3:48 That is an interesting concept about how Dungeon master's great powers work, he implies that he can not simply create something out of thin air but rather he draws from things within the world potentially setting things out of balance!
@@JLvatron He actually has the power to send them home. Instead, he wants them to solve his dysfunctional family problems and other riddled adventures.
I don't think I've seen this episode since the 80's! This one has some great writing, and voice acting especially with Eric! The greatest thing about this show is that it shows the value of ALL the characters even Eric.
Too bad most most but not all kids then love it and that's why it's under loved by those but your not wrong it did Rock I'm surprised that TSR didn't make Hank and the rest of the kid Hero's apart campaign seting in the realm there in aka on a game Bord/Video Game
One of my favorite episodes! Eric can be a douche half the time but he is flat out hilarious plus proves himself when it counts. Truly a triumph in the history of American Cartoons!
@Greg's Retro Channel 2 I would like to see something similar to this back on TV especially for this generation. Not a revitalization of this one specifically, but one that follows the same plotline but more contemporary.
I love the animation displayed in the rich backdrops .. the enormous scaled castles of dark haven .. some depth to vengers mentors i.e. the large monolith like statue with 2 horns similiar to himself .. love the scene the way the grimwa book caused vengers demise into a large cloud dissipating image .. threating reminder scaled up .. and cavaliers (dungeon masters) whirlwind spell to escape safely
Is it just me or does the animation become especially awesome towards the end there? Almost as if a different animation firm was brought in to do the last segment . . .?
just, quite frankly, some of the greatest cartoons you will ever see. I didn't realize in the 80's when I was watching these how classic and phenomenal they were, and I would get up early every saturday morning to make sure I wouldn't miss them. Well, maybe I did realize.
When Dungeon Master tells Eric that once he is touched with power, he will never be the same after that, it seems to foreshadow the fact that Eric will be very instrumental in saving the realm and redeeming Venger later on, as was proven in the Requiem episode.
Venger: Let's follow these kids so they can lead us to the Golden Grimoire. Also Venger: Let's kill these kids with a magic storm before they get there!
The characters seem to be drawn a bit differently in this ep. I know it's done by Toei, but it reminds me of how Transformers would alternate between work done by Toei and AKOM.
I keep having to tell myself, if they make it home there's no more show. Like with Gilligan's Island. They had plenty of time to jump through that portal.
So this means Dungeon Master was able to take them home the whole time. The kids should've realized that and that their presence there was serving a higher purpose. Well we can see all of that in Requiem. The castles' design still amazes me.
13:57 Venger seems to be implying that there may be a little bit of sympathetic magic at work, since Eric has both Dungeon master's powers and robes he may have also been imparted with some of DM's knowledge as well. After all up until this point Eric has been shown to know things he should not know and even talks like Dungeon master from time to time, like a spot on impression even!
There is no way a bunch of commoners with artifact weapons could fight Tiamat or Venger and survive it. Tiamat is a deity and Venger is at least a level 20 wizard.
If Eric can send them home using Dungeon Master's powers, then why couldn't Dungeon Master simply send them home? I've always wondered why Dungeon Master never sent them home, instead of sending them on dangerous wild goose chases and speaking in riddles.
I did some research. Venger is dungeon master's son. He needs his champions to restore his son which is the ultimate goal before sending them home. A father who just wants to return his son who was annoyingly transformed by an ancient evil with no name.
Best thing I've always loved about this cartoon and other 80s cartoons is that no matter how Grim the situation is as long as they think quick and clever they will always come out on top with what little they do have. They dont need all the power to come out on top just a brain.
oh god, the fact that this soundtrack was a replacement for one of the most amazing pieces ever created is just blasphemous. The original soundtrack was so amazing in this episode.
they switched out some soundtracks since not all music was licensed for the dvd release (or something like that). The original piece for the Venger fight was a lot more intense.
Holy... great episode as always but.. in the voices.. so opitimus is venger and megatron is uni... Amazing.. who would have known.. we need a meme with a angry optimus and a meh-ing megatron! :P
Who else finds Uni annoying? Eric and his friends banter is unlike most cartoons where everyone acts like a perfect family. Although, here, I thought they were overly mean to him at times.
This is the episode that lives RENT FREE in my head... I mean it is clear that Eric was adept at Magic why didn't him and Presto which magical weapons after this! Eric with Presto's Hat would've been so much more useful. Presto would've been about as adept as Eric with the shield.
"Only one of us is going to survive this fight, and it's not going to be me"
"Wait, what?"
It would have been funny if they got to the "Golden Grimoire" and found out that it was the AD&D Player's Handbook and AD&D Dungeon Master's Guide.
3:48 That is an interesting concept about how Dungeon master's great powers work, he implies that he can not simply create something out of thin air but rather he draws from things within the world potentially setting things out of balance!
That explains how someone so powerful can't just grant everyone their wishes.
@@JLvatron He actually has the power to send them home. Instead, he wants them to solve his dysfunctional family problems and other riddled adventures.

Most useless is Acrobat in all the series
@@monstergirl6342 Not at all! Most episodes had Diana as the voice of reason and always courageous.
