$40 job??? I can't even get a plumber in my area to return my calls for $40.
😂😂
Can’t put gas in the van to get to the job for $40. Guy showed up on his bike if he can charge $40
Yeah, I normally throw in an extra 0 in there for replacing your kitchen faucet.
I would seriously hire this guy and pay him his normal rate at my plumbing company and hed still be cheaper then my cheapest employee.
@@jameskim2007ahahahahah my guy, wut? 🤣💀
Don’t hit the rusty trap. Don’t even look at it 😂
😂 That will 100 percent leak within the year. That is very rusty.
Tops. Lmao
To quote Vice Grip Garage "We're just going to pretend we didn't see that."
@@varanidguy Erik got that from me 😅
No such thing as a 40$ job. Its 150 just to come into the house. Its at least double the price of the faucet.
On the money with the faucet manufacturers, they be changing it on the daily!
It's cheaper to just swap out the faucet. Because you can go get the cartridges replace them too find out it's still leaky.
That only applies if it was a cheap faucet to begin with.
@@akan626 well in the bay area plumbers are from cheap $200 an hour and up. It's not unheard of to get $1000.00
@@akan626 if you get the cartridge. It still leaks now your time is twice for parts and twice for labor plus parts. now there disappointed.
Yeah, $40 job is something from 30 years ago. Plumbers in Seattle area charge $250 to replace 1 angle stop. That was 8 years ago or so. I’m not even sure how much it is now
Thats my price now and people say I have good rates😂
They’re not charging you 250 to replace an angle stop, they’re charging 50 to replace an angle stop and 200 to have the plumber be present.
(Not a plumber, just an avid DIYer) I installed a Kraus faucet the other day where the bracket installed and tightened from above the countertop, which made it so much easier with the deeper sink. I was super impressed with that design.
Very cool I’ve never done one of those but it sound nice
As a plumber I appreciate thier efforts but one from a different brand I did just didn’t want to suck down as tight as from the bottom and I’ve never had issues getting in from under the sink
You were replacing the faucet stems . Just clarifying the term is largely interchangeable but that faucet had hot and cold stems a single handle valve has a cartridge !
always listen to the customer, and make a recommendation, as the customer is always "Right" but you should ensure they have all the choices to choose from so they can be "Right" in the best ways for them overall.
North Houston Tx i charge 80$ for just labor, 120 if they want me to supply materials, and 250 including a faucet
You did a awesome job.
I was looking at the shut off valves as a first timer doing this couldn't really figure out which what to turn the valves to shut the faucet off because it never stops either way I turn looks like you did a great job by the way
I agree with the exception that I refuse to trash a good Delta with a 50yr life expectation for some 40 dollar glacier bay that'll snap in half and give the plumber the bad wrap.
LMAO the glare at the end looked like a pinhole spraying 💀
99% of average homeonwer plumbing issues do not require a plumber... i have a rigid drain snake, pair of pex crimpers, and a plunger.. never had to call a plumber.. hell ,y best friend is a plumber and i dont even call him haha
40$ in parts vs 200$ faucet. Lol good job bro.
Good luck finding those on the shelf somewhere. Not to mention what service companies is charging less than $200 to go play quiz the supply houses looking for them
@@mattberg6816not to mention that big ass upgrade they got. look at that faucet. even comes with a. detachable head.
You did good
A 200$ plastic faucet versus the original metal one.
@@mattberg6816 you can usually find that stuff same day at a specialty store not really hard to find, i fix faucets from the 50s, 60s and 70s all the time
I do dishwasher and otr microwave installs. Yes the manufacturer changes something every 6 to 12 months. Also every brand has to be uniquely different. Ive said many times, the people that engineer and design appliances dont have to repair install or replace.
There should be standard microwave supports so you don't have to drill new holes all over the wall when replacing.
@kamX-rz4uy most otr microwaves are 16 1/4" or 17 and roughly 3/16". But the bolts on the top that hold them to the cabinet are different. Half the time with otr mw there the same but the other half of the time they're different. And the support you mentioned isn't standard each brand has one. Some are similar or close but some are 2 hooks some are 4. And some of the hooks are a different spacing apart
I recently replaced my kitchen sink and everything that entails including redoing the pipes below. The hardest part was the mounting bracket which took me 2 hours to get on. I was livid because I spent several hours watching videos to make sure I did everything right only to get tripped up by manufacturer incompetence.
