    I think here in my black gumbo they could all drive the whole post to the surface. The pulling out was impressive. Hurricane Beryl knocked down a lot of fence here in the Dickinson, Tx area.

    Have you found if there is anything to put on the end of the pipe, such as a sacrificial cone tip that helps spear down into the ground and it stays in the ground once driven in? I run 3 inch pipes and can't find a cone/spear tip to help it drive down easier

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  2 месяца назад

      I can't imagine it would help that much. And you do want that dirt going up inside of the pipe.

      @@SWiFence Good call. Thanks. I live in an area where 2 to 3 feet down is all river bed so the rocks are very smooth and rounded. I thought if we can spear a way down then that may move rocks easier. Whereas a 3 inch pipe hits a rock and it's done going any deeper.

    question.... I'll be flying out to NC to reinstall hurricane damaged 6' cedar fencing(HOA says wood). The soil is sand from what I know. What do you recommend for posts? I don't want to embed them with concrete(unless you say other wise) so I plan on U channel or round pipe and rent/buy a driver. Thanks in advance.

    • @SWiFence
      @SWiFence  Год назад

      I'd go with Postmasters all the way. If your soil's conducive I'd drive but you can concrete if you have to.

    Is it better to drive a post or set it in concrete after using a post hole auger?

    • @stilltuckered
      @stilltuckered 7 месяцев назад

      Depends upon what/where you are doing it at. A farm field, concrete is usually cost prohibitive. Also, concrete may speed up rust when used on a metal post, by wicking moisture and never drying out; that’s why pouring them deep is so much better.

    Fellers… it’s nice that y’all found something that you could concur on. And that’s a good thing.
    Me and my two brothers have very few things that we ever concur on. Not on…
    -The weather.
    -Whose country bbq baby back ribs are best.
    -Which is cuter? A baby calf or baby pig.
    -Night crawlers or Red Wigglers for catching catfish.
    -Who filled a bra better? Linda Carter, Loni Anderson or Markie Post
    You know… the important things a man should take a stand on.
    But… we did have a bonding moment this spring. They came down on a Saturday… I was staking up my ‘maters. They were sitting on the glider in the shade, sipping tea and advising me on how much better they could drive in those T-post ‘mater stakes. Until I pulled out my post driver…
    The 3” diameter well pipe, with its 1” solid steel plug and bent 1/2” rebar handles weren’t what shut them up. Nor did the high visibility fluorescent orange paint job squelch their bragging. Instead… the red plastic-dipped handles had them in awe.
    You see, when you add the No-slip of plasti-dip with the naturally grippy surface of 1/2” rebar… you end up with handles that’ll strip the callouses off a lumberjacks palms.
    Once I dropped it over the top of the first stake their eyes widened and their mute mouths opened. And, I knew instantly the there was one thing we could all concur on… Big Brother Dave had taken post driving up to a whole nuther level!
    Now fellers, iffen y’all wanna put those Plain Jane Honda’s against a homemade, Ozark, callous stripping, post poker… Just let me know and I’ll lend you mine.
    And, who knows? Maybe you three will concur with the three of us… all post drivers aren’t created equal!

    Your experiment is flawed because you are each assisting the hammers by pulling them down at an unknown pull down force that is not equal . Need to do it again allowing the tools to do all the work without any human assistance .
    None of them should need extra human pull down if they are any good .

  • @Rocksolidhandyman

    All of the engineering that went into those, and you still have to pull down with your hands!? 👎👎👎Did they forget that we have weight and we could stand on something to drive this thing into the ground without having to pull down on it!?