She seemed like the 2nd skilled leader after Hank.
@@JLvatron Well said, brotha....well said, indeed.
ERIC IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER. 😎
And what's wrong with Eric? He's my favorite D&D character! He is SO funny!
This show still rocks.
As Big Mac ( Big Macintosh My Little Pony ) would say , Yeeeeeup ! LOL ^_^
Hell man ur right!😂
Too bad most most but not all kids then love it and that's why it's under loved by those but your not wrong it did Rock I'm surprised that TSR didn't make Hank and the rest of the kid Hero's apart campaign seting in the realm there in aka on a game Bord/Video Game
hell yeah !it Rock & Roll s like a D20 Critical Smash
One of my favorite episodes! Eric can be a douche half the time but he is flat out hilarious plus proves himself when it counts. Truly a triumph in the history of American Cartoons!
Also Eric in the finnal episode is the one who saves them all, and finnly get them home😊
@Greg's Retro Channel 2 I would like to see something similar to this back on TV especially for this generation. Not a revitalization of this one specifically, but one that follows the same plotline but more contemporary.
@Greg's Retro Channel 2 That is so true.
Sheila: "Eric, you talk just like dungeon master."
Eric: "hey, there's no need to be insulting."
Brings back alot of memories from the 80s watching this and Gi Joe and Transformers as a kid Good Time's 😊
At least Eric is more useful here than Dungeon Master ever was
AGREED!
"Listen Dungeon Master.. I mean don't think this hasn't been fun, cause it hasn't" Lmao Eric is truly a riot
"Only one of us will survive this fight, and it's not gonna be me!"
Classic bugs bunny line
Brilliant episode. Eric is hilarious
+magickal30 This was a very good episode!
I feel like Venger's venting to Eric was his subconscious ranting at DM, his father.
"Way to go, Obi Wan Kenobi..." was my favorite line.
Is it just me or does the animation become especially awesome towards the end there?
Almost as if a different animation firm was brought in to do the last segment . . .?
Absolutely! How I wished the entire series and other older series for that matter would be re done 60 fps in the same style.
Reminded me of Transformers the movie and then Vampire Hunter D around 19:26.
That's Toei animation for you.
Toei animation is like,
Crap.
Crap.
Crap.
Crap.
AMAZING CITYWIDE DESTRUCTION SEQUENCE FOLLOWED BY 200 FT. SPIRIT VENGER SEQUENCE!
Crap.
Crap.
Crap...
Eric was my fave character loved this ep
God I LOVE that Soaring Cyclone spell at 19:19..!!!
Eric is like a cross between Peter venkman & Eddie Murphy
19:12 from here on the animation takes on a new level! Wow!
😊😊 hello
My favorite episode and I have remembered it from the 80’s. Was a great show to grow up on.
just, quite frankly, some of the greatest cartoons you will ever see. I didn't realize in the 80's when I was watching these how classic and phenomenal they were, and I would get up early every saturday morning to make sure I wouldn't miss them. Well, maybe I did realize.
The writing in this show was great, because they weren't trying to sell toys.
No they were trying to sell Dungeons and Dragons board games.........either your a troll or your crazy haha!
Saturday morning cartoon, at its BEST. Thank you God for making me a kid in the 1980s
Completely agree
Thank You
FATHER GOD
19:26
Okay, that was pretty awesome 😎✨!! Such art work...such special effects!
Profound statement re power changing us. It must be used wisely and with humility. Eric gives us a life lesson here
Dungeon Master talking about universal balance and everything working inconjuction with everything else - sounds like The Force from Star Wars.
I want to see the episode of the search for Venger's other horn!
When Dungeon Master tells Eric that once he is touched with power, he will never be the same after that, it seems to foreshadow the fact that Eric will be very instrumental in saving the realm and redeeming Venger later on, as was proven in the Requiem episode.
Will be?
I keep thinking how the poor giant bird probably got eaten by the red dragon.
When a player DMs for the first time.
Hawㅐdkoah ㅊ ㅊ ㅠ. ㅐ
Sounds like the players got in an an argument with the DM. "Okay, if you think it's so easy, YOU try it!"

Venger: Let's follow these kids so they can lead us to the Golden Grimoire.
Also Venger: Let's kill these kids with a magic storm before they get there!
actually, he created the storm to test eric's powers out.
This TV series of Dungeons And Dragons is so epic!
Eric led the D&D squad in dungeon master's robe....cool
this episode totally reminds me of my first time DMing lol
I never saw this episode growing up, for some reason! It was really good too. Lots of clever writing.
I just realized I recognized Eric's voice and ... turns out he was Ralph Mouth on Happy Days.
Check out 6:45. It seems Venger once had TWO horns when that statue was made.
lol i thought the two horned statue was where he sleep if he do sleep lol i didn't think it was a statue. i was thinking it was an out door canopy
Well venger wasn't always evil.
thats one of the best episodes too
I just noticed that and it was weird because I remember misreading that comment!
Love this cartoon. Good childhood memories.
5:12
Ha ha! Sick burn...now that, is showing him. Lol awesome 😎✨

This take me back to Saturday mornings. thanks
This was a really fun episode.
