You explained perfectly why I also love public transport. Driving feels like a massive waste of time where you can't do anything else except focus on the driving. Riding a train or a metro is getting into places whilst having a moment to chill, read, organise or even work semi-comfortably. it's also great to reset after a long day, unlike with driving where you may get caught in traffic and then it's just more stress pilled on.
I’m the opposite, driving’s a cherished time where I don’t have to focus on anything but the road. Super protective of my drive time. Hey- some of us like to air guitar a solo in traffic😂
But I’m a terrible passenger, either totally bored or anxious that I should be optimising the journey with something productive!! I think we all have our form of ‘active rest’, it should really be talked about more :)
This is why I feel sooo lucky that we have both options, and can choose how to spend our time in a way that makes us feel our best. It’s the small things that make the most difference 🙌🏼🤍
I suffer immensely in the noisy environment of public transport. This can rob me of all my energy for the rest of the day. To use the advantages of public transport, I would have to have my own, uninterrupted compartment. Which I have been able to find approximately 1 time each 10 years ^^
@@spunk88888totally recommend investing in noise-canceling headphones. Even without any music playing, they neutralize super loud noise and make any environment more comfortable
@@spunk88888 I get that so much, I hate the stress and the polluting from driving, but I hate screaming children and people playing their music out loud :( Have you tried noise cancelling headphones ?
Habit 1- have portable to-do list
Habit 2- eliminate time wasters (replace that time wasting habit with another mindful one. My suggestion 😉)
Habit 3- habit stacking
Habit 4- plan your day around your energy levels
Habit 5- timeblocking
what are you recomendations for mindful habits for habit 2
@@LC-ru1xlMeditate or journaling instead of scrolling social media.
Honestly? The best video about time management that I have seen
Same
Appreciate this so much
I agree. And I’ve watched way too many. That golden time spent commuting I use to do lots of stuff. It really adds up
Agreed
yes! same!
I commute to work (2 hours everyday) and I read 50+ books in a single year. I haven't read so many books since I was a child!
Me, an American, crying as I hear you describe your public transport and how you can use that time productively. I don't think I'll be able to do that in the States until we get self-driving cars! :)
also American, and in the area I live in, the public transportation is also not super safe regarding theft etc, so I unfortunately can't even get out my laptop on public transport without worrying it might get stolen right off my lap!
I live in a European country with good public transport and this still would not work, because it is often so full, that I am standing up pressed between strangers. I can't read, or do anything productive because I need to try not to fall and the bus/train stops every few minutes so people push and shower to get off or on so any train of thought I had is interrupted anyway.
@@nikoletahanakova8573 you can just listen to a podcast or a book maybe
I think you can habit stack. I always listen to audiobooks or podcasts on my commute
For a city like Chicago I agree with you!!! Some countries have fantastic pub transport , also cities like Boston in the states
It’s really amazing what you listed Id just add that not all of your free time needs to be productive. In psychology they actually encourage you to use time to just be by yourself and explore your thoughts as they are. It helps with mental stability.
luckily when she talks about the portable to do list, she talks about relaxing or using social media, but using it intentionally at this time instead of for mindless scrolling, and how resting is important :)
you just have to make sure that when you're taking time for yourself, you are doing so conciously, and not because you are wasting time
I decided to watch this video thinking you’d give generic advice I heard over and over again. But then you mentioned how you used to work out in the mornings and work on your side business after your job, but then feel too burnt out for the side business in the evening. That is exactly what I have been going through. I always go to the gym between 6-7am, start my 1hr morning commute at 7:30am and listen to books/podcasts on the way. Always so energized and get to work with so much to give. But I’m an introvert, too. And it takes so much from me. By the time I’m home, I cook dinner and only want to watch TV or do some mindless scrolling because I’m EMPTY and have no energy for my business. So what I took from this video might just be priceless. It’s something I haven’t thought of before! I am going to try to switch my gym time and my side-business time. Hopefully this will work and help me to become more productive in my personal goals! 😊
I had the same thought a while ago like "why should I sacrifice the best of my life time for my main job!?". So I decided to use the energized mornings for myself and work from 11am to 7pm instead of 7am to 3pm (my job is quite flexible).
