Just back from a weekend hunt using the can during early rut. Called in about 30 deer total on different spots. Day one, spike buck and a doe, a nice little 4 point we let go, many other does came in. Day two, lots of deer came in at the evening hunting spot. Even called in a Piebald doe! That was a highlight for me, as I have never seen a Piebald in the wild. Amazing 3 days of hunting. Again, highly recommend the can, I will be out there again this weekend with it!
So I am in a tree with earbuds listening to this video and I try the method of short bleats. I always used long ones. A buck comes out and the 30/06 took him down. Incredible.... thanks for the video.
Stopping in from South Georgia. I called in a huge non typical 7 years ago and never had luck again. After watching this video I understand now. The first can I bought would only do the short bleat. The new can has the long. Thanks for explaining the Do and Don't. I was thinking just yesterday, so I looked it up. Today I will be successful Thanks again
Thank you very much for going to the trouble of making this video. I stopped using my bleat can after I saw a RUclips video if a deer running away after hearing the bleat can. Now I am glad that I did not through it away.
I listened to your video a few times and went n got one and I've had good success..I've called in to nice bucks this year and harvested both so thanks for the great info
Unknowingly I have always used the wrong method when hunting with "The Original Can" I have always made the long sound (the alarm). Now knowing what I have learned from your video I am excited to get in the woods and put the correct technique to the test. It's the first week of November, I am bow hunting the National Forest in Missouri, so I definitely need to draw the deer in close. Great video, will post the results within the next couple of days after I've had a chance to try the correct call.
I just picked up a second one. My original gave out the same way. I'm glad I watched this video. I seem to remember that the instructions on the original said to make the call 5 to 8 seconds. That would explain why I never saw anything. Thanks for the 2 second info. We are going hunting tomorrow and I am really excited to use the new can. When I tested it, I thought it was broken because I couldn't get more than 2 seconds out of it.
This may explain why I have never once had success with mine, thought it was a gimmick. All the while i was using it wrong. I'll try this method on Saturday and see if it makes a difference!
I was aswell..im thankful for the info he gave..mine didnt ever work for me eaither,, im guessing by what he is saying you and i were scaring our game off.
I've used the original can. Two of the biggest bugs I ever saw were the result of the original can long call. The bucks did not come into the call but the does they were following came into the call. It works in full rut because different does come into estrus at different times. In my experience the long call is not an alert call but more like a cry for help. The does come running. If the right doe responds with the boss buck following her, then it's a score.
I’ve used and had a lot of luck with the little or “lil” can during the early season prior to and at the beginning of the rut. Had 3 good sized deer, one of which was a 200 pound 8 point that I harvested. They don’t work as well in the late season though.
Thank you for making this video!!! Turns out I was doing it wrong haha. Now I know better!! I have the "Big Can" which can still do an "Alarm" Bleat... which was what I was doing yesterday...
Bought one this past sat and used it during my evening hunt. After calling for about 30 min(3 -4 beats every 10 min) a 8 pointer came in right in front of me.after I shot him (crossbow) there were 2 more bucks coming in right behind me.I've never had that happen before .that was my first time using the can and I will never hunt without out it now .It really worked for me.
Man I used this method of calling for about an hour and called out a 8-12 pointer. I was in my stand and he came in behind me the way the wind was blowing he got a wiff of me and we made eye contact. I spun around and took a shot through some thick brush. All I got was about 10 feet of both long and short hair some having skin on it with a couple small globs of blood stuck on a tree. I looked for 4 hours today and can't find him. Think I hit high. None the less this buck has never came to my camera ever. I have been baiting here for 2 years at this spot. He was big and smart made the best shot I could. Not the calls fault. Didn't expect to have one even come to my stand because it was the first time I sat in it this year and called him in within a hour.
Denny Ducet yeah they work good. First time I ever used a call and brought a smasher in to about 20 yards just a thick shot. I had a head shot but I thought I would play it safe taking the foreword shoulder. All I can find is hair and a little blood