Exactly. Mounting brackets always different.
those hard lines are so afwul, i love those braided lines
I don't do 40 dollars job neither do I repair old facuets because I can't guarantee it that's a straight replacement job bro
i understand why they went with the new one but it’s unfortunate most likely i of course don’t know the condition of the old faucet but it was likely built better than the new one and the replacement of the cartridge could have been free parts as most had lifetime warranty back in the day assuming you could provide proof of warranty of course you still have your labor and if it was me i have no problem paying for good service and you definitely provided that so my comment is just that of interest of how people decide to service their products i find it interesting i personally tend to go both ways depending on what we’re working on i find it is how most people are
Well said about changing things up weekly. 🤬
The mounting brackets are like apple always changing their chargers lol
Honestly worded
1/4 turns are nice but multi turn can be rebuilt if ever needed which can make it a lot easier then just replacing the whole thing if ever wanted where 1/4 turn has to replace the whole thing every time
It's called "planned obsolescence." Decades ago they figured out this was how to keep making money off consumers instead of selling quality products
Moral of the story don’t ever trust anyone who don’t install quarter turn valve
This adaptor you used to mount the tap will probably leak cuz there’s 2 holes there u should have used silicone or close the 2 remaining holes…bad good job I’m sure it’s a small chance that it will drip in to the cabinet
gotta love the smart faucets, because how else would you be able to experience your sink lagging (i hate it so much)
Out here charging 40$ for carts and the last guy I just saw said 500 for cartiges insane 😅😅
Good job
thank you Frank❤️
Came out nice!
Out here in cali we charge up too $800 just to replace a bathroom faucet, AT LEAST😂
I’ll replace any valve with any other valve, 1/4 turn or any other type, whichever I get paid to do.
Glad I know a thing or two about plumbing, fk paying $200 to change out a faucet 😂
lol that's the cheaper end usually its close to 600-1k with purchase and installation xD
Exactly 💯
What's better about 1/4 turn knobs?
You should have added additional money to change the trap, too. That's bout to go
Great job my man! Customer wanted the 40 dollar job but you nicely sneaked in the replace the whole faucet deal and managed to screw the guy. From watching your videos you appear to be an artist at screwing and gouging your customers for useless things. Mia Khalifa hasn't screwed as much people as you. You gotta be proud of yourself 😂
Install faucets with the least attachements
That's a laundry sink😂😂😂 at first I said that's a hell of a faucet for a lavatory 😂😂
Those were stems not a cartridge.
Term Cartridge is known more widely than stem but other than that u right
@@APplumbing00yes he is bc a shower stem is way different than a Shower cartridge
@@JUNEBUGLLCEase up on the smack down tone dude. Just like everyone has "hot" water heaters. 😂
Agreed. Old school plumbers call them stems. Nowadays these guys seem to call everything a cartridge.
you gotta choose the right ones, the customer chooses the ones that change every day for no reason.
In sf ca the going rate is more like $300 an hour some limes $900 for a few hours. $40 won't pay for gas.
ALWAYS CHANGE VALVES TO 1/4 TURN
Those valves (AKA Angle Stops) seem to work perfectly fine. Regardless that wasn''t in the agreement with the customer, so will you be willing to do that that for free? Customers are sick and tired of being up-sold by service plumbers and HVAC companies.
When he showed us the end result, I thought the glare was water squirting out the p-trap 🤦♂️
lol wouldn't be the first time
True gotts to know how to be s business man and know how to speak to the customer without sounding like a salesman!!!
If you have enough experience we can innovate.
Even how old it is as long as it's not to damn rusty. Enough rust that metal seems to become a paper.
We can always find a way to make it happen.
Yeah, stay away from the quarter turn brass craft stops. They crap out in less than a year. I thought they were great until I realized how crappy they are.
Oh yea I never give that option cause a lot of time cartridges are hard to find😊
American plumbing is a horror movie
Lmao you haven't seen me work on my car.
Hey don’t say that!!, I just bought myself a faucet removal tool and ready for the hordes of mountain brackets to work on lolol
A extra 160 dollars? Hope that included the faucet.