Man, that didn't turn out well for me. My job and my mental health absolutely suffered due to all the exhaustion at work in the afternoon/evening. Especially when it's one of these "critical" days at work, which you couldn't estimate beforehand. Just imagine the time you are sitting headlessly and depleted on the couch after work in the evening, but your boss still gives you additional tasks, whereas you just wish to fall asleep in front of the TV🤣
Plus, I'm one of these people who end up in "waiting mode" (i.e. procrastination) when I know that I have to leave soonish anyway. So I often couldn't even use my mornings productively. I guess that would take a lot of discipline or a good morning habit then.
So, this wasn't beneficial for me, but still it could totally work for you. I'd encourage everyone to experiment with different day structures 👍
I eventually got to the point that I work only 3 days a week anymore in my main job and have 4 days left for my side hustles.
Getting entire days off did the trick for me instead of just reducing the daily work hours, since shifting the attention from one task to another takes a tremendous amount of willpower and time for me. So my attitude is to say that work days are screwed anyway, my life begins on thursdays 😁
That was the main takeaway for me as well watching this video. I’m really struggling to find time to work on my side hustle, but think I will try the same approach of swapping the side hustle to the morning and doing my exercise at the end of the day. Thanks so much for sharing the tips.

4. Matching activities to energy and focus levels (Not all times are created equal) 9:31
5. Timeblocking (realistic estimations) 14:44

Thank you for not talking over music the whole time. I'm very sensitive to that extra noise and it was really nice to hear your wisdom without contending with the background noise that so many RUclipsrs add in. 🌷
I walk to the station and go for a walk during my lunch break. That way on my "office days" I'm guaranteed to complete half of my fitness goals for the week. I also have a city errands list ie shops that have a city location that aren't in my neighbourhood that i would have to travel to in the weekend. so l can go also tick a few things off on my weekdays so less to do in the weekend
Yesss these are such great tips!
Everyone is struggling (me included) with not being on the phone, or watching series. These are the main time waisters in our minds. Meeting with friends, reading a book, cooking, working, living all these things are being productive and meeining full. This just makes me realise once again that I have to get rid of these things in my life.
I could not agree more with you! We are slaves of tv series and social media!! 😢
I haven't commented on anything in like 10 years. But I have to say this is the most underrated video of all time and should be shared everywhere. This perfectly spoke to how my mind works. Thank you!
Girl, as someone dealing with ADHD, who has watched nearly every productivity video there is: I've never seen such an amazing video. It has a very heathy approach on producivity (not fueling tha whole hussle culture thing) and the tips are very helpful, especialy for people who are working classic 9-5 Jobs. I've sent your video to some of my friends as inspo (I never send them videos). So thank you so much for this video ❤️
I have watched endless time management videos, but this one was especially well summarised, informative and contained the beyond basic tips. You explain things so well, and give practical examples from your own life. I am about to commence nursing at uni as well as working three jobs, so watching this gave me a great idea of where I can save my time. Thank you and keep making videos like this!💓
So glad it was helpful, good luck with all your goals - if there’s anything else you’d find helpful let me know!
Hey! Your channel is amazing. I have a long background in debating, public speaking, have ADHD, work in management and like to watch/listen YT videos about productivity and finance.
The video is SO-SO good. Amazingly well structured, consice speak-no fluff, super articulate, I actually learned something new(which is rare), the video was motivating together with empathy and balanced point of view. I personally study the best via visuals and written word-finding it hard to listen lectures(my mind starts to wonder easily if not challenged) yet it`s almost like I couldn`t get my ears off of your video-it was so good that I focused without trying. Keep it going, you have a talent 💪💖🥰
Hey! You talking about your gym struggle so validating ! I faced the same thing and even had gone through the guilt of not working out first thing in the morning. Now I understand with the high and low. Had been brewing in my mind but this again was validating. The rest of the video was also validating for me. It's nice to hear someone feel/ think the same way about productivity. Makes me feel like I'm on the right track if two minds came up with similar ideas for problem solving time management. The data was nicely shared - thank you for providing facts. I also love your calm voice :)
You simply summarized all the most important insights and guides of productivity in only one video, being clear and focused on what we really need to know to get into action right now. You did an incredible job. Love this video! One of the best ones on the topic. Thank you so much for that! It helped a ton!
