Started watching at 3:15am. I thought I have a nice bed, clean sheets and I’m still up listening 1 1/2 hour later and not done…have to keep rewinding to make sure I hear it right. Thank you, God, for Fr. Rohr and Tommy.
Excellent.. Thanks for this...Fr Richard is someone whom I return to time and time again. Not a day goes by where his wisdom, advice and contemplative practices aren't carried around with me. Superb interviewer as well.. Open, honest and a great listener... Greetings from Wales.. UK 👍
Simple amazing conversation. I have followed Fr.. Rohr for a few years now and love his work. But the conversation you 2 had was epic. Brought me to tears at times. Thank you
I have had the cassette tapes of Breathing Under Water since 1994 and they are now transferred onto my portable recording device and I still listen to them on a regular basis... I am so envious of Tommy and wish that was me talking to Richard, however Tommy you covered more than i could have with great descriptive and valuable questions and supported THE Beautiful 12 Step program so well keeping IT a much needed program even more so nowadays.. Thank you Tommy and Thank you Richard for making my recovery SO much better... please continue both of you...
Wow. So much to chew on and let sink in. Loved the verse from exodus; “stand still and I will do the fighting for you.” So powerful as it relates to meditation and contemplation. Get into the flow of God and let it happen. Much love to both Tommy & Richard for this great talk!
Such wonderful explanations…especially regarding prayer! Such a beautiful correlation of the 12 steps and religious/spiritual practices…it is all an experience to be had… an individual internal experience/practice.
I can't thank you enough for this video!! It brought me to tears and broke through several walls for me. A gift from God.! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Im so thankful to have read that book... My mom got it for me to help recover from addiction to drugs.... How learning to breathe under water helped me learn how to live without substance abuse through the 12 steps and enjoy sobriety.
fantastic discussion, i learned loads.....eg: spirituality is especially for 12 steps is about behaviour/practise rather than what you believe....for me spiritual practise is honesty, sharing, kindness, listening....
Surrendering the substance is very little of our recovery; its the disclosing of resentment, fear and sexual conduct...but it’s a moral inventory; not an immoral inventory. What have I done/said that violates my own moral values? As we “mature” we recognize what we see in others what we have within ourselves and may still be hiding from. That is why others, are our greatest teachers; God works through them to show us we can move toward surrendering.
@6:10 ....the ability and power to differentiate the psychoemotional "feeling" or sensation of different sufferings is vital....some sufferings we are in fact able to persist through and some sufferings are of just pure evil (whether triggered by internal or external)...@ 10:35....EXACTLY....the sensation of vulnerability is often confused with pain of suffering
@25:02...takes purity and presence to be able to be present and ABSORB positivity...that's a whole other subject ...takes much practice and discipline to get there
I don’t now, I don’t understand, I can’t stop smoking marichuana. I still don’t understand whether she is working in my favor or whether her action is against me. I fell lost and hopeless…

Don't give up, man. Been there and struggled for years. Even after quitting weed I struggled w alcohol. But know I'm sober for 2 years. Keep up and listen to father Rohr. And listen inwards. I wish you all the best.

Thunder and lightning, the way you love me is frightening 😂☝️❤️✌️🌍👍
in greek the word meek referred to someone capable of doing violence who refrains from doing it. the romanized translation was misleading

I would wonder if critics of 12 step are motivated by support of drugs for medicine a quick fix for rather than the evolution of

if you read Father Rohr's book, God is in that marijuana, so why refuse it?

Rohr’s demonic heresy should preclude him from ever witnessing to anyone suffering from addiction.
