Mattel is merely using the oldest trick in the book. They are timing these releases and pricing them to create fierce competition and increasing the sense of unease related to the fear of missing out. Mattel knows that consumers will struggle and fight to get something that really isn’t worth the struggle and fight; and definitely not worth the money that people are going to pay for the increasingly decreasing quality. There has to be someway to tell Mattel that consumers are not merely poor little fishies waiting for the baited hook. Knows when they say “jump“, consumers will definitely ask “how high”. The only people who can buy these in multiples is scalpers. Scalpers are the bane of the doll community. Rather than blaming Mattel, I guess it’s the scalpers that should be blamed for the ridiculousness that the doll industry has become. If scalpers can’t make money they will stop doing it. This is a corporation made drama and a greedy made trauma.

So true. I know we all love monster high but in the end they are just dolls. How can scalpers be so little and ruin the fun of doll collecting. It pisses me off. It should be such a simple thing and yet it is the total opposite.
To be fair, scalpers and resellers are like the bane of every community right now. Hustle culture also plays a big part into it. Everywhere you look, there are people running absolutely everything for everybody in the name of extra income, that sometimes doesn't even pay off. Best case scenario is very exploitative. Worst case, it's a scam.

Steady growth and happy customers would be smarter and better for the company in the long run, but there you are.
This was the first and probably the last Skullector I'll get. I got extremely lucky but i dont like giving my money to companies that care so little about their clientele. As a lot of other people say, Mattel needs to make more dols or do a legitimate presale. I also am starting to buy the theory that Mattel themselves are the scalpers. 😂 This is crazy and I always love your unfiltered opinions on all the tea.

I think they should have a time window like an hour or 2 hours having the dolls available, and then it would still be exclusive and "hard to get" but more people could get it.

I feel like if Mattel changed the stocking issues to go from limited stock, to made to purchase like the fangvotes then they would sell even more. Cause I hate how I literally got the membership and was not able to get this 2 pack with either the early access release or the main release

I’d love made-to-order dolls as well, even if we had to wait months for them like the Fangvote. i got Fang Vote Jinafire, and was actually tempted by the Creature from the Black Lagoon. But then I remembered the comments about how Skullector dolls are almost a lottery to purchase. It’s a good thing I didn’t try: the Creature went live and sold out while I was at work.
You would think Mattel would make more money doing the preorder because more people would buy them. All Mattel is doing is helping scalpers make money
I was able to get the Addams Family set. The captcha was so confusing. It took me 4 tries to figure out what to do. I never seen a captcha like this before. It was matching the animal with the one in the box. The fish were hard to see for me. Imagine how hard it is for someone with vision issues. This violates the ADA.

I often have trouble reading small print so mercifully I had magnifying glasses close at hand otherwise the Captcha would have defeated me too.

Big Halloween girly and I love monster high. So of course I wanted the Adam’s family pack. So I tried both days to get them. No luck of course. I just got them off eBay it sucks. I had to do that with my nightmare before Christmas set as well. I love how you speak your mind. This is a problem and it’s clearly not getting any better. 🖤
No one should have to get these for bizarre prices on eBay!! I wish they would just make these releases as a preorder or something so that everyone can get one!😭
I am so sorry for you, and believe me I understand what you mean about the NBC 😞 I would've bought it but that's the ONLY ones I actually bought. Others? Are nothing compared but ffs there's shame on a company who just makes their fanbases pay extra without guaranteeing them a chance to get them.
Mattel would make a huge profit if they decided to do made to order. I don't understand why they would sell to scalpers and lose out on all that profit. It doesn't have to be so stressfull.

At least MGA stocked enough for fans to get the limited edition dolls and managed to restock. I got Paris Hilton for my birthday and she was being sold for £100 but I got it for a decent cheap price and again even though she's still expensive she's still around. I get that the whole point about limited is that you either get it or you miss out but seriously? That's no excuse to not fix their website FILLED with bots and scalpers trying to get it first hand than the ones who waited in line with double the amount they paid for the membership.
I think that captcha thing is like a bandaid to the sinking ship, it’s just so frustrating and clearly doesn’t prevent scalpers! And again, website is so buggy I can’t stand it, this is greed at its finest, because they could easily improve it in one day!