This is THE best time management video I've ever seen. Love it! Thank you.
You should write a book on time management, honestly.
I'd really hope not, I prefer the free and accessible youtube videos and courses to a false self-help book scheme.
Even though I have been in the self - improvement rabbit hole for over 3 years, nobody talks about the proper active and passive habit stacking. It's incredible how much an obvious combination of mentally challenging tasks and things you can do by muscle memory actually is, yet nobody talks about it. Excellent tip and great video
When you live in a crowded city where public transportation is very crowded and you cannot even find a place to sit, it's really hard even impossible. Unfortunately, in a cramped and noisy train where it is impossible to stand and breathe for 45-50 minutes, there is no room for anything other than stress, boredom and nausea. being productive is not even the last option, in an environment where strangers are glued to your skin from all around and you are in a torment and want to get off and breathe as soon as possible.
A
You’re so right. I spend that time just listening to audio book or podcast - catch up on news because you need your hands to hold something and stand on the bus.
exactly right@@saimeghana2261
Have you tried noise cancelling headphones? I struggle with noise and crowded spaces and find that listening to an audio book or music with noise-cancelling is a lifesaver.
I really appreciate the fact that you give us actionable steps❤
So glad they’re helpful!
This video was randomly recommended to me and I'm so glad I clicked on it! 👍
Unlike in other videos, I resonated with so many things you said and felt like you really explained everything in depth so that it's not just "empty words".
I'm going to start implementing lots of tips from your video. Thank you so much! 😊
Habit 4 is a GAME CHANGER!!! I watch this on repeat!
Fantastic video! Sharing with my daughter at college. One thing I’ve found useful for our home is Any List app. I have a shared grocery list and I immediately add things I need from the store as I run out or notice I’m low - and it’s shared w my husband and daughter. Anyone who is out can ck it and pickup things that are on the list, or add to the list. I never spend separate time making a grocery list. It’s always current, and there is room for notes if I want to be specific about quantity or brand. You can have several different lists with different shares/ or private. Great for a home improvement list. Holiday list. That little bit of time savings and organization has been great - plus we are all in the loop. Can’t wait to see your Notion 101 course! Thank you for this great content. ❤
I love the way this video gave me tips that make so much sense but are not extremely generic, like stuff I can actually work on doing to improve my time use. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! One of my new year resolutions is WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER, so this video was so useful 😊
Weirdly I’ve discovered almost all of these organically already, but moving the apps on your homepage is a GENIUS move that I will be trying out!!
Look at you go 🙌🏼 But yes one of my favourite things to do!
Wow. This video is so relatable and provide so much value! Thank you for being here and sharing your insights! Keep going!
I was listening to this while doing my house chores. Not only it made cooking a lot more fun, but i also learnt tips. I wrote them down and will report on the result. Thank you for the amazing video and straightforward approach. ❤
I am constantly looking for helpful tips to continue on my healthy habits train and stay on track. Your video grabbed my attention immediately and I wrote everything you said down. Truly such an amazing video, thank you for sharing and giving examples for each step. I genuinely feel so excited to put these habits into practice!
The best time managment video I've ever watched!! Thank you
Could not agree more with everything you mentioned in your video. Great content! Thanks for this.
This was very well thought out! Definitely worth rewatching.
I have watched so many videos and read so many books and blogs about how to be productive and manage your time... this is my first time hearing about portable tasks and I love it! So useful. Can't wait to implement it.
This is so cool, thank you! You’ll have to let us know how the portable tasks go!
I watched/listened to this video while baking muffins - I’m pleased that I was already doing one of the productivity tips, and also learned new ones! Great video!
I feel you! It's easy to get carried away. Just set a budget and stick to it, right💸
omg this is so packed with value i can’t believe you’re fairly new to youtube you are incredible!!! so glad this came up recommended!!! 💞💞 do you have any ideas of tasks people could bundle with driving? i have an hour+ commute via car, audiobooks & podcasts are great but i’m wondering if there’s anything else i could be using that time for!! so excited to see future content from you!🫶🏻
Thank you for all the help and tips!
