As others have already said the people backstage were his competitors and this was the first time most of them had heard him sing. A huge testament to his character is how many of them became his closest friends for his next three years in China and how much they cared for him when he became sick halfway through the show. I noticed you said it was a music video, it's actually just a TV recording. Dimash's official MVs have to be seen to be believed. He turns a music video into a separate art form. I'd love to see you do a reaction to Dimash's version of Koji Tamaki's Ikanaide sung at the 2021 Tokyo Jazz Festival, even it's original composer has stated that he's never heard it sung more beautifully by a non Japanese artist.
It was 5y ago... he is the only one able to improve the perfection... please continue your journey with him: there are so many masterpieces to discover. He remains indeed very humble, even if he is a megastar in China. His exceptional personality is also a part of the very strong relation he has with his fans: he is always polite, he loves his family, his country and only breaths for music. And if you listen to some interviews, you can see how deep and sage he is, while he is still so young. I have never be a "fan" even if I really like some artists. But Dimash is unique, he is a part of my life, I can listen to his songs hundreds and hundreds times, I continue to be deeply touched every time by every note he sings.
All the time I've been listening to your reactions, I didn't even notice that you had not been exposed to the phenomenon that is Dimash. He is the solo performer equivalent of PTX. This is the first song I ever heard him sing and all that have followed have been equally impressive. And he covers so many different genres. This was a historic moment and this is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight. In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish. This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won). You've barely touched upon the majesty that is Dimash. He can sing in any key 7 octaves +, sing in 13 languages, plays 7 instruments, has a masters in music and working on PhD, can sing any genre. C1 to d8
The reason you can’t get Breton to do this equally as Dimash did it is because Dimash did it first 5 years ago at 22. Many vocal coaches have come to analyze this performance and sent their students to learn. The students call Dimash maestro. This was a “10” 5 years ago. The only way to measure anybody anyone against this performance is to go to Dimashs sos digital live performance 2021 which was a “10” 4 years later. Dimash did sos in 2017, with 2 masters in contemporary and classical music under his belt and having been 100% excepted for his PHD. In this song considered popopera by vocal coaches he had pop opera r&b rock belting and about ten different techniques and I think 4 octaves. He didn’t show everything here, but he didn’t have too. He wasn’t only the song. These were professional singers with their own fans. Because they were professionals they would have been allowed to have their own music or collabed therefore so would Dimash. By this time he would have had his master class in Broadway production. And, after singer he went straight into touring in China with his own music. So everything you saw ad heard was Dimash. He had almost 20 years in experience and education. Did you hear his chest voice? The same level as a classically trained opera singer.

This song was my first exposure to Dimash... I could not figure out why I cried as I could not understand a word . It was the emotional trigger that tied to the loss of my son. Dimash is a messenger, a humanitarian and, a healer.

His "family members" are his competitors and this was his first number. Throughout the videos I have seen from this competition, his competitors were extraordinarily gracious. He was the youngest and virtually unknown in China. The competitors were all established artists. At the end, the man he hugged is his father.

Can you please react to more of Dimash's videos? Try "Ogni Pietra (Olympico), Sinful Passion, Love is Like A Dream, S.O.S (Slavic Bazaar), Diva Dance, Drunken Concubine (duet with a male Peking Opera singer), Ikanaide", to name a few. Those videos are a good starting point. This extraordinary mega talented singer, has, I believe 7-8 Octaves. He can sing from low bass notes, tenor, counter tenor to soprano. As well as vocal fry, whistle notes, and incredible Central Eastern vocal styles. He basically doesn't conform to one type of singing. But blends different styles, from his classically trained opera, to pop, to RnB, to his native style, etc.... Every performance is sung differently, and he beautifully changes the composition of some of the cover songs he does. Watching Dimash's videos is like a journey! Love your reaction and explanation. His story telling is superb even when you don’t know the lyrics. Other performances in the Singer competition where he shot to overnight fame with SOS are based on true events and are well worth checking out. If you watch them in Gloria Wu’s channel she has the backstory to the songs as well as English captions. She does alter something slightly with his voice so I read in a comment so it gets passed being blocked. Day Break, Autumn Strong and Daididau are based in real events. He also does Freddy Mecury’s Show Must Go On. You have to excuse the pronunciation, first time singing in English with only a week to learn the lyrics. His vocalise performances of Know from his concerts are also awesome, but then so is everything he does

I've tried but I just can't get into artists that seem to do nothing but covers, especially considering she's been out there for longer than Dimash. Maybe if you could point me towards an original piece by her I could give it another shot? I'm honestly not being mean about this, I'm not even overly keen on most of the cover versions done by Dimash either, I'm just not a person who enjoys cover versions of songs that I'm already familiar with.