I completely agree with you - they *can* do better, they're just choosing not to, because they value the money made from scalpers/fast sell outs more than they value their community and fans. They could make to order like you say, or they could do a purchase via lottery, even setting a 2 items per address limit would help.
Mind you, Mattel also have abysmal customer service in general, so at least they're consistent.

The only Skullector drop I tried to get was Jack and Sally. Lifelong fan of that movie, dolls sold out while I was in line. I spent the next 48 hours in anguish before giving into a scalper at 2.5 times the price. Ever since I just don't even bother with it.

It’s getting harder and harder and tiring at the same time that every single drop it’s a blood bath for the fans cause most of the ones who could get the dolls are the Scalpers and Resellers 🤷🏻♂️.
About the Membership… I think is a step ahead and a step back for Mattel…. Let us members trying to get an early access to buy 1 Doll per membership I get that!
But the next day just allowing us to buy another one but make separate orders with both orders having individual shipping…. It’s so crazy how they managed all of this drops.
And I totally get it that we are never going to be pleased by them but at least could they use some common sense to make it work for the real fans who love the franchise and not just some greedy scalpers and resellers.

It was horrible. That robot test was messed up too! I bought the membership for nothing. I lost out both days trying to buy these cursed dolls! On the second day my payment was being processed when the sold out message appeared...really Mattel??!

It is SO frustrating and insulting. I keep thinking it would be better to just save my money and buy a really awesome ball jointed doll instead. These little dolls are VERY expensive in Canadian dollars so it wouldn't take that long to get a much higher quality doll.
was so bad i have my credit card saved with matel creations. No help had to do those robot tests like 3 times then when i was to order had me wait 3 mi for a check out as i was paying it said sold out. I so will not order from matel creations again.
It would be so fun if they released G3 Manny and Iris together in a two pack for comic con again. Granted no one would be able to get them but the call back would be fire!
Skullector sales are identical to Ticketmaster. Mattel is not going to have better technology than Ticketmaster. Barbie used to have a couple hundred doll releases a year some limited to 300 dolls. In the end it’s a doll. You don’t need them.
Imagine selling dolls for $90 each and having your site so bugged people can’t buy them ridiculous. I would rather do preorders even if it meant the doll won’t come for 6 months Mattel would make a lot too. I preordered Jennifire im still ok waiting.
I sort of LOVE pre-ordering dolls. Especially if I have to wait a long time because that little tingle of anticipation, having a sweet moment of a good thing to look forward to has seen me through many a dark moment.

This is the one reason why I am glad that I never got into the Skullector series. I am content with the playline set at the moment though I am leaning towards the creeproductions and the occasional G3 playline doll that I like.
I'm in the US and ordered Weird Barbie last year. Don't worry!!! She is set to be shipped out May 30th for me. I keep checking my order, and it always says that date. I was thinking how much can happen to a person in over a year and how ridiculous it is to wait this long. I probably will not buy another doll from Mattel Creations because of this experience being so stressful.