I picked this can up today. If you just let it go it makes the long call like many others. Maybe they changed it back since this was made a couple of years ago? So you have to do the half-tilt, but it's a lot easier to make a good sound than the square Flextone one someone mentioned in the comments. It takes a little practice to roll your wrist so it makes an even sound, but the square one was hard. I think the corners would catch as the interior piece slid. Anyway, looking forward to trying this one out... especially now that I know, thanks to this video and others, how to make a proper call.
Ok, I’m convinced. I was working it wrong, watched video, brought in 4 bucks....rut is next week. One shot, one kill, 9 point buck! I have bow and muzzle left, will try it then, see how it will go.
I've had really good luck with the great big can!! It sounds like an older doe. But works awesome!! I've had bucks cracking trees down to get to it fast!!
They still selling and making the old ones I just bought the older one at Walmart. However it doesn't have the very long bleat I think they shorten the call
+RyAnne English you don't shoot a 4 point, thats not even right. hunter ethics and respect would let that deer walk,he would be good maybe next yr.thats the problem everyone shoots the young bucks then there isn't any 4 or 5 yr old one left.
Deer are to eat not for you to shoot as a trophy to hang on your wall the problem isn't everyone shooting young bucks the problem are those that shoot deer for antlers a 4 pointer this year will taste as good as it will next year so Hunter Ethics would be only shoot deer and take their life if you plan to eat the animal not shoot and take a life to have horns to hang on your wall to collect dust and show off
well where did you buy this one on the right black one i searched everywhere even cabelas, Amazon and no luck can only see the one you got on the left that broke
I purchased the Primos Long can version which is supposed to have a long bleat. I didnt know the long was an alarm bleat. Honestly my sounds like a deer thats dieing. the piece inside seems to catch and doesnt go down smoothly. I used it last weekend and didnt see anything. Must have scared them all off. I will pick up one of the regular cans next time I'm out and try that.
Yours will work. Just cut stop tipping the can after you did a 1-2 second bleat. I have tried the one you got in the store. It should work, just practice and tip it in a fluid motion.
Hi Denny, It's interesting that you mentioned that I have been using the "can" the wrong way all along. I had always turned it upside down and let the weight pull air through the reed for the entire 5 seconds. Sometimes it'd work most of the time not. You're the second person to say that the correct way is to only call for 2 seconds! Why didn't Will Primos tell me that? I did just call 2 bucks - one off a doe he was chasing- by using the 5 second call though, and put an arrow right through him! Thank you for elucidating.-Paul
Denny Ducet Didn't click on the other video, so this may be redundant, but I understand that for a young deer it's bleat and for an older dear it's blat. Either way, you are correct.
Used mine recently on public land, called in a Doe, button buck and a doe fawn. I was in a valley, so they came from the top of the ridge straight towards me. They all came home with me shortly after that. I believe in these calls.
From now on, I’m gonna call these “oh yeah” cans, cause, well, let’s be honest, if we’re making “rut sounds” we’re kinda tricking the deer into there being some “fun” just around the corner🤣
i have used the square michael waddel version many times doing the 3 quick bleats and waiting 10 minutes between sequences...i believe it's the flextone version and it for me is about as useless as the flextone turkey calls. i no longer will purchase any flextone call i spoke with some people at trade shows who were representives of flextone and their reasoning was i must've got a bad one... yeah a bad deer bleat and several bad turkey calls too? i'm no fool and will not buy anymore flextone junk...they simply don't work! i'm going to the mad hyper growl with the snort wheeze chanber and the primos can this season. HUNTERS SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR PRODUCTS THAT WORK AND PASS ON THE FLEXTONE CALLS.
My new one witht the true grip still will go to long if you do it at full I didnt realize I was doing it wrong till I heard other people talking about them lasting to long and being an alarm call. The first time I used it I was trying to get a buck to stop moving by so fast and get his attention and he ran haha know why now tho
I have the older style and have never had any luck maybe I should do it your way instead. I think I have been doing alarm bleats. I've never really tried to use it because grunting or rattling is usually my strategy. Thanks for the tips.
1. When in the season to do you use it, rut, pre-rut? 2. Does it work to draw in does as well? 3. How long after you get to your stand do you start bleating?

