My father helped the molester become a ministerial servant while this person was molesting children. How come the Holy Spirit didn’t tell my dad what this person was like? Was god asleep.
This is Jehovah’s Witness love: “We must hate (the disfellowshipped person) in the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme active aversion, to consider as loathsome, odious, filthy, to detest.” The Watchtower October 01, 1952. This also applies for those who leave, no matter what the circumstances. There is no honorable way out of this religion.

None of the articles these days spell it out quite like that anymore. They like to pretend it’s a loving arrangement somehow. Something or other about how Jehovah only disciplines those he loves. That article you cited is certainly appalling but, at least, it’s more honest. It makes more sense When you realize that it’s coming from a place of hatred and not from a place of love. No one will ever again convince me that shunning people is an act of love.

The org doesn’t want its members to realise ‘worldly people’ are usually lovely and that we live really happy lives plus we are now able to work the job we want have the car we want and so they don’t want their members to see any of that because they’d start seeing through all their other lies.
Can i ask a question how did you manage to get away from the cult as im aware of how any elders or those with responsibilities as men in the cult found it so difficult to actually speak out about what they deemed as not acceptable especially when a body of elders would be all against such a thing happening.
This what you have done is remarkable something as survivor's of this cult say thankyou for speaking out here on Beki utube channel its showing us survivors of these CRIME'S that there are some prepared to get out .
Im not df fled domestic violence in the cult almost 6 yrs ago am now fading taken a lot to do especially 4 attempts finally got away made sure i did not have any interaction with the jws in this area so as to stay safe .

My heart breaks for you. I left two months ago after 35 years, I’m now 67. My indoctrinated son and grandchildren have cut me off, as I knew they would and now I’m starting life again alone as I’m widowed. It is definitely a damaging cult,that interferes in every corner of family life and very often in a unkind unloving way.

My husband and just stopped going to meetings and the shunning began. My son will hardly talk to us unless we insist for some reason, but no association. He and his wife cut us off from our grandchildren. We are not disfellowshipped or doing anything wrong

My son called the other day and told me I have two grandchildren and I will never see them. Unless I stop campaigning for mandatory reporting of CSA.
So I have to accept him but JWs aren’t prepared to accept us. Utterly ridiculous.
Does it make us want to run back? No, their attitude and actions prove we did the right thing.
The org telling them to shun us is because the org is frightened we will wake them up.
If they were convinced it was the absolute truth they wouldn’t be isolating jws from their non jw family.
In fact the reverse would be true they would be encouraging them to mix with family to convince them of their beliefs.

@@Beckycorbetthypnotherapy so sorry to hear Becky and the rules with clothes meant suit on collar fastened and tie although they are supposed to be relaxing these rules for both boys and men. Ladies have to wear long skirts but not low cut blouse tops. The 19th century has stayed this long for sure.

I’m so so sorry, I can imagine your pain, my oldest shuns me and apparently he’s had our first grandchild that I have no idea the gender of. All for leaving to take abuser to prison, like you and your husband I did nothing wrong. I get it. Obviously each persons pain and suffering is different and I’m not implying mine is the same, just I can imagine. I’m so sorry.
It’s absolutely barbaric for any organisation to encourage children adult or not, to alienate/shun their parents for no reason other than they left their religion. It’s psychological abuse the JWs are using and that to me is extremism! All governments should act on this because it removes people’s rights to leave a cult.

But don’t worry, having been one once I remember how unhappy most were and I think most people I knew were on medication (not that there’s anything wrong in that) for depression, anxiety etc when they weren’t before they became JWs. Some I know who’ve left are now also free of medication. Yet JWs claim to worship the happy good 💁🏼♀️ I just think that says a lot. But then when you can’t be authentic and true to you you’re living a lie and that makes you unhappy doesn’t it?

@@Beckycorbetthypnotherapy I have helped so many young teenagers after I left. I started coaching and showing love to the boys on the team. I never felt so good about anything in my life. So many people need love and real encouragement but religions like the JWs are not capable of showing such pure love. If they did show love for others, they would not need medication. You inspired me today:)

That’s why I became a therapist too because I went for therapy and this therapist had no clue what I was talking about.
So I decided to train and then people can feel comfortable knowing I get it from a personal level rather than reading a text book. Because like you say love and validation are so important aren’t they and make a world of difference.