I shall forever stand by the comments that suggested that this should have been a Morticia and Gomez two pack, instead of having one of *three* Wednesday dolls. Yes, I know they normally don’t do male dolls for Skullectors (Jack being the exception), but this should have been one of the exceptions.
Don't forget Frankenstein and his bride. For this reason only Gomez and Morticia would be the perfect set.
I only had good experiences personally with the Skullector dolls (tried two times, Nightmare before Christmas set for my dad and now the Addams set for me) but I still 100% believe all the bloodbath stories I've heard about these releases and it really honestly sucks.
They don't ship to my country either so I had to use my US warehouse address + VPN to be able to buy them. Even if it gets more expensive than it should be at least I'm not supporting a scalper (and somewhat cheaper than a scalper as well). The warehouse address site I'm using has quite low shipping rates as well, tried it before and it really does work smoothly, highly recommended. In all honestly I don't think that Mattel deserves my money cause they can't even fix a simple thing as shipping to majority of countries that they used to be able to ship to. They obviously don't care though.
I hope they don't do many more releases I really want cause the warehouse thing is just a temporary solution really and these releases just stresses me out to the max.
It is ridiculous how many dolls resellers can get. Not suspicious to Mattel sending 10 dolls to one address like really they don’t care.
Also, since this is quickly becoming a skullector support program, I wanted to share that today I broke. Since I got birthday money, I couldn't help it I just bought the creature of the black lagoon from a scalper. It's only 30 ish over retail I reasoned with myself. Idk where I'll draw the line if they make more Burton icons or other animated classic icons
Every time collector dolls look bleak, g3 is here to step in and hold up the fort. I already love the new jinafire. It'd be nice if they shortened how many g1 collectors we get in a year and gave us a g3 widely available collector once a year
You're absolutely right about what problems happened, and I love your solutions. Even if they didn't make them publicly made to order it'd be clever to let club members preorder a year in advance and have some by general release. It'd give the club some serious genuine value and reward those in the know, while still having a broken general drop. The worst part is the "brand value" of exclusivity is bullshit. That's not what we the collectors actually want from the damn brand anyways. We literally just want mh dolls of spooky icons. If these were widely available dolls they'd still be just as damn popular
Mattel creations is a mess and somehow getting worse. Like the cost of dolls vs price was already a frequent problem but dear God if someone is willing to drop that money LET THEM. There's no reason or excuse to gatekeep when you USED to ship to those countries
I mean, this happens ever since but way worse because previous skullector drops only lasts less than 5 mins. And ofc Mattel only cares about money. They don’t care if some people don’t get the dolls as long as the release is sold out. And i’m one of the consumer who are pissed because my country was removed from shipping list. Now, I am forced to buy on resellers if I want a doll
But that sucks 😕 getting these dolls from resellers shouldn’t be the norm, it should only be an exception…I know Mattel doesn’t care ultimately I mean it’s just obvious but I wish it were different

You have to be set to go like my husband has his logged in and waiting to go it takes too long to get through checking out otherwise. Idk how the bots still work. It also sucks they limit the fang club to 1 but open sale is 2. I would have grabbed a second for a friend. We have a group that if one cant get it if the other does you sell it back to them at retail. Id totally grab you a doll if i can get a 2nd of whatever ones come up soon im in Minnesota so just have to ship it to you.

i will truly never forget watching you trying to buy a doll, i cannot remember which drop.... but you were taking your sweet time! I kept saying to myself " shes not going to make it!!" And sure enough, it sold out on you! It was sooooo funny to me. as mean as that is LOL

it saddens me with every monster high drop, the creators want to promote inclusivity but every drop feels inaccessible because of the way Mattel sells them. When the creepros dropped, it was 5am UK time and I knew that if I didn't try to buy Ghoulia then, she would be over £100 the next day :( I'm disabled, so I value the representation we have with monster high, but I cannot afford the dolls after they have been bought up by all the resellers, and I certainly can't out compete them on launch dates. It was so difficult trying to try buying one Ghoulia, and I don't think I can do that again.
I think it is unethical, when Mattel could offer pre-orders instead. Much as I like the Skullectors, it was bad enough trying to buy one 'playline' creeproduction so I don't feel like I have chance with any of the Skullectors which are in even higher demand. I won't be able to keep up with the website process involved, refreshing screens, captchas, and trying to enter my customer details in a few minutes, that excludes people with accessibility needs, and doesn't seem to work for the bots, judging by the resellers on ebay. Mattel should listen to their customers, otherwise like all collector booms, it will crash. I didn't collect them, but it reminds me of the beanie baby craze, now they are £1 in charity shops, I'm not sure that day will come for monster high, yet, lol! but fans will become priced out of collecting sooner rather than later in this economy. With the original G1 dolls so expensive and often incomplete, Mattel can see how popular they still are. They could easily could do the same as MGA and make the reproduction dolls in larger quantities and available for longer so we have at least a chance to buy some of the playline dolls, and I agree, they could make all the collector dolls pre-order
I once dreamed of buying something limited edition through mattel but that was years ago.Wouldn't surprise me if mattel employees are secretly part of the scalper population getting the money back through dolls they help design. I know there is the head designer but there is people underneath who help with concept meetings, material costs and such probably not being paid a decent wage dor their efforts. Even the people underpaid and over worked in the factories will want to make their money because mattel won't pay more for better labourer treatment😔 im hoping to make my own versions of any special releases because it will probably save me money in the long run anyway

