Enjoying your content especially looking forward to when you get to the Suwannee River section as I have hiked that all the way to South of Orlando, including all of the East Corridor and much of the West Corridor. Which will you be taking? I am sharing your Part 1 on my Hiking Florida Facebook page so others may enjoy your journey as well. Looking forward to following your journey!
Hi thanks for watching and sharing. I’m off trail for a couple weeks to enjoy the holidays. I’ll probably take the east side around Orlando but not 100% on that yet. I’m planning doing the whole trail this winter but may jump around a bit because logistically it works out better for me.
Just found your channel. Your are a machine. Enjoyed the walk thru Elgin (pronounced egglan). Lived in that area years ago. Will check your other videos and did subscribe.
Hi Steve. Very much enjoyed this video. I'm am hopefully taking one of my grandsons (age 25) on a winter hike, and we've chosen this area (possibly part of the national seashore as well.). I'll share this with him so he can see what we'll be seeing. Question: What kind of hiking shoes do you wear on the FT? I've always worn Merrells since I mostly hike in the mountains (with rocks). I know some wear trail runners that are supposedly "water proof" or dry easily. Thanks!
@@kenwbrenner Hi I wore trail runners Altra lone peak 6 on the Florida trail. They dry quicker than most and worked well for me. I did the whole trail in the same pair. Happy Trails!
Steve I’m an avid kayak camper here in Florida but I’m new to backpacking. I have all the gear ready to go as a lot of my yak camping setup is backpacking gear. What trail would you recommend for a beginner like myself ? Looking to do in and out spending one night. Would appreciate a suggestion.
@@Bonkylikestopaddle Hi, thanks for watching. If you wanted to hike in Florida I would do something in the Ocala section most of that is nice trail and pretty dry. If you wanted to travel you could do something on the Appalachian trail. On the AT you can pretty much hike most places on it with no permits needed except for a couple spots. Hope this helps.
hey steve.im planning my first overnight trip and was wondering does your tent get much condensation? also what does your backpack weigh full? great hiking trip and video! love it
Hi, My tent is the zpacks duplex it gets some condensation but nothing I can’t deal with. Some days I just have to dry it out at lunch. My base weight for this trip is 11lbs. Good luck on your trip!
Alligators Bears cougars Panthers vipers rattllers anacondas black widows scorpions aggressive deer sink holes quicksand make camping in Florida is dangerous keep this in mind before scheduling your next adventure

Well hello Steve L awesome to see you do amazing camping 🏕️ video
Thanks 👍
Do you run into snakes and/or gators on the Florida Trail? We'd love to walk some of it, but as a Michigander, I'm really nervous about the reptiles😱