Brett Borix everything doesn’t revolve around just what you know kid. Just like how some people say crayfish/crawfish. Brim/pan fish/Gill. Bleet/Blat. Soda/Pop. Etc.
true video Nice And this cans works But you need to know how and you just explain Try the original one and try to shake it it will sound like a doe in real bled Again nice

So this is effective in calling in does as well? What about post rut? Our black powder season starts Dec 22 and would this help?
What type of sequence

I listened to your video a few times and went n got one and I've had good success..I've called in to nice bucks this year and harvested both so thanks for the great info

Thanks for your honesty ...that's how we learn and I wish you much success.
The bleat you made with your mouth sounded better than the can😂
I have done that in the wild!
Connor Sporich he nailed it 😂 when I’m bow hunting I’m gonna be replaying the video
i been sounding the alarm with mine over 5 years now, sheesh!
LOL yep, same here.
Add me to that list, you know they could really list this right on the can. Look how much info Berkley gets on the side of some bait.
Same. wish I would have seen this video last year no wonder I couldn't get one to come in when using this.
I just picked up a second one. My original gave out the same way. I'm glad I watched this video. I seem to remember that the instructions on the original said to make the call 5 to 8 seconds. That would explain why I never saw anything.

I have done good by using a grunt call and only doing the doe and or fawn grunts..
Used mine last week and and called in a few . Meaning 6 or 7. Love it.
thanks a lot for the video I've been doing the alarm call this whole time until I looked at you video it's going to help me a lot now

Never have used a bleet. Just bought one at Rogers here in liberty mo.... interested to see how it works
It works! Brought in 2 does nov 8. 40 minutes later a nice 8 pt walked directly on does path . Was able to get the 8pt with crossbow
Update yet again. Called in several deer this year already with the can.
Thank you for making this video!!!
Turns out I was doing it wrong haha. Now I know better!!
I have the "Big Can" which can still do an "Alarm" Bleat... which was what I was doing yesterday...
Just purchased one today and every excited to be able to use it this hunting season

They do have a lifetime warranty, if you call they might be able to replace it.
just got one. did not know about the alarm bleat. thanks for the info. going to try it this evening
U can make a long bleat with the new one if u want.and I have called 2 bucks in with a long bleat this year.
They still selling and making the old ones I just bought the older one at Walmart. However it doesn't have the very long bleat I think they shorten the call
I never go deer hunting without the deer can..i lost count how many times i had deer come running in when i use it.
It worked!! The primos original bleat can works!! I shot a 4 pt this morning using it!!
+RyAnne English Awesome.