I didn't get the dolls either :( I was on the website 30 min before the dolls got released, but got dropped in a 5 min waiting line and when I got through and wanted to pay, they were sold out :( So sad
Macari is another place to get them and they do sell to sellers cause I saw a store on macari that has like 10 dolls for sell at a time Mateo don’t care about the collectors cause they know you will still buy
You would think that especially from a money point of view they would do something to put scalpers out of business. I mean, wouldn't Mattel rather have the money? Doesn't a larger order lower production costs? If they simply made plenty of them it wouldn't be worth it to buy from scalpers and Mattel would get ALL the money and genuine collectors would get ALL the dolls and greedy, exploitative scalpers would be out of business.. Clearly we are willing to pay exorbitantly for these diminutive plastic beings. It is a mystery why Mattel is so willing to let scalpers steal those profits from them.

I think the reason why there has been alot less new characters was because they took their time to make all 5 core refresh instead of 5 new characters. So I wouldnt be surprised if the next year we get a bigger wave similar to the first one with the 2 confirmed (Jinafire and Skelita), the 2 that are also supposed to get a doll (Nefera and Howleen), maybe Iris (she is getting a redesign, and is also the only character on the 2D show that doesnt have a doll that is not a parent/staff), and maybe 1 core boy (Gil) and or an aditional character releasing on a different line (Twyla, Heath and the twins arent core dolls but are their core looks) which would have to be a character with a simpler design or a design close to whatever new story g3 will get next year (possibly a boy doll since they usually have simpler designs and we havent seen invisibilly, or if they are going to go the rout of renaming/redressing any of the show ogs since some brands usually whenever they want to produce a character they didnt own they just give them a redesign to the clothes and name (by adding a second Name or editing the spelling) to be able to use the characters without having to pay to produce that character on a toy avoiding extra fees

I live in Greece and I supposed to be Fang club member. I was ready with my phone the second the dolls were released /also for the Creation from the black lagoon/ but the button turned from "coming soon" to "sold out" immediately. I complained of course and Mattel replied that they don't ship to my country. Strange because I used to order dolls. So they returned the money I paid for the membership. Yet I felt offended and discriminated. Now I can freely buy it from ebay for hundreds of Euros because scalpers take precedence over members

I feel so bad for the people who unfortunately did not get The Addams Family Skullector Dolls, or other Skullector dolls they wanted. I really don’t like how they sell out so quick. I was really excited for The Addams family Skullector dolls, and I was waiting for the day that they would be available to buy. I was unfortunately unable to get them. I only have one Skullector doll, and that is Annabelle. When she was announced as the next Skullector doll, I immediately told my mom that she would be releasing. On the day of her release, I kept checking the time and texting my mom about it, but by the time my mom looked at the website, Annabelle had already been sold out. I was sad, but we were fortunately able to buy her for a more expensive price. She is literally one of my favorite horror movie characters. When I heard they were making a doll of her, I was literally so excited! I feel like she is the most underrated horror movie doll, and it just makes sense for Mattel to make her. I also wanted The Shining Twins, but for now, I’m happy with Annabelle. She is usually on her stand, but I also like to put her in a little wooden Barbie chair. She fits in it perfectly, and I am just so happy that I at least have my favorite Skullector doll, and it is perfect that she is literally a doll in the movies. I am still upset about the website though, and I really hope that Mattel will make it easier for people to buy future Skullector dolls. I can’t believe they sell out in such a short amount of time too.
I really wanted the nightmare before Christmas set and missed out on the website so I was going to buy from amazon payment went through than the amazon seller canceled my order and relisted for $200 more I was devastated I was about to pay like $350 than they cancelled it 😢stressful even trying to get from resellers I still haven’t tried buying again because missing out twice now I have to wait till I save up I ended up buying a different doll instead

