  • I bought these curved loading ramps at Lowe’s and highly recommend using this type versus using straight ramps or planks of wood.
They are made my Reese and are extremely sturdy. It took me a good while to get used to the steepness when riding up or down the ramp in my riding mower but once my confidence was established, it is no worries at all!

I like this system you described. I used a utility trailer which has the bed half as high as a pickup bed which worked well also. I just used 4 each 9 foot 2x6 for the ramp.

Good explanation. Also helps if you can lower the taol gate using a roadside gully or hill. Going to pick up a used tractor in my truck. Reviewing smart and not so smart loading procedures'. Thanks for posting.

I use the curved ramps because the mower deck sometimes gets caught at the top with straight ramps. However, I use two pairs of ramps that match. Moving on or off a truck means that the wheels of a mower can move off a single pair of ramps.

I got straight ramps, should have gotten curved. Deck hits if I don't put a step under them.

The straps are a good idea.. i tried with rubber tie downs with the hooks on em and as soon as i got right about to roll on it the damn things boinged up and damn near took my nugget off…. Like the truck got a instant boner or something they shot up and held there verticle.. guess they were tensioned just right where they held down until they didnt.. lol..
