FPV Drone Simulator Fix for Windows 10 Update and Frsky Taranis USB Connection

After a Windows 10 update my FrSky Taranis would no longer work with Velocidrone or AirSim. In the video I cover AirSim, but this fix applies to any FPV drone simulator that supports USB connection with a FrSky TX.
This was a royal pain to figure out, but a shout out to Painless 360 for giving me a kick start in the right direction:

The key is if you can't rollback your Windows 10 USB driver then you should "update" it to a previous version. Then you should see your Taranis show up in the list of USB gaming controllers.
I hope this saves someone out there a bit of time.

Dude, you're a legend! This is the quickest driver fix I've found! Usually its a few hours of dicken around and unsuccessful attempts, but this was super straight forward! I'll be saving this video for the next time this inevitably happens... god damn windows

I don't see that "libusb-win32 devices" under device manager, any ideas why? my Taranis Q x7 is switched on and plugged in. I do see an exclamation mark left of "USB Input Device" under "Human Interface Devices" but it doesn't let me roll back the driver. its geyed out. any suggestions?

Important tip for some perhaps!: make sure in the main menu of taranis, the usb connection mode setting is on joystick.
Mine was for some reason set on storage. Could be that i had set it a year ago when i last had it in my hands, but i dont remember ever having looked at that particular setting before, plus i had windows 7 back then.

Please help. I cannot get my taranis to show under game controller.
Under Device manager I only get it as a USB input device under "Human Input Device"
I also don;t see any LIB USB
Under "Other Devices" I get FRsky Taranis Seral Port
Under "Ports" I get a USB Serial Device (COM6)
Date 3 May 2022 WIN10
JUST Found my solution :First Make sure your Taranis is in Joystick mode .
To do this go into RADIO SETUP
Scroll down until you see USB Mode and change to JOYSTICK

If I start velocidrone without the taranis plugged in, and click on quick start, the game starts and is stable. If I start velocidrone with the taranis plugged in and quick start, the video is jumpy, shuddery, basically unplayable because of the jerkiness. Any suggestions? Ever seen something like this. 4 months ago before a bunch of windows 10 updates, this machine ran velocidrone perfectly.

Ok so for me there is no libusb device on the device manager at all.. i had the radio working perfectly up till yesterday (havent done anything to it) i can get the driver back through action and adding legacy hardware but then i cannot roll it back and updating it doesnt help... im so confused

No Matter what I do, every time I plug in my Taranis I get a "This device is not recognized" from my PC. I have tried getting the Correct driver with no luck. It just says it is unrecognizable. Any Advice?

I'd try a different cable - yours might be a charging cable with no data connection....

The cable for some reason was the problem. I have plugged the same cable into my computer a million times, but for some reason it just didn't work. After I got a new cable it worked.

Hi, I got following problem: when I plug my QX7 there is no Libusb showing up in the device manager but at the very bottom I got SMT32 Bootloaderas device. If I want to update the driver there, I cant select USB Input device. This is driving me nuts for weeks now, I have to get my SIM running before weather is getting bad ;) thanks for your help in advance

@@b-rod1498 hey, I updated my windows to the latest version, since 3 weeks or so it is working continously. I always plug the cable first in the taranis that is powered on, then to the computer. Hope that helps
