I've done this with our barred rock chicken. She likes it. Had to feel good . A towel is good for traction at the bottom of tub. It took a long time to dry.
I have to clean my chicken Cupcake's bottom tomorrow. I'm happy to watch this. With the Kentucky heat I think it will feel good and won't have to blowdry.
Thankyou so much for this..I have happily gained my next door neighbours chicken..she's elderly and until joining us was alone ☹️ she has a big poopy but and it must feel so horrible..I found your video and shall get all I need to bathe and clean her..thankyou! 😊
Thank you for posting this it helped because I felt like you were there instructing me and making me confident while I got ready to clean off my barred rock's bottoms.
Also, I read somewhere else that worms are attracted to the caked poop when they sit on the ground...so yeah, I learned the hard way you don't want this to happen.
I tried an epsom salt bath first time and it was a slow messy process. Now I just put her in my shower stall (with glass doors) and use my hand held shower head to rinse that nasty stuff off. Never thought to use gentle puppy shampoo so I’ll try that next time! Thanks for posting this so I know I’m not the only one w/ poopy but Barred Rock girl. Why this happens only to the fluffy butt barred’s ? My Roadie Red doesn’t have this problem. “Laverne” loves the blow drying part of the process 😂
I just run my chickens butts under the tap in the laundry and sponge it off. If you want to immerse them say for an epsoms salts bath then a deeper rectangle bucket that is full of warm water is better.
We just cleaned two of our girls again this past weekend. If it's warm enough outside, you don't need to use the dryer! We also found that using a watering can with warm water in it worked really well! Next time we aren't going to put any water in the bin and plan to just pour warm water over the area with the watering can. Hope that helps 🙂
Thank you for cleaning your hens and be nice to them :-)))
by bringing the red Solo cup, it made me realize to have a cup handy for the rinsing!
We've started using a watering can! It works pretty well!

Adding a towel to the bottom of the tub is a great idea! Simple but effective. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't worry about blow drying with the warmer weather! Hopefully it went well today.

Thank you. I have to do this to Snow White (leghorn )it’s cold here in upstate NY in December.
Have fun!!
I washed my chicken with Epsom bath after I cleaned her butt and she made a total recovery along with the ACV and yogurt.
Did you ever think married life would include cleaning chicken butts?
Definitely didn’t see us being here 5 years ago, but we wouldn’t have it any other way 🙂 -Elaina
⭐️🌟⭐️🌟Butt spa day‼️‼️‼️🤣😂🤣😂🤣
If I could give you two thumbs up I would. My girl would not have sat still it would have been a constant flapping, unfortunately I didn't raise them.
Who would have thought that poopy butt would make for great content 😂
Thanks, this was the video we needed as have one that needs a clean-up.
Thank you for this video. Our Barred Rock, aka Rocky, just started having this problem. You explained it very well.
Glad it helped!!
New chicken parents very helpful thanks
We do it, so I don't see why animals can't be clean too. I have to clean My cats bottom too. Good on you. I bet lots don't bother.

🤓🤓🤓
Always good to know what to look for! 😆
Looks like I've got to do this with one of my lovely Sussex Girls!
Ah good luck! They will surely appreciate it after the fact even if not during 😅
Thank you! I’m dealing with some poopy butts too!

Ahh so it wasn't the water my chicken was afraid of, it was because she had no grip.
That definitely could have played a role! Next time we have to clean her we are going to put something in the bin to keep her from sliding.
i have to go catch her and get this done...
Holy cluck....i'm a year late....i think sweedes farm brought me here???????
🤣 I guess this is where the YT algorithm takes you late at night!
The problems it's they have worms when the poop it's dirty they need more care then a bath....😉❤
Have you ever had to deal with one of your hens with a prolapsed vent?
No I haven't heard of that! Best of luck with your situation though
WHAT CAUSES POOPPY BUTTS ??
What a sweet girl 💖
We think so too 😊
Lol
First time 😆