My heart goes out to you. I feel so terrible when I stop and think about how many people I must have hurt back when I was in and practiced the shunning. It’s just terrible. Old Voltaire had the right of it. “Anyone who can make you believe absurdity can make you commit atrocity.” Teaching people that it’s morally right to turn your back on your loved ones and hurt them so deeply is a form of atrocity in my book.
Absolutely right it’s classed by some mental health experts as psychological abuse. I think all governments should act like Norway and they should all view JWs as an extreme cult.
Don’t beat yourself up, the past is the past and you’re not there now, we did what we did with the knowledge we had at the time. Much love and thank you for supporting me and others by your comments.
My husband, myself and my mom left with our heads held high. We left family members behind. My mother passed away 4 years ago, but her last few years were spent with family who loved her. We took care of her and protected her from elders trying to guilt her because she left. They aren't worth my time. We have been discussing how to handle it if any of them try to contact us.

Yes, they are a cult, Becky. I'm so sorry for the harm those twisted Watchtower men have caused you. I was marked about 1985.... whenever it was that marking first was initiated. Markings never really go away. I woke up about 5 years ago. Like you, I tell as many people as possible how harmful the Watchtower organization is. May you get through these distressing times. Hugs.

About shunning for those that aren’t aware.
Norwegian Jehovah's Witnesses will not get their grant from 2021. The Ministry of Children and Families decided so after the community appealed the ruling of the State Administrator in March this
year.
"The Ministry of Children and Families concluded that the Jehovah's Witnesses' exclusion practice towards children under 18 and corresponding consequences for children who opt out of the religious community violates children's rights." That is what the Ministry wrote in an e-mail to Vart Land. The decision is now final and cannot be appealed.

I'm so sorry, Becky. I'm currently going through the same thing! I have an 80 yr old jw mother with dementia, whom I'm "allowed" to "help" before she moves in with my jw daughter & her family, at the end of March. I recently asked in a text, if my visitation will continue? NO answer! I texted my daughter, I will see her in court. Unfortunately Becky, we need to get the LAW involved, this is downright horrifying! 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️ Btw....I disassociated 2 years ago, due my own molestation, and the sexual harassment of 5 sisters & 1 BS at the hands of a married elder!😡🤬
This breaks my heart, I’m so desperately sorry. Nothing I can say will help or ease your suffering. I just totally hate the way the JWs use us. Your daughter will have her hands full, she has no idea what she’s taking on. I used to be a palliative care nurse and nursed dementia patients too. I view it as I don’t have to watch it happen to my dad, they will be run ragged and I won’t have any of the pain, worry and emotional distress. That’s how I’m getting my head round it because otherwise I’d go to pieces. You’d think they go oh yes take over we can use our time to preach now, muppets. The law needs act on religion doing this so they can get their funds etc and depriving family of their rights. I’m so angry for you because of the injustice. But I am so glad you were brave enough to share your story not just to help others like me feel supported but letting the world know just who Jehovah’s Witnesses really are, wolves in sheep’s clothing! An other issue I still have with them is that when I was studying and attending all the meetings, assemblies and conventions not to mention the group studies they used to have plus the awful parties and lame entertainment put on between 2007-2015. My ex wife who became one clicked and fitted in very well with the J.Ws. she had lots of friends and I didn't. I would get totally ignored at parties and a funeral plus a wedding like I was invisible. And yet these are the people who are supposed to be representing Jehovah God. My ex wife was a fraud and a liar. She defrauded the authorities pretending to be disabled in order to get a electric stairlift, a electric wheelchair and a electric scooter. She then dumped me, threw me out of our home and told everyone she was drugged and raped by me and other people. She did have mental health problems where she was in and out of mental institutions back in 2014 & 15. That's just the tip of the ice burgh. I've known many JW s to be corrupt and I got tired of hearing the excuse of " no one's perfect". That's beyond Imperfect to me. The jws I knew turned their backs on me 9 years ago when I got used, dumped and left for dead. Yet I was the one who made the effort. They seem to have more time and respect for the lowest of the low than all the decent people.