It’s very misleading because the $40 is to repair the old cartridges. The $200 is what they sell the faucet the stock in the truck.
He never mentions the cost of labor. I’m guessing they use a flat rate price book like every other residential service company does. Because of the cost of that book most companies don’t like employees revealing too much
Bloody hell ! Traders charge 80-100£ plus the faucet which is 50£-170£ the standard one in London .
I feel like we work free when I see the comments like they charge 600-700$ in USA
40$!!!!! That would be 450$ in northern VA and like 700-1200$ for a new one
I'll be honest I've been a plumber for 9 years now and I wouldn't ever do a job for 40$ not worth my time at all.
since when did taps have cartridges?
$40? They’d charge $300+ here. $3500 for a gd water tank that takes them 45 minutes
You agreed 40$ for the job. Shouldn’t change it because you felt like you could come up with excuses to make more.
No kidding. Quite changing things.
200$ is that just labor? I hope there wasn't another man in that house!! That would be a shame!
Hey older faucets doesnt mean its bad
Got quoted 2k for just installing a water heater. I already had the new one just needed them swapped. Who tf asks for that, installed it in 30 minutes myself.
And felt pretty good about it, I bet.
nice. charge them for both jobs.
It’s a faucet…. You did fine lol
If the valves work why change them. If I replaced everything I thought needed to be replaced the customer would kick me out of their house fast.
$40? That's handy Andy pricing. Come on
So don't worry about that rusty trap eh?
Good for another trip!
Nice job 😮
Where I live they charge 3 hours minimum to come out at all. They also charge 120 an hour so just for ANYONE to come its 360 bucks. So when I found this out that's what I started to charge people, and they pay so eh whatever
Except the ones that learn to do elementary plumbing and see how much money they can save.
$40 job? $40 after taxes, travel time, fuel cost, customer acquisition costs is below minimum wage
Bottom of sink looks like it was leaking at end of video and rusted trap.
I’ve never even heard of a $40 job who do you work for where they can afford that?
Probably works for himself.
Companies always reinventing the wheel with stupid ass installation designs. I wish these designers would go with a plumber for a few hours and see how stupid it is 😂
Great work
Ty❤️
Youll be back once that trap goes completely and he thinks your faucet install is what is leaking
Delta Vs. Moen. Who would win?
I prefer Moen
@@APplumbing00 well, that explains the “new parts every week“ dilemma you’re having.
$200 to replace a faucet??! I charge 125-150 and customers still cry
Dang! Im 280 an hour not including the faucet
just let the customer know the cartridges may not work and for the cost difference i recommend replacing the faucet (depending on age )
$40 for two stems and the labor. Did someone put the flat rate book from 1982 in your truck?
💀
Why is your minimum service only $40?
How do you ever find something better if you stick with the same shit, I own a service company and I used to agree with that statement of using the same thing, but you’ll never be better staying the same! That also goes with most things in your life! Stay blessed! Stay grinding!
There are no $40 jobs...😂
That faucet gets loose after awhile
Expect a call back don't buy that fixture
🤗🇨🇦
40$? Yea ok. It’s 100 just for me to show up
If the plumber is saying that you have to replace the shut off valve your going to use once every 5 years he doesn't have much work
Most customers aren't idiots and see that as a scam.
@@chrisanthony579 I had a customer ask me about changing the shut offs and I told that there's no reason to
$200 minimum just to show up as a plumber...
No calkin was put down 🤔 lol
Well inform the customer that not replacing valves can lead to old valves clogging up the new faucet.
I much rather have 1/4 turn valves
I charged $40 just to look at shit lol
There’s no way you run a business charging 40 bucks for that first job lol
You only charged $200 for a faucet?
you can either learn to do basic plumbing , or spend way more time working to make the money you’re gonna pay the plumber
200 for a simple job that takes no more the 30 mins to do. do it my self.
The guys that say "replace stops with 1/4 turn." I have brass angle stops in my house that are over 40 years old and work fine in the extremely rare case where I need to turn off the water to a sink/toilet. These people need to stop wasting peoples money by the new "upselling" game
You must have soft water, or less chemicals in your water, in South Texas it's not uncommon for them to stop working after several years.
Customer is going to want you to jb weld that trap son. Time and materials $25.
