Ha-ha, farewell my X79 setups since 2019 (first edit. - E5 2640+Kllisre X79M3+16Gb DDR3 2133 MHz+RX570 4 Gb, later it grown to E5 2689+Machinist V2.82+32Gb DDR3 2133 MHz+RX5700XT). Those were pretty capable somehow, especially with such a price. Few weeks ago I've shifted to AM4 (R5 5500+Jginyue B550I+16Gb DDR4 3600MHz+RX5700XT) - difference is big, I love my new setup. Great work and for taking the time to do a deep dive into the V4 CPU.
It's hard to argue against the performance of the Ryzen, especially given that it's so close in price to the old Xeon platform. I think the few remaining things the X99 has going for it is support for massive amounts of quad channel memory and a ton of PCIe connectivity (even though it's only Gen 3).
For me personally, I've been considering getting an X99 platform with either a 2690 v4 or 2698 v4 for home lab purposes since it's by far the cheapest option even compared to older Threadrippers. Looking forward to seeing productivity benchmarks since that'll be my primary / only use case 🙌

Ive used x99-P4 with 2660V3 turbo unlocked with out issue
X99-D4 PLUS woth 2697V3's also turbo unlocked with out isssue(besides cpu being limited to 3.4ghz woth 14c active and 3.6ghz with 10c active)
*long term testing* build my classmate a pc with E5-2690V3(turbo unlovked 3.5ghz) 4x8gb dual rank ddr4(3600mhz sticks runing at 2133 cl11)

@@Morrow420 the 3060 ti is like 30% performance over the regular 3060 so depending on what upgrade you go for that might be fine, I also game at 1440p. the 2699 v4 is a nice upgrade as long as you play games that really support multicore cpu's, many still like higher clocks over cores at six to eight cores. I personally think my next upgrade will be a consumer chip, but that might be a few years away since I'm currently content with what I got

So far, I haven't experienced any stability problems.

The E5-2697A V4 turns out to be more interesting than the 18-core E5-2697 V4. The E5-2697 V4 for was the biggest disappointment for me at LGA-2011v3, it has too much reduced frequency on all cores.

Yeah, V4 in general is disappointing in terms of frequency. V3 would be a pathetic disaster as well but TBU saved it.

please get intel b580 and test with 2680 v4.
the b580 is slightly stronger than the nvidia 4060 and im only showing a 11% BN for CPU intense tasks ON 1440p.
i think were 100% fine with 2690 v4 and b580 but if you could test that would be great...
bc thats the best budget 1440p gaming if the 2680 v4 can work with the b580....

Perhaps these Xeons could be better tested with Hypervisor/VM setups. These CPUs are popular for home servers.
Id personally like to see these comparisons with VMs using the Proxmox hypervisor!
I currently have the Asus X99 IPMI board with an e5-2697 v4. I'm interested in a board with dual 2667 v3 CPUs, turbo unlocked (if possible).

TBU is very problematic with anything but Windows as far as I know. Testing Proxmos I couldn't even get it to boot with TBU, it would lock at startup. Dual socket solutions are designed for a few niche use cases and I don't recommend it for most of the users.