Love to see this Tayla!! So great to see how far you’ve come since we shared a chat on my podcast last year 🎉x
This is great! Exactly what I needed today. I’ve been working on my healthy habits and becoming more intentional but I have to say I have good/bad days.it’s definitely a work in progress. Thank you!
Supporting you so much on your journey, just remember every worthwhile thing will have its ups and downs, just keep pushing for as many ups as possible 🤍
Fact of life is that absolutely every body has good and bad days. The biggest lesson I'm still trying to learn is to not let a bad moment, decision or result turn into a bad hour, day or week.
I try to accept the feeling that whatever just happened was bad and actively move on to a different task. Coming back after some time (an hour, day or even a week later) to work out how I can change so I don't repeat the bad moment, means I have some perspective on the situation and I'm less emotional about what went wrong and the results. For me trying to analyse the mistakes I made straight away just makes me frustrated as.my emotions get in the way. I get the frustration out by doing the mindless tasks like chores. Process the emotions first then analyse and implement change.
Blessings, Dot
Never thought about tasks as passive or active tasks! Great take on habit stacking!
Daaaang the small scrolls hit HARD - I always wonder how my screen time gets up so high every week but yep - you're right, ima have to call myself out on that one. I reward myself after everything with a little scroll and I didn't even realise I was doing it so freakin much! Wow eye opener hahaha fabulous video thank you!! 🙏🏽💜
Great video, keep on producing more, I wish you good luck!
You killed it at Tip #1: I take my phone everyone and thank God for Hive's mobile app. I have all my tasks, calendar, and docs in one place. Love this!
This is one the best video i have watched for managing time. Keep going💙
How do you only have 7k subs?? I love your content because it's not generic but it's also really easily actionable and takes into account the business of our lives. This was the first video I stumbled across by you and am thanking the algorithm for it 🙏
This was super helpful! I am getting ready to launch my own design career, and am super overwhelmed with everything that intails. This gave some great tools!
loved the video! only person that actually gives good tips
Great video, thanks ! I watched a lot of videos about productivity, how to use time etc. But I must say, these are really original ideas. Obviously you made the ideas more compact and understable, like a good summary. It feels like they are going to work.
Thank you. Your video promotes five habits for better time management:
1. Keep a portable to-do list: Use the spare moments (e.g., commuting on public transport) to complete small tasks from the list.
2. Eliminate small time wasters: Be mindful of activities that consume small chunks of time throughout the day (e.g., excessive social media scrolling).
3.Habit stacking: Combine a passive activity (e.g., walking) with an active activity (e.g., listening to a podcast) to optimize your time.
4.Match time with tasks: Schedule demanding tasks during your peak energy hours and less demanding tasks during your low energy hours.
5.Time blocking: Allocate specific time slots in your calendar for completing specific tasks.
The portable tasks thing is pretty neat - I walk to work in the morning (and usually catch the train home - there are some pretty wicked hills in the mix) which takes just over an hour, and there's a guy I see most days using his walk time to read a print-out of a report or publication of some sort. It seems like he's getting a jump-start on his day at the same time as getting some activity in, which is pretty sweet. Works better in summer than winter, probably :)
I consume a lot of habits-related content, you explained everything so nicely. Good info, actually heard something new :)
currently listening/watching this while on the train to work - thank you, algorithm
Hi! It’s a great video, which exactly needed me. Keep going!
The concepts in the video are extremely well explained! I've watched many time management videos but this one really did it for me, I was glued to the screen and listening carefully to every word. Felt the need to comment to thank you and compliment you on your great ability to explain everything so easily and giving me lots of inspiration and good starting points, especially the one about the energy levels!! I took notes so I can refer to it every now and then when I need it
this is such a brilliant video- thank you so much for this!! have an awesome day ❤❤
First time watcher from Australia Gold Coast and love it have subscribed you are great xxx
This was SO helpful!! Thanks for sharing.
Very good information and also good action points! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! I intuitively do many of these things, but the analysis of my time and energy has been a miss. I’m going to be focusing on 3 to 5. My biggest secret is making time for a good weekly review. The look back and look forward coupled with a little self reflection is magic.
I think I’m your 1000th subscriber! Great video thanks so much ❤ and can’t wait for more!
