  • Will Tiger Ever Contend In A Major Again?
Tiger Woods struggled again at the Open Championship, shooting 79-77 to miss the cut in his third straight major - he has withdrawn or missed the cut in six of his last major starts over the past three years. He also made it clear that he simply can’t get the reps in to prepare for majors without risking injury.
That makes us wonder - will the 15-time champion ever contend in a Major again?
The talent is still there, but his body simply can’t handle the grind of a full week at a major championship.
Woods had arrived at Royal Troon adamant that he will play as long as he feels he can still win, shunning former world No 2 Colin Montgomerie’s suggestion he should consider retiring. Now after his early exit from The Open, he vowed that he will return for the 153rd edition of the major at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.
This season marks the first since his 2021 car crash that Woods has competed at all four majors - but again, he didn't really contend in any of them. And, given his recent performances, it's unlikely we'll see him fighting for the title in a Major ever again.
⛳ What's Next For Tiger? Tiger Woods didn't take long to get back from Scotland to Michigan - he boarded a plane to get back to the United States to help his son Charlie begin preparations for his first USGA Championship.
Charlie Woods, 15, shot one-under 71 last month in South Florida to qualify for the championship, one his father won three straight times from 1991-93.
Tiger was spotted walking the fairways in Detroit with Charlie and Davis Ovard, who just finished his freshman season of college at Baylor in Texas. Charlie is grouped with Ovard and Chase Kyes the first two rounds.
