Ken Hensley was one of the most underrated musicians in the history of music. He wasn’t Jon Lord - but he was a great keyboard player. He wasn’t Mick Box - but he was a really good guitar player - especially on the slid guitar. He wasn’t David Byron - but he was a very good vocalist. And he wasn’t Bob Dylan but he was a fantastic song writer. He was the ULTIMATE secret weapon of Uriah Heep. Not a front man but the person who wound the clock. An absolute GREAT musician.

Byron did a nice job with this on the Heep album but this is not Byron singing; it's Ken, on his solo album, which is what I noted in caption and which is why I chose this for his tribute video.

Yes, I specifically picked this song for my tribute to Ken when he died, since I bought Hensley's first solo album in 1973 and was surprised and interested to hear his version of song I loved so much on Heep album. My friend was one of Ken's best friends and Ken's brother thanked me for putting this together and posting it.

But as I wrote on the title page of this video, this is Ken's own later re-recording a few months later for his first solo album Proud Words on a Dusty Shelf for which Ken himself is singing the vocals, which is why I chose this version for this tribute

I did too, at first, just because I heard it first and was used to it, and of course Byron's voice is excellent. But Hensley has a few little variations in vocals and arrangement in his version here that have grown on me. And it's so close and similar, and after all, I produced this as a tribute to Ken, not Byron or Uriah Heep.