I couldn’t agree more people really need to see behind those fake JW smiles when they are stood on the streets talking to each other with a cart, what really goes on behind closed doors. How on earth do they not see that they are no different in behaviour to scientologists?!
I feel your pain I don't know where to start but my mother shunned me and wouldn't have me in her house. My sister lives 5 minutes away and did not tell me my aunt had died, my cousin and her own son
I found out by accident and recently her husband died and she told the funeral director not to give me any information so I couldn't go to the funeral. She was invited to a wedding I attended and refused to acknowledge me and requested to sit on another table. They have absolutely no love in them and are a cult. I have offered her support since her husband died as I am a nurse and she is disabled but she doesn’t acknowledge me or reply to correspondence. I am dead to her and feel so hurt in so many ways. I am glad I am free of them despite all this

There’s no way it works it shows their true colours, frightened of people like you and me that can see that they are a cult.
They are despicable, do you know some elders have told another JW he can’t walk his daughter down the aisle because she’s not a JW. They are that controlling and inhumane.
They never tell the public they do that sort of thing though do they?!

I was abused by two pedophiles one at the age of 4, the other from the age of 11-12. I was marked as a bad associate and shunned at the age of 11. This was to protect my abuser. My brother an elder told me recently, when this goes to court i will testify in favour of the society. Correct Becky stay away from the tower.

I stopped going 6 months ago because I couldn't pretend anymore that I believed it when I didn't. Of course none of my former friends want to associate with me, unless of course it's with a view to persuading me to come back. Really feel for you x

I was born into this cult. I was abused as a child, beaten very badly, by my stepdad and Mother. There were many in the congregation who knew what was going on and did nothing. We moved to preach where the need was great when I was 15, and as soon as I turned 16 I ran away from home and went back to London. I sought out some of the people in the congregation I'd been brought up in and they treated me like something they stepped in. I'm an adult with my own 2 children now, and I have cptsd from that. I've spent my adult life railing against them and trying to get them stopped. They're a cult that hides pedophiles and they should be banned from raising children. Norway has got the right idea. I still have nightmares every night about what they did. They disgust me.

My wife and I have been out for twenty five years. I was forty eight when we left and am now seventy two. My advice is don’t allow activism to dominate the rest of your life. 48-72 went by fast. I’m glad that I devoted that time to healing and enjoying a couple decades of freedom before health problems started.
Time goes by fast. Don’t waste it without taking care of yourself. We have a forty six year old daughter that is still in. She knows our phone number and where we live. If she changes her mind I’m here for her but I refuse to stay absorbed in something I left a quarter century ago.

I’m not an activist against the jws they aren’t worth a second of my thoughts or time, because we do need to heal and move on.
I am trying to get parliament to bring in mandatory reporting of childhood sexual abuse. Meaning we all have a duty to report.
But just when you think you’re doing fine you suddenly get some crap action from a JW relative.
Why they just can’t be kind is beyond me.

@@Beckycorbetthypnotherapy my philosophy is that I was the only one who was going to change my mind. Anyone trying to talk me out of it only would have made me consider them a threat and double down on WT doctrine. That’s the way I look at it.
At this point I keep up to know what the teachings are in case an opportunity comes to talk to my daughter. I’m hoping I’ll be able to do that and finally cut all ties.
A lot of things about religion trigger me. I was going through Lutheran confirmation when my mother died. The pastor ridiculed me in front of the class for not being able to memorize. My wife was driven to the point of a nervous breakdown by nuns and had to be put in public school.
If I told all the stories about how the elders loaded me down with public talks, service meeting parts and even conducting WT studies as an MS. They treated my family terribly as if I was a bad person while giving me more work than some of the elders were assigned. I guess because I worked in an office and am a good reader and communicator. They load you down if you can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time.

