About the dance: This is an arrangement of traditional women's dance steps to a folk song from Eastern Ukraine. Laura Shannon brought this dance into the world in February 2022, in response to the great desire in the circle dance world to dance in solidarity with Ukraine. These are slow, simple, traditional women's dance steps in the Russian khorovod tradition, arranged to a song from just over the border in Eastern Ukraine.
It is inspired by, but is not the same as, a similar arrangement made by Hennie Konings also called Tuman Yarom, danced to a different, faster, and more complex song with the same name. Tuman Yarom is a beloved folk song with many versions and variations.