Yayyy thank you for subbing!! 🤍
I used to use public transfer to go to work and always studied during the commute but I love it this concept of portable task you shared and will start to have this filter on my Notion too! great tip!! Thanks!! 🤓😎
So Much value in this video. Thank you ❤️
Really great tips, thank you for them ❤
This is gold. Thanks!

I love this thank you so much. Brilliant tips!
This is definitely a well put video about time management!!
This was such a well thought out video and I love how you tied everything together and summarized the key points at the end - That was super helpful!!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for making this video
So glad you found this helpful! I can’t wait to see how you go using all the new habits 🤍
Thank you Tayla for the awareness.
This is an amazing video! ❤
Amazing content and clear explanation👏🏻…was compelled to jot down some key points in my journal
This is very good video on my lunch break~ ❤
This is SUCH a valuable video!! Thank you so so much for these tips!! So good!!
You are so welcome!
such good advice! thank you for filming and editing such a helpful video ❤
You're so welcome!
I'm enjoying your ideas and enthusiasm from your success and gaining so much time!I hope you don't mind me clarifying that doing two things at once is a great way to save time and make unexciting chores or activities more enjoyable habit stacking is not the same as doing two things at once. Habit stacking is a technique to help you develop a new habit by pairing it with a well-established habit. It's a way to help you start a new habit rather than a way to save time. Habits are associated or 'stacked' so you can remember to do the new one. It's not a time saver (unless of course you actually can do them at the same time!) x
Good ideas! Thanks for sharing
This was really helpful - a video on how best to set up and then use Notion would be amazing
Extremely well-done video. Can help so many different personality and brain types to improve productivity. Kudos!
Loved this video and I totally needed to hear this! I started taking social media off my phone on the week days and it had helped me so much with my scrolling😅 Great video❤️❤️❤️
Such a good idea, proud of you 🤍
I just saved 9 minutes watching this video in 2x
This was SO HELPFUL! Thank you so much for this much needed Video!
You're so welcome!
I used public transport when I was a corporate drone. It took 1 hour in the morning and 1.5 hours in the afternoon. That was 2.5 hours of billable time and this was before wireless networks so I had to plan to have billable offline tasks. My boss was always amazed that my documentation was never behind. Then I went off to become a professor and now I commute to work by bike (which has other benefits).
This was excellent. I'm going to try implement #5.
The portable to do list is so smart! Thank you so much for the advice!
You're so welcome!
This video is so good! Thank you!
I am so glad I found your channel!! Such nice content 👌🏻
So glad!
This is definitely one of the best videos I have seen on habits. Everything mentioned is easy to implement and I am excited to work these small habits that will make my life easier! thank you tayla :>
I love to hear this! Let me know how you go 🤍
Looking forward to seeing more videos from you! That’s a great video!
I usually never comment on RUclips, but this time I just have put random videos on RUclips. And after watching this one, I was “this requires a follow!” I was surprised that you had only 87 followers. You will grow fast! Such a great video. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your comment & support 🤍
Best video i have seen for time management
Very informative. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day. 👍
Perfect organization of video, finally I have a filling that I know what to fix. Thank you so much ❤
I would love to know more about how you do emotional management
Great advice on managing your time. I've been very big on habit stacking for a long time. Today, I was organizing my pantry while on a conference call. I also did a Zone 2 workout on my recumbent bike while on another call. Granted, I wasn't heavily engaged in the discussion, but I do have to pause my activity (or turn down the resistance) when I bring up a point or ask/answer a question.
I drive to work, and I try to listen to audio books & pod casts, but I tend to pay attention to the road too much to really absorb the material. Cooking or chores is better for me in that area. Good thing I only commute to work half time, and my drive is less than 30 minutes.
Long live hands-free headsets 😂
I do all this and your explanation is beautifully presented.
I love that you presented this in a clear, structured, data-centric, and example. Easy to follow and tips that I will for certain reflect on and use in my own life. So thank you for this! 🙏 This is great work and more people could definitely get use of this information! 🥰
So glad it was helpful, and love to hear that you’re reflecting on it - always the biggest key to change 🤍
Thank you for making an actually valuable video 😊😊
THE BEST video about time management!
Thank you so much, so glad you loved it!
@@TaylaBurrell seriously, I did life audit and I realized that so many minutes and hours even could be managed better