@@Beckycorbetthypnotherapy I grow legal herbal medicine of pointy leaf variety for a surgically repaired neck full of plate, screws and donor bone. I have absolutely no problem chilling out at the end of day. Another benefit of making one’s own life decisions. I couldn’t go back to being in pain all the time in order to go back to WT. Big brother WT would rather I take the prescription meds with all the side effects. They’re very triggered by their refer madness.
I’m writing my book after all these years about the WT experience. I have to. Because in the 1970’s, when you were cast out and shunned, you lost everyone and everything. I was young with children and had to crawl before I could stand. There were no resources or help like today’s podcasts. So I held it all in but functioned on automatic like a robot. My health suffered for having no one to ever talk to. When I found there were others like me who were talking openly, I began to investigate, heal, and open up. If my writing the book helps anyone, I will know I had a purpose going through that hell. They need as many as possible to expose them and tell their stories, in my opinion. Or not. Whatever works for you.

Seeing this video made me realise how remarkable it is knowing we have such amazing survivor's not just exjws yet everyone else we met on our journey of recovery.

In the meantime you do whats good for you speaking out about the CRIME'S and inhuman injustice is so much more than most people know why education is key awareness is vital in showing our communities how important we spend time talking to the general public to get this situation out in its full exposure.
I too was a nurse with the NHS prior to becoming a mum so knowing how we want to be treated with respect is why we have empathy

That is my experience. I was an environmentalist when they called. back in the early nineties. Was always discriminated because of that, in the cult. Only stayed because of the wife. Now, they treat me like human garbage because I no longer listen in. Don’t make the mistake of inviting them inside your house. If you attempt to explain anything, they will be rude and bolt for the door. Sorry for your experience, but think of it this way. You have now found a release, peace, and freedom from their oppression.

Hi Becky! I’m so sorry about your dad. That’s sad that your son didn’t inform you about your dad😰 i know exactly how you feel! I left in 2012 with my kids, they were 18 & 20, they told me all the things that were going on & all the bad things they did, they were both df’d. I wasn’t staying if they were leaving! My mother that I should kick them both out. I told her, I’ll never do that to them!!! She decided to shun me, the last 8 years, she wouldn’t talk to me! I live right across the street from the Kingdom Hall! My mother is the only one of family that was baptized. The only other family member is my sister, she was only going for my mother, she was her ride. She never got baptized, that told me she didn’t believe 😃 we were both born ins, we were 4th generation, my kids were 5th.
My mother died in 2020, just a month before everything shut down here in the US. My sister was shunning me because of my mother. When my mother got sick, no one even told me when she died 😰. I waited a few months & sent my sister a facebook message asking her was she going to shun me forever🤷🏻♀️ she lives 5 minutes away. She said come over! I went there, we talked, told her all the things about the JW’s had been doing & the court cases & the billions of dollars they have! I saved her from getting baptized & now I have my one & only sibling, she never had kids, I have the only 2 kids & we got out, now my sister too. We are all that’s left! I’m thankful I didn’t have family that were in, it made easy to leave!😃

Sorry to hear what you're going through because of leaving that judgemental cult.
I DA'd on October 2020 and was treated as mentally diseased and shunned by my parents until my mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
After an awkward 8 months of association for "necessary family business" my mum died on May 2023.
Stay strong and don't let their horrible treatment of so called apostates break you.

I left last year after 36 years, became a JW at 23 it’s a relief to be out and shocked to find out what I’ve been part of we are so deceived. A horrendous organisation! I was young and naive and so glad to see so many speak out on RUclips. My heart goes out to you, my husband and family thankfully didn’t want anything to do with what I believed and they are so glad I’m now out. I now know I was in a Cult. ❤

