    Went to Autozone this morning and those codes came up so I made an appointment with Toyota this morning to look at my car next week. Then I found your video and went back to autozone and bought my coils and spark plugs. Even bought my own code machine. Will replace them all tomorrow morning and then will cancel Toyota appointment. I most likely paid for the parts what they would have charged for just labor. Thanks

    Hey update. I did this exact check and sure enough I had a bad coil. I bought a new Denso coil online from some Toyota OEM place and I decided to change all spark plugs too with new iridiums. Perfect video to help me do this myself. I REALLY appreciate it man. 180,000 miles and running strong again.

      And the sad thing is it wouldnt have taken them but 20 minutes to replace it, if not all. Then let it sit there to make it seem as if it was the necessary time spent before letting you know it's ready.

    • @yodead369
      @yodead369 2 года назад

      Yeah the factory coils like $199 each. Unless you get the aftermarket for like $49 each. About $150 an hour for labor plus taxes fees 422.00 lmao

    • @nickyang1265
      @nickyang1265 Год назад

      I guess Toyota must ask you to replace all of the 4 coils. Otherwise, the cost shouldn't be so expensive.

    207,000 miles and just had 2 coils go litteraly a few hours apart. Felt it go from 4 to 3 to 2 cylinders. Still ran though lol. Took a few minutes to hit speed, and hills were no fun. Anyway, your video helped me diagnose which coils were bad. Thank you sir! 0h more side note, Car is running great however driving around for A-day on 2 cylinders has now seemed to have caused an o2 sensor to go bad. Ill replace that soon.

    My wife’s Corolla is idling like a Harley. I got codes for misfires in 3 and 4 and a bad crank shaft sensor. I switched out the sensors and it helped some but still not good. I was going to just change the plugs but I’ll have to try switching up the coils to see if the codes change first and see if I need new coils too. 👍

    No change when swapping coils or with a new coil, car runs smooth for a couple hundred feet of driving then misfire comes back, shut it off turning back on car runs good for a short time them misfire is back, bad fuel injector or possibly pcm is shutting off power to the injector? A couple of weeks ago multi cylinder misfire came up, replaced all coils was fine for a couple of weeks until now, 236,000 miles on car. There's another video on here where a shop replaced the plugs coils maybe injectors and the pcm for a similiar issue, it was ultimately diagnosed as a dead cylinder and the engine had to be replaced. I'm trying to Help my neighbor by fixing her car, I don't have a scan tool however just an actron code reader, I'm stumped.

      P0302 is cylinder 2 misfire, could be a coil, spark plug, injector, compression ect... but yes p0302 indicates its misfiring on #2, which is 2nd to the front of the engine on this car.

    Thanks for a great troubleshooting vide. I also got P0302 code in my corolla. Anyone please advise me if I did this right. I swapped the coil 1 with coil 2 and start the engine - still same code. So I think the coil is good but spark plug in 2 is bad. Anyway I ordered new spark plugs and waiting for delivery. Will update after I got the spark plugs replaced.

      I wouldn't say need for this fix but torque specs don't hurt at all, thats whats recommended. I don't have those readily available for you.

    I'm having a issue with coils right now on 2003 Corolla. My in law changed the plugs and he was putting the coil back in and apparently he dropped a piece of plastic from the socket packet he jus bought. I didn't notice bcuz he started on his own. Today i looked in there and plastic was not allowing the boot to go over, so like a genius he holds it down and tightens it. I think that damaged my coil bcuz car was running fine before, now it's misfiring, so im waiting on my set of coils to come in. Jus gonna change them all i think they are manufactured part and this car has nearly 300,000 miles on it.

    Replaced my coil pack and now my car won’t start. Radio won’t even turn on. Did I blow a fuse? Or is a bad coil?

      Radio won’t turn on ,it’s mean no electric, maybe blow a fuse 😮

    Do you have to gap the NGK laser Iridium plugs ?

    • @FixItPhillip
      @FixItPhillip  4 года назад +2

      No you do NOT gap them, it will damage the plugs. They are pregapped ready to go

      I bought a small torque wrench 0 to 80 ft-lbs I heard the torque for 14mm aluminum head is around 15 to 20 ft-lbs , Do you agree its for a 2009 corolla 1.8 liter

      @@walleyehunter8862 i just looked it up. For a 2az-fe engine its 14 ft lbs. If its a 2zr-fe engine its 15 ft lbs. On the white engine sticker under hood will show which engine you have, please be sure to subscribe, much appreciated!
