I was 13 when I heard this song on the radio (June '94), and something about the chord progression made me almost cry--typical reaction to some of Per's songwriting! "Spending My Time" was another one that almost made me cry. I got obsessed with SIMC! My mom took me to buy the single--my first ever! :P I was listening to the words, and, because I was a late bloomer (slow to understand and appreciate sex and romance), had very little idea of what it was actually saying! Good times :) I still love the song!
Remember when at the end i listened It for first time in a MTV video, a recorded the sound with a recordtape, the Next day, in a travel with a Friends, play the song in the bus radio, and WoW, everybody was excited, what a memories, LOVE hoy guys, miss you marie
hello Per! My brother, so many years listening to your songs. A big hug, Greetings from Chile! South America. always in my mind your songs and your sympathy, dedication and talent in memory! . Cris.
"Sleeping In My Car" is what Crash, boom, Bang is all about! It's an unabashed Crash Boom Bang that really has some great lyrics for being completely unashamed about doing everything to "get it" in a way that is more sensual than sexual. Always loved the line "The night is so pretty and so young!"
So glad they changed the key to suit Marie's voice. Marie did a kick a** job on the final version, so it's interesting to listen to this unfinished demo (even Marie had not quite finished singing 😆). And I love how Per can just "whip up" a song especially when he needs it. Now that's genius inspiration for you. ❤️ 👍 Always loved "Run To You" and "Fireworks" but it never hurt to add yet another hit like SIMC to the CBB album. 😉
And it turned out to be one Roxette signature song. It could have easily been performed by Green Day or The Offspring but Marie's voice definetely makes the song powerful.
"Sleeping In My Car" became my Top 1 Roxette song and it's always weird and fun to listen to The Stockholm Demo, I just don't like the abrupt ending, when Marie is still in the mood to "undress you", hahaha... BTW, it's always interesting when Per talks about C!B!B! being full of potential singles and then FIREWORKS emerges in the talk. I still need an official Roxette compilation with it, oh please! (The Don't Bore Us VHS doesn't count!)
I remember how you blew the ice arena in Saint Petersburg in 2001 with this song. I was 16, Scorpions had played a week or so before your show, but Roxette show was on completely different level👍🏼. Btw, you can compare how many people came to your show (and on Scorpions). As a musician and a big fan I want to mention a tribute by you guys and Petra Marklund that happend a year ago. It was awesome, something fresh and different happend. It was magic. It would have been great to see you again together on stage.
That guitar riff is one of the most iconic riffs of the 90s and the sound is extremely catching, I don't believe he can't remember how he got that sound
"Sleeping in my Car" is my second favorite song _ever._ (For the curious, number one is "Fading Like a Flower".) I know a lot of other Roxers like the ballads, but the more up-tempo songs are what got me into Roxette in the first place. And you should have _SEEN_ me bopping around in the car like a madwoman the first time I put the cassingle into the tape deck. From the title, I expect a ballad--"sleeping", y'see--and how pleasantly surprised I was! Such a great song; it's in nearly every playlist on my phone.

I loved that track, although its not a typical Roxette melody. And i LOVED Marie's new look on the video!
One of my favorite songs.
Love this track to this day. One of the reasons i learned guitar

*_GREAT_*
I agree with Per. I can hear lots of singles on the CBB album. Tho I would have preferred I'm Sorry to be a single instead of Vulnerable.
Was there ever a more radio-friendly song than Sleeping in My Car?
I think even in today's world, Sleeping In My Car would hold up and not sound dated at all.
Its their best song !!
😍😍😍😍😍❤
