I'm British but I've lived in DF for just over a year now and seriously - REAL MEXICAN FOOD IS SO GOOD! None of that stuff from the US nor UK compares! I went to Puebla recently and it's insane how different the food is. Mexico is so wonderful when it comes to food!

Damn that looks tasty. But as an Anglo, it's hard to get real tacos. Most white Americans think Tex-Mex when they think tacos. So when I order tacos at a taqueria, they expect me to be asking for a hard corn or flour tortilla, with hamburger meat topped with letuice, tomato and cheese. I have to convince them that I really do want a real taco. White man's taco burden.

sister darkness Yea I learned about the history of tacos 🌮 and you’ll be surprised to know that the white owner of Taco Bell went to a Spanish lady’s restaurant in California and stole all of her ingredients. Which is how Taco Bell was created. I will NEVER EAT AT TACO BELL again.

My wife is New YorkRican and I love Mexican and Puerto Rican food..
We bought the entire set up for these as a Xmas gift to each other. We can now have our own real tacos. Made them Sunday using pork and carne piccata with all the same veggies and corn tortillas yep.. we used lard. Had real Mexican cokes to go with. I brought Texas to the Heartland!!!

In Los Angeles, they often do 2 small tortillas, beef, chicken or carnitas; sometimes grilled onion. Add cilantro, raw chopped onion, and red hot sauce. Sometimes lime on the side. About $1.50 each. A cheap price for Heaven. At that price, you can get 4 or 6 per person- which is good, because they're small 3 or 4 bites each.