My then 15 year old daughter became suicidal when we were involved with the JWs, at the behest of my sister and her husband and family. My daughter said "I feel like a 15 year old widow in these clothes!" one Sunday. I was close to getting baptised at the time, and began noticing her behavior changing (A married elder also had made advances towards me, and I kept it to myself). So we left and I figured since I wasn't baptised, my sister would get over it and understand my decision (I still haven't told her about my poor daughter, or the creepy elder). Well, she shunned me anyway. I lost my sister, her husband, their children...and now they have a grandson I don't even know. It is terribly painful, and I feel for you...their haughty attitude is insufferable. I agree that it's a cult. With the amount of JW kids that are homeschooled, or bullied over holidays and cupcakes, you'd think the Kingdom Halls would be used as classrooms during the weekdays but CULTS have their OWN schools, and THAT would be absolute PROOF, wouldn't it?? Clever bunch, they are. Stop any one of them on the street and they wouldn't be able to name the men (Always MEN! SO Sexist!) on the Governing Body, and those men RUN THEIR LIVES!! Stay strong. The antidote to 'Watchtower' in particular is to love your family unconditionally and relate to the Creator *directly*. No middlemen with 'hidden knowledge'. God gave us our own brains to think for ourselves.
Now there’s 8 men I think it is used to be 7 maybe it still is, dictating everything.
Absolutely ridiculous because as you said if god have us a brain then surely he wants us to use ourselves. Love him voluntarily rather than told how too.
When my children spontaneously said I love you mummy, that meant so much more to me than maybe there dad saying tell mummy you love her.
Sorry to hear about this horrible experience. I have heard many similar, far too many. This is how the power hungry consolidate their power, by protecting their own interests and victim blaming.

The lack of even basic humanity alludes them greatly. I’m praying for you to be able to cope day by day. Hopefully I won’t upset you by saying this but God and Christ see all injustice and want to comfort you if we can just reach out to them. I am so sorry for your losses.

I am very sorry for this to happen to you. I myself has been treated similarly by my Daughter and Ex-Wife. I never became a member but I studied with them and have learned their history dating back to Bible Students Movement untill 1931, by Charles Taze Russell 1870s, 1872 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania the founder and Judge Joseph F. Rutherford 1917- death in 1942 who took over after Russell's death. And also Beth Sarim House of the Princes in San Diego Ca.

I’m so sorry that you were betrayed first because of being victimized and then by the “shepherds” and family members too, in the vulnerable times when you maybe most needed them! The continual painful issues that come because of that cruel and inhuman doctrine! That’s how too that you know it’s a cult because of the mind control over the members and victims being more victimized! I’m glad you got out, though, even though it’s not always easy. But it shows your inner strength and wise thinking, and love for others, you taking the case to court, to prevent any more abuse. When I found out the molester had moved to a congregation where the elders had not warned families I was incensed.
How dare they put other children at risk.
I went to the police and that’s when my dad screamed why couldn’t I leave it alone I was bringing shame on him and his god. 😀 And now I was dead to him.
I couldn’t believe my ears.
I’ve lost him and my son and grandchild for going to court and him going to prison.
But the molester I believe was working at a school. So he went to prison, on the sex offenders register and no child under the age of 16 can be in his house or he’s back in prison.
I would do it again even at the cost because the cost of children going through what I did for 9 years is too much.
You’re right you just do it you don’t think you’re being brave you just have to do what’s right don’t you.
Covering up CSA is wrong and JWs should be held accountable.

Yeah - this control thing is weird. I resigned in January because of the csa coverups. My family were like - it's all lies by apostates that child abuse is covered up. I guess they must be feeble minded to believe everything the governing body says. It's idolatry - worshipping 8 men who make and change rules every five minutes.

Tell her about the Australian Royal Commission, videos of it on RUclips. The court case against them in Norway. I was part of the government inquiry in the UK IICSA, statistics showed you were more likely to be sexually abused and have it covered up in the JWs even though there’s only 8 million of them world wide than the Catholic Church. So that tells you something.

She lets them talk for ages at the door and so they keep coming back. I have always had a bad gut feeling about them but had no idea it was this bad!

Some young people have ended their lives because of being shunned by their parents.
Mothers have died not long after birth because of not having a blood transfusion leaving a baby without its mother. That happened to my friend can you imagine the funeral, dreadful.

But when you’ve done a lot of healing it doesn’t take as long to pop the lid on again. I wish I could say the JWs surprise but if it’s unloving and cruel then that doesn’t surprise me at all.