tyler norton I hunt mainly for meat. Thanks though. You want a 5-6 year old, hike for it.
Thank you that was educational I was totally using it wrong it's nice to know I wasn't the only one
I legit used the long bleat and scared off a buck hoping I can call it back in with the small one
well where did you buy this one on the right black one i searched everywhere even cabelas, Amazon and no luck can only see the one you got on the left that broke
I've been using it wrong. Always long lol. Thank you. I'm in the east so going tonight to try. Man never knew not to use the long
Yep. I've been chasing 'em away all this time, wondering "Why? WHY? I ain't see'n deerz?" Thanks for the education.
I purchased the Primos Long can version which is supposed to have a long bleat. I didnt know the long was an alarm bleat. No its not for long bleats its for more intense bleats that mean the doe is ready to breed very soon
my daddy has killed deer using the same call I went and got one and have not seen anything now I know why thanks for the advice man
Hi Denny,
It's interesting that you mentioned that I have been using the "can" the wrong way all along. I had always turned it upside down and let the weight pull air through the reed for the entire 5 seconds. Excellent explanation! Great review!
Thanks! I just purchased one and wanted to understand how best to use it.
I'm really glad I watched this video cause I've been doing it wrong the whole time! Thank you for sharing
For those of you who do more realize you can pronounce this as a "BLAT" Here you go: ruclips.net/video/FJMGYuEdVmM/видео.html
Denny Ducet Didn't click on the other video, so this may be redundant, but I understand that for a young deer it's bleat and for an older dear it's blat. Either way, you are correct.
Lesson learned, if you blow into the hole in the bottom of the can, you can make the sound and completely control the duration!
Used mine recently on public land, called in a Doe, button buck and a doe fawn. I was in a valley, so they came from the top of the ridge straight towards me. They all came home with me shortly after that. I believe in these calls.
How do you carry in the woods so doesn't make sound while walking
Lol, im glad I found this video before I go deer hunting
TWO NICE WHITE TAILS TAKEN THIS YEAR USING THIS CAN BY CLOSE FRIENDS OF MINE. IT WORKS.
I purchased the long can and it sounds pretty much like the original. Maybe a half second longer or so.
Will Primos says that it isn't about the duration. It's all about the pitch of the bleat. Watch the video where he explains it.
It's not an alarm bleat, primos makes another version of the can called "the long can" that is designed to make a longer bleat
I've looked online for this newer version of the call, and can't find it. Anyone have a link for it?
They work well in Georgia
From now on, I’m gonna call these “oh yeah” cans, cause, well, let’s be honest, if we’re making “rut sounds” we’re kinda tricking the deer into there being some “fun” just around the corner🤣
Did you know that if you blow into the hole it makes the sound the same way
I have had good luck with the primo short bleat! It works especially in the rut.
Been doing it wrong the whole time haha. Thanks for the video.
You'll get one now!
i have used the square michael waddel version many times doing the 3 quick bleats and waiting 10 minutes between sequences...i believe it's the flextone version and it for me is about as useless as the flextone turkey calls. i no longer will purchase any flextone call i spoke with some people at trade shows who were representives of flextone and their reasoning was i must've got a bad one... yeah a bad deer bleat and several bad turkey calls too? i'm no fool and will not buy anymore flextone junk...they simply don't work! i'm going to the mad hyper growl with the snort wheeze chanber and the primos can this season. Great stuff
My new one witht the true grip still will go to long if you do it at full I didnt realize I was doing it wrong till I heard other people talking about them lasting to long and being an alarm call. The first time I used it I was trying to get a buck to stop moving by so fast and get his attention and he ran haha know why now tho
thanks for the info i had been using the bleat
With the long bleat im going to try your techniques
thanks dave
I have the older style and have never had any luck maybe I should do it your way instead. I think I have been doing alarm bleats. I've never really tried to use it because grunting or rattling is usually my strategy. Thanks for the tips.
I was doing the alarm today, and I wonder why I don’t see any deer.... cool. Thank you for the video!
You should do a video of the call in action
thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. Learned something new
Great toys for when you want to prime your kids into growing up to become professional hunters
Used this for years never work glad it worked for some
im trying to fill my tag before the end of ohio archery season. it's January 19th now. will this call still be effective this late in the game?
1. When in the season to do you use it, rut, pre-rut?
2. Does it work to draw in does as well?
3. How long after you get to your stand do you start bleating?
I have only used it in the rut mainly. Does have come in. Bucks have charged in.
All phases of rut. Yes! Does come in often. I called in many this weekend with it.
I tried doing the short quick bleets with it no matter how I turn can it does a longggg drawn bleet
Let your finger off the hole
will this work on Black tail deer in PNW?
yes
I used this last year. It is not very loud and had no positive results with it.
Great video I'm new to hunting so thanks for the info
I allso have been using wrong. I will be doing it right tomorrow Wish me luck thanks again
I was blowing into the hole to get a longer bleat, Now I know.
thanks a lot been doing the warning call going to try it today
+danny luttrull right on best of luck
will this work pre-rut?
I called a 6 point and a 4 point today with that first can
+BEASTMODE CLAN Biggest buck I ever called in was with that first can.
@@FolkFirearmsCollective after calling. How long do you wait before You made you're next set of bleats?? And what state are you in?? Im in western nc. I still use the old one
Work on mule deer?
I have called several deer with the older one. At least four mocher bucks 🤔
I've smashed a few dropping them off stands!! I've called in nice bucks with the great big can! Sounds like a rap song lol!!
The cam has never called in a deer for me it's yet to work
Possibly the time of year or phase of the rut. Are you "over calling" and using it too much? Try a couple and then have a 15 minute pause before going again.
Thanks for the info. I've been doing it wrong.
will this work on California mule or black tail
+les isom Supposedly. It claims to work on Whitetail, Blacktail and Muleys
Blat? you literally just made that up.
uh actually I did not. I have heard it referred to or "pronounced" that way numerous times. You say potato I say potato.

Brett Borix everything doesn’t revolve around just what you know kid. Just like how some people say crayfish/crawfish. Brim/pan fish/Gill. Bleet/Blat. Soda/Pop. Etc.
Either way stick to ONE way of saying it lol going back and forth is like saying potato and tater! Thanks for the review. Going to grab one of these.
I was told fawns 'bleat', mature does 'blat'.
Just picked one up today from menards for just under 8 bucks.
I need one,how I can get one piece
A fawn will bleat and a doe will blat.
Best way to call deer is to do with your own voice....and never have to worry about lost call
I've stopped deer running with the bleep
Anyone know if this works for black tail in the NW?
Yes
Thank you I never knew this I’ve always just flipped it 🤦🏻♂️
How far can they hear it from?
+CharlieMikeCheeseCake Gaming They can hear pretty good.
Ever stepped on a stick in the woods and 3 deer get up and take off 150yds away?
Why in the world don't they give us that information about the alarm bleat!!! Now I know the major mistake I've made on previous hunts!!! Aaaaagh
true video Nice And this cans works But you need to know how and you just explain Try the original one and try to shake it it will sound like a doe in real bled Again nice
+Mikukek P Thank you
good info
