City Nature Walk in 2020, in this old park in Aarhus Denmark.
Vennelystparken is located in the middle of Aarhus between Vennelyst Boulevard and Nørrebrogade. It is the oldest park in Aarhus. Its history dates back to the 1820s, when under the name "Folddumperne" it laid the groundwork for grazing the cattle of the local farmers. The area was at that time a swampy and difficult terrain, but in 1824 Colonel Julius Høegh-Guldberg leased the land from the municipality for the purpose of renewal and beautification of the area. The rent was limited in time to 25 years, and the Colonel undertook to return the area in planted condition.
As early as 1830, the park under the name "Vennelystparken" opened to the public for the first time, and it is a completely different sight that meets the eyes of Aarhus at this time; the mud puddle has turned into a beautiful garden with flowers and trees. The park is developing into a favorite sanctuary for hungry Aarhusians, who diligently use the green areas for meetings, picnics and general fun. Access to the garden is only given via the entrance gates to the apartment, and the municipality and the tenant look strictly at the citizens who may jump over the fence, just as strict rules are set for the use of the park.

Nice video. Lovely little park.
But I don't understand why they haven't made it more wheelchair friendly. I have a new friend who is in a wheelchair and have started noticing these things. Earlier I wouldn't have noticed as this park is very accessible for me. We should be better to demand from our governments to fix these things.