Oh my goodness, the Star Wars references! LOL
19:38 my favorite Venger explosion
No, The Hall of Bones and the Unicorn ones were the best, and the one with the Cloud Bears were better escapes.
"You think this a game? I assure you, this is no game!"
every good DnD session :D
This episode had a number of really good writing moments.
I keep having to tell myself, if they make it home there's no more show. Like with Gilligan's Island. They had plenty of time to jump through that portal.

Great episode to prove Eric can be an amazing hero
9:45 😂😂
Eric: Ah the only way to fly!
Presto: Oh great! Bird Brain Airlines!!
13:57 Venger seems to be implying that there may be a little bit of sympathetic magic at work, since Eric has both Dungeon master's powers and robes he may have also been imparted with some of DM's knowledge as well. Yeah…this is usually how well it goes for first-time dungeon masters.
I think Eric would have become a great DM if he stayed in the realm.
Vengers voice was the voice of Peter cullin who voiced Optimus prime on transformers
A Cartoon You Can Feel Wow
All Venger had to do was wait 30 more seconds and let them go home and he would have had their weapons and the Grimoire and Uni-burgers for lunch.
My favorite episode.😁
19:32 the animation was so good.
There is no way a bunch of commoners with artifact weapons could fight Tiamat or Venger and survive it. Tiamat is a deity and Venger is at least a level 20 wizard.
The force was strong in them
I remember watching a glimpse of this episode which was recorded onto VHS as well as it was Korean dubbed so long ago! lol
The ending where Eric transports them out & the explosion merges into Venger's spirit is utterly dope.
Did anyone notice Eric had two heads at 7:19?
Must have been his Dungeon Master magic!
07:43 Agreed!!! It is amusing Master Venger.
If Eric can send them home using Dungeon Master's powers, then why couldn't Dungeon Master simply send them home? I've always wondered why Dungeon Master never sent them home, instead of sending them on dangerous wild goose chases and speaking in riddles.
We wouldn’t have had a kick ass cartoon if he would have sent them back!
He was using them to clean up the realm.
He was also refining them. Eric and Presto in particular, but they all made improvements.
The children are in the Realm for a very specific purpose,to redeem Venger, something that Dungeon Master cannot accomplish, watch Requiem 👍
This was one of my favourites growing up.
I still think it was cruel to throw Tiamat at them right off the bat. Also Venger was really trolling hard.
I love this cartoon so much ever since i have started playing Dungeons and Dragons again i have been watching it on repeat!
presto should be able to do everything Eric did here
oh god, the fact that this soundtrack was a replacement for one of the most amazing pieces ever created is just blasphemous. The original soundtrack was so amazing in this episode.
what do you mean replacement soundtrack?
they switched out some soundtracks since not all music was licensed for the dvd release (or something like that). The original piece for the Venger fight was a lot more intense.
Michel van der Linden The DVD set I have has the original soundtrack apparantly. My uncle got em for me.
Thank you! I was sure this wasn't the music when I used to watch this episode over and over and over again as a kid! Such a shame!
21:42 the writers homage to The Lord Of The Rings with the downfall of Sauron as Venger becomes a ghost, but only to return.
Erik is going f'ng crazy!!
Holy... great episode as always but.. in the voices.. so opitimus is venger and megatron is uni... Amazing.. who would have known.. we need a meme with a angry optimus and a meh-ing megatron! :P
13:34 looks like the eating hall at Hogwarts
Obscure Rocky & Bullwinkle "Watch Me Pull a Rabbit Out of my Hat" reference by PRESTO @ 1:43
One of the funniest episodes!
Very funne episode. I think Eric is the most notable character. Maybe he became a cavalier (paladin) because he can be really brave
Instead of acrobat...Diana should have been a cleric/ healer
The drama with parents religious etc. Were against this show, that would've made things worse
Eric swaggin and baggin
I'm obsessed with the song in 12:08. It's been years and i couldn't find even a fan recreation.
Straight up and down Eric incantations sound authentic even though it is a brief scene at 16 minutes into the episode!
This creepy dude kidnaps these kids, and then wants to lecture them on causation. Apparently “dungeon master” has the same MO as a “cult leader”.
Who else finds Uni annoying? Eric and his friends banter is unlike most cartoons where everyone acts like a perfect family. Although, here, I thought they were overly mean to him at times.
Oh, geez! 19:42...I'd crap myself!
Dungeon Mastering ain't easy.
This is the episode that lives RENT FREE in my head...
I mean it is clear that Eric was adept at Magic why didn't him and Presto which magical weapons after this!
Eric with Presto's Hat would've been so much more useful. Presto would've been about as adept as Eric with the shield.
That's the best episode, right?
"A Dungeon Master's life is not an easy one." Wow. That one line aged so well.
What to do with a player complaining that their bored in your game? Force them to run a session! 😂
3:43 it's long story I help my friend with Bobby and dungeon masters must haven't been long way time to the past.
Was that giant encased uniform in Venger's castle an Easter egg for "he with no name"?
18:51 this reminds me of something….a bad game
Hey look! A dun geons and dra gons ride!
So I take it the that the Roc eventually became a fried chicken.