Diana is only 18 years old, and Diana has about 20 songs of her own, including a mini-album of 4 songs, the presentations of which were on January 23, 2020, and on December 7, 2021 Diana's first full album was released, a few more songs were not included in the albums (this is from of Diana's earlier work or individual singles such as "Into the Sky" or The Wave of La Vague Naturally, all this and much more can be found on Diana's official channel.

He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, still just turned 27 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, (on hold until next year due to covid-19) he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He is about to start his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . For something in his more classical voices " Olympico". For vocalise "Ave Maria", but isn't what you would normally expect. For a real mixed bag of styles, I would suggest "Be with me". "Across endless dimensions" is a movie score that he performed.'Oceans over the time" he did for a video game. For something tradition in his own language, the Toyko Jazz Festival version of "Samaltau". Finally, there is an acapella version of "Sinful Passions", excepting the last 40 odd seconds of the song. Just some ideas for you.

Dimash SOS 2021 is on a whole new level. He has elevated this song so much and it is translated to English. He did a digital concert in January 2021 and all the songs are amazing. This was2017 and he did not win the singing competition.

The day after Dimash's "S.O.S." performance was aired on Chinese TV, he went from being unknown (at least in China) to requiring body guards...LITERALLY overnight. The next morning he couldn't leave his hotel without them. In 2018, they relaxed that rule, and Jesse J won. There's actually a video of her backstage hearing Dimash sing (he appeared as a guest rather than a contestant in 2018) and asking "Who is that?! He's amazing!" or something near those words.
No way has anyone else ever been able to match Dimash as flawlessly & seamlessly with this or any other song. Many vocal coaches use him as an example to follow. It is the era of Dimash who has raised the bar for future singers. They are older established professionals he was competing against, not his family. That's not his family members. Those people in the backroom were fellow competitors on this reality singing competition that is strictly for INVITED established professional singers. This reality singing competition is unlike others reality singing competitions. This stage was only open for invited established professional singers who's already popular in China (unless those invited singers are not from Chinese speaking countries like Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore). Dimash was the exception.....he was invited as an experimental wildcard entry....he totally shocked everyone on this show as well as China.

Great reaction as usual! OK, so this is a vocal competition. I think the older folks in the one room are judges, and the two younger people back stage that look nauseous are competitors who have to sing next. The rock star-looking younger guys in what looks like a green room (the ones you thought were his family) may also be competitors. The man Dimash hugged after he sang was his Dad-when you react to Opera 2 you’ll get a better look at him in the audience-at that point Dimash didn’t know he was there yet, and there’s an extended video of the song that shows him realize his Dad is there, and later he asks his Dad if he sang well-really sweet moment. Dimash can sing in whistle register, and we’ve heard him hit a D8 (that’s off the right end of the piano). Mitch is an awesome countertenor, but at least according to what I’ve read, his highest note is a B7 (which is already amazing). Honestly, while I’m super impressed Dimash can hit notes that high, it’s not his best sound. By the 7th or 8th octave he’s hitting dolphin territory. LOL.

