Iconic Inspiration | Sewing Episode 1 | My Great-grandmother Hazel

This is the first "sew iconic" series within my channel! I'll be sharing my inspiration in sewing from relatives, cinema, music, eras, and more. It was only fitting that my Great-grandmother be first. She was a wonderful seamstress, and I was very fortunate to have known her. I'm pretty sure that my sewing skills came through her. Cherish the great ones while they are here. I wish she could have seen this.
I'm making a classic wool coat using McCall's pattern M8013.
All fabrics are from my personal stash. The notions are all from Joann.

For the center of the lining where you sewed a dart 12:39 , did you then release that dart once the coat is done?

Thank you so much! She meant a lot to me.🙂 Yes, I released the basting stitches between the second "x" and the "x" at the bottom (the pattern refers to those points as circles) to form a soft pleat for ease in the back lining.