I like the made to order idea, but it's crazy, I almost think if you can customize your dolls do it, instead of stressing about trying to get theses dolls
I was so stressed my fingers kept messing up because I couldn't get the Addams dolls with the membership on the first round because after the timer said three minutes the dolls were sold out then on second round I got one in the first two minutes while I saw the timer my heart skipped a beat until it said processed. I fully agree with you all dolls should be pre-order Mattel banks and true collectors are happy.
I find it fishy that on the memeber release day, members were limited to 1, but on the general public day your limit was 2. Was there really a quantity "problem"... it's giving fake scarcity and fake "limited editions" vibes.
I'm not going to try for the skullector dolls. I'm tired of the disappointment and dolly trauma. Yep, I don't think mattel cares, so I don't care to give them my money.😊

I think they should be made to order same with the fang boy but a smaller window so like 2 hours to get them and however many they sell they make

I m at the point that I m just going collect the howlliday and other collector dolls and not get the skullectors because the re sellers seem to be the only ones who can get them and i refuse to pay triple the amount from retail.

I just logged to mattel and kept refreshing the webpage to see how long it would take for the pair to sell out. But i did read somewhere that even when in your kart, while you are checking out, mattel will take it out from your kart. That is trash!!

Never into Skullectors, it's over priced and limited. I rather Create a Monster Original Characters rather than waste money on exclusive plastic dolls.
Out of topic i wonder could you do a video about how awfull shippment services of mattel creations and only sending 20 countries, rest of the world can't get collector dolls.
Not to be mean but I don't think other countries are gonna be put back on. They can't even keep Skullectors in stock for no longer then 5 minutes, adding back countries would make trying to get a limited doll even worse and nobody would get them, only bots and scalpers and this is Mattels way of making the dolls last a little longer by cutting countries. Just a theory though

I'm fed up of Mattel Creations!!!😠 Bots blocks the page of payments! I had the order done but I couldn't press the Process to payment button because it was locked! I was totally upset!🤬🤬😡😡🤬🤬I think about to stop collecting M/onster High dolls because I'm fed up sending complains by email to Mattel Creations! They make fun of us but this is not funny, this is really bad and rude for collectors. @mattelcreations should stop making fun of us because we are the real fans and collectors! But Mattel prefer to sell to scalpers! All of this isn't fair, really not! I'm so angry waiting all day long to be in front of my desk at the exact right time for nothing because I have no chance to get only one skullector doll! I paid for Fang Club membership for absolutely NOTHING!.. GRRRR This is really BAD!

There's a huge difference between not being garanted to get a doll and not be able to get one..! You know what I mean. All the last big releases were a mess! Just because of the lack of protection against scammers. The Mattel Creations website isn't serious. And I 'm not the only one to think like I do. I'm fed up to pay 3 times the price of the original one on Ebay to get a doll just because Mattel did nothing to prevent against bad people and protect the real fans and collectors. There is a solution to me..! Mattel just have to release the dolls as preorders and that's it. Sorry but I'm fed up with Mattel everytime it's the same.😖

However people expect way to much for just a $10 membership. $10 is nothing so I what I mean is if they made the membership more expensive with better perks and ways to secure a doll. But you must understand that 10 Dollars is important for some people nowedays and when you pay for someting you need to have some advantages. I what you nedd to understand is that 10 dollars + 10 dollars +10 dollars ........ It makes o lot of money at the end...! Mattel take a lot of money with the different memberships (Barbie, MH, Hot Wheels etc...) But what is the real advantage forcustomers all around the world...?? Absolutely NOTHING. So this is not fair. Mattel steal money with this ingenious system. It could be money to improve there website and create some ideas or systems to take away bots and sclalpers, scammers resselers on Ebay... But they do nothing else but money with it. I can't be agree with this type of "running a business". Mattel is big toy brand all around the world and they have a lot of iconic brands. They can't make fun of customers like they do.