Hello, this is a contest in China, to which Dimash was invited. Without knowing clearly that he could win. Hi Jeffrey, Brilliant reaction to this Dimash's first appearance Ep 1 of the Singer comp. He was invited as the wildcard and travelled from Kazakhstan to China just with a friend, his fellow competitors (not his family) had not been allowed to see him rehearse hence the surprise on their faces too seeing and hearing him for the first time. He was the youngest ever competitor at a then 22yrs old. Im going to check back to see your previous Dimash reaction and hope to see many more. Btw not sure what was wrong with the sound, your speaking was fine but the vid audio was crackling and fading in and out. Hope you dont mind me saying.👍👍👍😊😊
As others have already said the people backstage were his competitors and this was the first time most of them had heard him sing. A huge testament to his character is how many of them became his closest friends for his next three years in China and how much they cared for him when he became sick halfway through the show. I noticed you said it was a music video, it's actually just a TV recording. Dimash's official MVs have to be seen to be believed. He turns a music video into a separate art form.
I'd love to see you do a reaction to Dimash's version of Koji Tamaki's Ikanaide sung at the 2021 Tokyo Jazz Festival, even it's original composer has stated that he's never heard it sung more beautifully by a non Japanese artist.

It was 5y ago... he is the only one able to improve the perfection... please continue your journey with him: there are so many masterpieces to discover. He remains indeed very humble, even if he is a megastar in China. His exceptional personality is also a part of the very strong relation he has with his fans: he is always polite, he loves his family, his country and only breaths for music. And if you listen to some interviews, you can see how deep and sage he is, while he is still so young. I have never be a "fan" even if I really like some artists. But Dimash is unique, he is a part of my life, I can listen to his songs hundreds and hundreds times, I continue to be deeply touched every time by every note he sings.
All the time I've been listening to your reactions, I didn't even notice that you had not been exposed to the phenomenon that is Dimash. He is the solo performer equivalent of PTX. This is the first song I ever heard him sing and all that have followed have been equally impressive. And he covers so many different genres. This was a historic moment and this is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

You've barely touched upon the majesty that is Dimash.
He can sing in any key 7 octaves +, sing in 13 languages, plays 7 instruments, has a masters in music and working on PhD, can sing any genre. C1 to d8
The reason you can’t get Breton to do this equally as Dimash did it is because Dimash did it first 5 years ago at 22. Many vocal coaches have come to analyze this performance and sent their students to learn. The students call Dimash maestro. This was a “10” 5 years ago. The only way to measure anybody anyone against this performance is to go to Dimashs sos digital live performance 2021 which was a “10” 4 years later. Dimash did sos in 2017, with 2 masters in contemporary and classical music under his belt and having been 100% excepted for his PHD. In this song considered popopera by vocal coaches he had pop opera r&b rock belting and about ten different techniques and I think 4 octaves. He didn’t show everything here, but he didn’t have too. He wasn’t only the song. These were professional singers with their own fans. Because they were professionals they would have been allowed to have their own music or collabed therefore so would Dimash. By this time he would have had his master class in Broadway production. And, after singer he went straight into touring in China with his own music. So everything you saw ad heard was Dimash. He had almost 20 years in experience and education. Did you hear his chest voice? The same level as a classically trained opera singer.

His voice is a drug you will become addicted to. It is a wonderful disease, we Dears do not want to heal. He has a degree in all the aforementioned genres and the last degree he received is in composition. He has been attending the stage since he was 5 and at 6 he won first prize playing the piano. He plays 7 instruments, including piano, guitar, drums, dombra, xylophone and more. He sang in 12 languages but speaks 3. Try "Ogni Pietra (Olympico), Sinful Passion, Love is Like A Dream, S.O.S (Slavic Bazaar), Diva Dance, Drunken Concubine (duet with a male Peking Opera singer), Ikanaide", to name a few. Those videos are a good starting point. This extraordinary mega talented singer, has, I believe 7-8 Octaves. He can sing from low bass notes, tenor, counter tenor to soprano. As well as vocal fry, whistle notes, and incredible Central Eastern vocal styles. He basically doesn't conform to one type of singing. But blends different styles, from his classically trained opera, to pop, to RnB, to his native style, etc.... Every performance is sung differently, and he beautifully changes the composition of some of the cover songs he does. Watching Dimash's videos is like a journey! You get to see his hard work and extreme talent show through. So please, I hope you react to a few of his videos often!! Thanks in advance!

