. Not only were his expression of notes phenomenally profound, but the brilliantly clever use of space between his notes gave the power to his sound that still moves us today!
thanks man....sending this to my older brother.
Millions of thanks !!! You're THE man !!! Big salute from France !!!
Such a fantastic drummer and musician!
Thank God he recorded as much as he did, so we have tons of stuff to listen to forever...
Thanks, this is really a great collection you came up with...
And great quality too.
I just put the pieces I already had together. It was a lot of work, but, amazing and fun too.
@@hughenmatt : the video quality was generally great - I don't know anyone who has a clear copy of the Steve Allen clip - and these are relevant clips. Thanks!
GENIOUS IN ACTION
Thank you brother Matt!!!!
This must have been a lot of work. You're saving us a lot of clicks and search, thank you!
Beautiful job man.
It took a lot of effort and time, but, it was a labor of pure love.
@@ghart56 Thank you.
@@hughenmatt best drum collection ever.... no more clicks-search....Thank for the upload. Great Job...
Damn reet!
None better. Thank you Tony Williams!
Wicked. Probably the best to ever do it.
Terrific!! Thanks
Again thank you many years of enjoyment🎉😊❤
13.17 with Chick Corea does it for me every time….
That solo is so locked into the music, and totally off the charts by any standards still to this day… straight up flams over a single pedal bass for the lead in and then ‘kabam’ let it rip….
My life has never been the same since my teacher, back in the day, encouraged me to listen to Tony … blew my mind … needed therapy ever since … and the look on Stan Getz at the end, captures the moment … R.I.P Tony, you are my idol …
Thank you for putting all this great material together. 🙌🏻👍🏻
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you VERY MUCH for doing this!!! I've been thinking for a while that there needs to be more video of Tony on youtube. So much to learn.
Thank you for posting this. A true treasure of Tony's solos and playing. Love this, thank you!!!
Great compilation of a master drummer/musician. Thank You!
Tony was my favorite drummer.I saw him at The Quiet Knight in Chicago with Lifetime , and Alan Hodsworth

Grande Tony ❣️R.I.P🙏
Superb compilation!!!
Wonderful. Thank you.
Thank You
Like Lenny White ; John Marshall or Joey Baron he was a "melodist" who created a new report between the musician and his instrument
Thank you for this incredible collection, just shows how incredible TW really was. Amazing.
Beautifully done, big thanks. Long live the King.
What an amazing drummer.. How his wrist never hurt like hell I don't understand. Tony used so much finger control when playing gently, but when he bashed boy was it crazy
Absolute GOAT.
this is really awesome
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH
and GOD BLESS YOU
Well Tony Williams is a master drummer genius percussion.
Bless you brother for this 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
2:15:33 In 1994 Tony Williams signed with DW Drums. Unfortunately 3 years later he passed away.
Liked last few of the solo interludes. Thank you.
everytime there's a close up of his hands, I stop breathing, stop blinking and I watch to learn.
Thank you so much for uploading this video!
Awesome!
If you are aware of subdivisions and all the note values, including 5's and 7, then you have insight into Tony's style. The other thing is that he knows his rudiments.
Thank you, Ralph, for taking the time to comment, but more importantly, thank you for your immense contributions to the world of drumming as well!
Thank you, this is so great...
Thank you for this footage of my hero. I see a documentary….
Thank you for your efforts! Amazing!!
Thank you. Immensely
2:29 5, 6 - Jean luc Ponty - August 1972 - Paris, France
Awesome video, thank you for making it.
This shit better not get taken down
I removed some footage to appease the copyright claims. Unless my account is terminated, this will stay up. I recommend grabbing a video downloader and keeping a copy for yourself.
@@hughenmatt thanks man.
@@hughenmatt what was left out? Copyright?
@@ghostandbell2006 Paris 1971 is all I can remember at the moment. It is # 3 & 4 on the list.
This makes me miss TW. There will never be another.
Gracias por esto!! 🙏🙌💪

Excelente compilación, gracias Hugh!
Los bateristas de jazz están infravalorados respecto a los del rock/heavy.
Thank you so much !
