Loved Renegade and Target Renegade. Had then for the speccy. The satisfactory crunch of the knee to the balls ... nostalgia. Only regret was I was too young to appreciate my luck of growing up in a wonderful era.
Absolutely! It holds so much nostalgia for me being a kid playing this. We really had the best days for quality written game music. I am nearly 41 now and love to go down the road of listening to old C64 and Amiga game music. It will never leave me. Thanks for the comment man! :)
Steve Sharples Well said! It's strange though, I remember 100's of tunes from the C64/Amiga era but I hardly don't remember the music from the modern games I play nowadays. It's like the limitations of the technology "forced" the musicians in the past to create better or more memorable melodies. And thank you as well for your comments. Have a nice weekend! :)
That's exactly what it is! Now days creative imagination has become limited, it's a shame because I think people really need go back to basics when it comes to writing a memorable tune. I know there are a few still out there that do it but it's becoming a lost art for sure. Thanks man have a great weekend too!
Hi, the speccy version of this game ruled but the c64 music really was the daddy for this game. I have to say the "weeeooowww" part of this music does not sound right, this must be a pc emulator?! I have uploade the game including the full title music of this game on my site, i recorded it directly from my actual c64 so you know it's the real deal. check it out and see what you think :-)
De los mejores juegos para el Amstrad CPC. Movimientos muy suaves, diferentes golpes y un nivel de adicción alto . En mi blog realicé un pequeño análisis del juego con mapas y algunos videos. Not only does the C64 version sound great but that super smooth frame rate is amazing too. Speaking as a C64 and ST owner, I never understood why the ST seemed to have such poor frame rates compared to the humble C64.
Although its 4 years later, let me inform you. The reason was 'raster interrupts' on the video chip. ST didnt had such capabilities, on the contrary with the C64 and the Amiga. Plus the C64 had bus mastering in the system bus, hardware sprites, and smooth scrolling capabilities with the excellent Vic II, while the ST had the shitty Shifter chip. I've had both machines too.
angelesoinsectos Jonathan Dunn did the music for Renegade 3. :) Gary Biasillo did the music for Target Renegade. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Biasillo Jonathan Dunn did the loading music though (Ocean loader 4) but that has nothing to do with this song.
There seems to be a bit of a confusion over this, since they're both credited in spectrum and amstrad versions, but considering how much it resembles Dunn's style in other of his creations like Platoon, I'm inclined to think it was more his work on this. Anyway, I did a remix on this song that stuck with me since I was a kid ruclips.net/video/y1Uw2F6l18E/видео.html
angelesoinsectos Yeah I agree, the style is definitely a bit "Dunnish". Dunn should have been credited for the loading music though. I just think they somehow forgot to credit him in the C64 version. 🤔
It's rings back fond memories listening to the music and reading the kind comment. I can confirm that I composed all the music, originally on the C64 and then converted them to the AY chip for the Spectrum and Amstrad. Jon Dunn composed the loading music and ported the music for the Spectrum 48k "buzzer".
@@GariBiasillo I stand corrected then! Didn't expect to find out from you, lol. Thank you for your fantastic work, I'm 46 now but can't help to travel back to my childhood whenever I listen to it again!
Bonjour je recherche ce jeu vidéo sur Internet . J'ai acheté et adoré ce jeu de combat de rue . Y'aurait t'il des applications de ce jeu , gratuitement ? Merci d'avance pour ce jeu Target Renegade .
Ocean/Imagine so nailed the c64 musically. As soon as I hear it I'm in my childhood, and my god the loader music just ruled everything.
fucking music is awesome.... spooky and some how captures the 80s in all its perfection

Suggested next stop: Wasted Years, Iron Maiden
best chip tune ever
That honour would have to go to Terra Cresta for me
+Huddison Terra Cresta was awesome.
+gaywest4298 It was/is a musical piece of art.
+Huddison The game over tune, especially.
I have to agree with you. My fave c64 tune
Other than the legendary Last Ninja 2 soundtrack, this was the best soundtrack for any game on the C64 in my opinion.
Steve Sharples I totally agree. The Last Ninja 2 and Target Renegade music is among my favourites from the 64. Oh and the title music for Golden Axe.

One of the most capturing chiptunes ever created 🔥 epic! Thanks, Gari!
Gary Biasillo, master of the C64 SID chip sound.
Fantastic tune. Used to love this game on my Amstrad, but listening to this on the C64 used to make me sick with envy.
ditto. The old CPC was equal to C64 in many ways, but definitely not soundwise.
one of the best music versions of this amazing game!
Can you imagine this with a full orchestra Old but still alive 2024.
One of my all time faves - very moody and atmospheric tune
This Titel music is awesome :D
yeah awesome tune ^^
A very melodical tune. Fine!
I had the Commodore 64 loved the tunes
Still got the 64 in the closet. No idea if the old tapes work anymore. :) But yeah, great tune from a great game.
Would love to Buy it Off Somebody
Awesome 😊
really nice chiptune :)
Happy memories ....... I'm happy ;)

Good job, it would be perfect to have a rock version for my remake :)
(Buen trabajo, sería perfecto tener una versión rock para mi remake :)
OM G this nails it... WAUW

Gary Biasillo, may I convert the ringtone into the ringtune?
busted so many nus to this

@@Nick-GR Thanks, I always wondered what was up with that! 😅
That surname - I guess he's Italian?
Music was composed by Jonathan Dunn
Edit: My bad! It was Gari Biasillo!

C64 is a serious toy for rich Pinochet

@mrdeadguy1 the music or ... ?

This music is soooo good. I even began doing a cover on this a long time ago. I hope I will finish it one day :D soundcloud.com/olle-segerbaeck/target