Love your reaction and explanation. His story telling is superb even when you don’t know the lyrics. Other performances in the Singer competition where he shot to overnight fame with SOS are based on true events and are well worth checking out. If you watch them in Gloria Wu’s channel she has the backstory to the songs as well as English captions. She does alter something slightly with his voice so I read in a comment so it gets passed being blocked. Day Break, Autumn Strong and Daididau are based in real events. He also does Freddy Mecury’s Show Must Go On. You have to excuse the pronunciation, first time singing in English with only a week to learn the lyrics. His vocalise performances of Know from his concerts are also awesome, but then so is everything he does

Diana is only 18 years old, and Diana has about 20 songs of her own, including a mini-album of 4 songs, the presentations of which were on January 23, 2020, and on December 7, 2021 Diana's first full album was released, a few more songs were not included in the albums (this is from of Diana's earlier work or individual singles such as "Into the Sky" or The Wave of La Vague Naturally, all this and much more can be found on Diana's official channel.

He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, still just turned 27 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, (on hold until next year due to covid-19) he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He is about to start his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. For something in his more classical voices " Olympico". For vocalise "Ave Maria", but isn't what you would normally expect. For a real mixed bag of styles, I would suggest "Be with me". "Across endless dimensions" is a movie score that he performed.'Oceans over the time" he did for a video game. For something tradition in his own language, the Toyko Jazz Festival version of "Samaltau". Finally, there is an acapella version of "Sinful Passions", excepting the last 40 odd seconds of the song. Just some ideas for you.

Dimash SOS 2021 is on a whole new level. He has elevated this song so much and it is translated to English. He did a digital concert in January 2021 and all the songs are amazing. This was2017 and he did not win the singing competition.
I don't know how he didn't, but the future has many plans for him!

The day after Dimash's "S.O.S." performance was aired on Chinese TV, he went from being unknown (at least in China) to requiring body guards...LITERALLY overnight. The next morning he couldn't leave his hotel without them. In 2018, they relaxed that rule, and Jesse J won. There's actually a video of her backstage hearing Dimash sing (he appeared as a guest rather than a contestant in 2018) and asking "Who is that?! He's amazing!" or something near those words.
No way has anyone else ever been able to match Dimash as flawlessly & seamlessly with this or any other song. Many vocal coaches use him as an example to follow. It is the era of Dimash who has raised the bar for future singers. They are older established professionals he was competing against, not his family. Please watch this older masterpiece from his Bastau concert called Adai+Daididau. You’ve most likely never seen anything like this. That's not his family members. Those people in the backroom were fellow competitors on this reality singing competition that is strictly for INVITED established professional singers. This reality singing competition is unlike others reality singing competitions. This stage was only open for invited established professional singers who's already popular in China (unless those invited singers are not from Chinese speaking countries like Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore). Dimash was the exception.....he was invited as an experimental wildcard entry....he totally shocked everyone on this show as well as China.

OK, so this is a vocal competition. I think the older folks in the one room are judges, and the two younger people back stage that look nauseous are competitors who have to sing next. The rock star-looking younger guys in what looks like a green room (the ones you thought were his family) may also be competitors. The man Dimash hugged after he sang was his Dad-when you react to Opera 2 you’ll get a better look at him in the audience-at that point Dimash didn’t know he was there yet, and there’s an extended video of the song that shows him realize his Dad is there, and later he asks his Dad if he sang well-really sweet moment.
Dimash can sing in whistle register, and we’ve heard him hit a D8 (that’s off the right end of the piano). Mitch is an awesome countertenor, but at least according to what I’ve read, his highest note is a B7 (which is already amazing). Honestly, while I’m super impressed Dimash can hit notes that high, it’s not his best sound. By the 7th or 8th octave he’s hitting dolphin territory. LOL.

Hi Jeffrey, Brilliant reaction to this Dimash's first appearance Ep 1 of the Singer comp. He was invited as the wildcard and travelled from Kazakhstan to China just with a friend, his fellow competitors (not his family) had not been allowed to see him rehearse hence the surprise on their faces too seeing and hearing him for the first time. He was the youngest ever competitor at a then 22yrs old. Im going to check back to see your previous Dimash reaction and hope to see many more. Btw not sure what was wrong with the sound, your speaking was fine but the vid audio was crackling and fading in and out. Hope you dont mind me saying.👍👍👍😊😊
