This problem could be fixed. The problem is, it will take technical skill and time. Whoever does it will be doing so on their own time just for the fun of it. Then you have to find out that someone has ported a better/faster emulator to the thing and then figure out how to install it. The SNES, even with a Super FX 2 chip is 30 year old technology. The Super FX chip was available at launch of the SNES. The FX2 chip is only a minor upgrade to it. What emulator you are using makes a huge difference. Some are designed 100% around accuracy and speed is not a huge concern. Others will eschew accuracy and compatibility for speed so that it will run some of the hard game at full speed, while others will crash.
@@handheldgaming4life Do you know what chip set is in it? I quick google came up blank. I just have a hard time believing you can find a new SOC for sale in 2023 that cannot handle emulating a SNES even with the FX2 chip running a decent emulator. Low end chips from 12 years ago can do it.
@@tarstarkusz From Vonmillhausen - "the community has determined that it's a HCSEMI B210, a single-core MIPS processor running at 810 MHz (or 918 MHz with the 1.6 firmware onwards). It appears to be a clone of an ALi Tech chip."
Got my Sf2000 yesterday from Ali Express. It seems to be the latest firmware 1.7.1. At one time, I was testing precisely this game and it had terrible screen tearing and it didn't run well like this. I actually liked it a lot for a 20 dollar console, but this Multicore seems very promising making it even more worth it.
I believe the multicore is a hack that runs on 1.6 firmware rather than 1.7.1. 👌. Latest version of multicore is the best yet but as you'll see still struggles to get decent FPS. But the tearing is mostly gone and range of platforms has increased.
If this thing gets really popular, all the problems should be fixed. The problem is, there are so many of these machines now, all running different chips and different emulators that there is no one big one that everyone has. The emulators used makes a HUGE difference. To give you an idea of what a difference the emulator makes, back in 2006 the open source GP2X handheld was released. It was very popular for the time. We started with Dr MD and Genesis games not really running full speed even when overclocked to 220mhz and ended with PICODrive (a different Genesis emulator) running every Genesis game at a solid 60fps with 16bit 44.1khz stereo sound while the GP2X could be under-clocked to save battery. He even got Virtua Racing running full speed with stereo 16bit sound. Virtua racing has a chip in it similar to the Super FX chip. Hopefully this thing will continue to be popular and get a large base so that more developers start looking at it. All of these retro game consoles and computers are extremely primitive compared to today's hardware. Even a 1 Dollar system on a chip (SOC) should be able to accurately emulate every one of these old systems up to the PSX.
That'll be because they're 50hz rather than 60hz. But as I've found, now that you can then on an FPS counter. What "feels" ok is often as low as mid 20s. I'm not an FPS snob. So long as it's fairly fluid I'm ok, but that usually means at least 30fps and stable. So yoyo-ing from 19fps to low 40s feels bad.
Hi, thanks for the info! I have ordered my SF2000 and have been watching videos on how to upgrade to the multicore system. I plan to do this on a new SD card . Will the download of multicore have the games also? thanks
Multicore doesn't come with Roms. Personally I'd say save your money and try to get a Trimui Model S. Funkier design, better performance and if you shop wisely you can get it for the same price as SF2000.
I have some great results with heatpads on the processor and memory. It's overclock but there is nothing to cool it. I have the foam heatpads but think if you glue a coin on it it will be better. Lookout there ain't no room fore big cooling blocks
