my sternum - neft pectoral muscle where it meets the center of the chest hurts like hell. I got injured doing a close grip bench press about 3 months ago. the pain goes away if I stop working out for a week. but it comes back if I do chest workout. x-ray showed they is nothing wrong with the bones.

sounds like costochronditis, I've had it for 5 years on and off because of weight lifting .. I might show up on a cat scan but it can be caused by other things like calcium deposits in the cartilage, infection which only shows up on a blood test etc but you'd know if it's costo because it feels like a heart attack the pain is so severe.. if it's not costo it could be pectorals, the only way you'd know is by having someone hold your arm out to the side and then trying to pull your arm up whilst you push down towards your body (this is a basic test my physiotherapist uses) if you can pull your arm in (against resistance) towards your body it's likely costo, if not then it's a pec tendonitis nost probably.. either way go see a specialist because I waited and scar tissue has built up it's super difficult to 'fix' this so see an orthologist or a really great sports physio ideally one that works with rugby players and chest injuries

Adnan Khan I also have costochondritis. It has dropped me to the floor before. I always have tenderness and tightness in the chest..Sometimes I also have back/stomach pain from it. Dr's are clueless with it. The only thing I found some relief with was this thing called the backpod.

What ball do you use. Please can you use a tennis ball.

We use Tune Up FItness Massage Balls! Our massage balls are created with a grippy texture that helps with self-massage. While a tennis ball works for similar pressure size, our balls also provide an experience that allows flexibility in the ball to provide more comfort to the body to signal a deeper relaxation and safety as it rolls over bony prominences.

Lacrosse ball is a good option if you can’t get a dedicated product like they are showing here. It’s as good as a dedicated product but much better than a tennis ball.
