My seals just started leaking on my 85 shadow 700. Your video takes all the guesswork out of it. Awesome video. Cheers from Wisconsin.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks! Took my 85 out yesterday for a three hour ride and by the time I got back I had oil blowing on me from the seals! I’ve done a few things to it, but I recently bought it. It only has 8000 miles on it.
Thanks for watching! Most of my bikes had leaky seals. 8000 miles is great for an 85. Hoping to get mine out for a ride this week. Stay safe!
@@wonkster1970 thanks you too! How much do you think it’s worth with 8000 miles? It has a few cosmetic things.
@@jasonfritz1963 There was an 83 Shadow 500 on Bring a Trailer that sold for $2600. It had 16,000 miles on it.
@@wonkster1970 oh wow! I only paid 1200 for mine
@jasonfritz1963 You got a great deal on yours. Mine had a little over 22k when I bought it for $355 but she had been sitting for many many years so I ended up putting over a grand into her to get her back on the road. No regrets though. I love my bike.
I just got the same bike and I’m currently following your steps for the carburetor. Thank you for the informative videos, they are really helping me better understand this bike
Thanks for watching. Glad to hear you like the videos. Stay safe.
Just got an 84 with leaky seal.. thanks.
I've done 4 sets of seals so far. it's not a bad job. Just time consuming. Thanks for watching.
Nice! What fork oil did you use? Thanks!
I used the Maxima Racing Oil Fork Oil. You're welcome.
Question, i have 2 new forks , do i need to remove the top nut for removal if im not tearing into the forks ?
You do not need to remove the top nut on the fork to replace it. If both clamps are loose, it will come out.
How much oil for each tube ?
I installed 16 ounces of oil in each tube.
Don’t we need to pump 4 psi in to the forks?
You don't need to. The only one I put pressure in was the XL600R, and I didn't notice a difference. It doesn't take much air either to get up to 4psi.
@@wonkster1970 thanks! Changing out my fork seals this week
