There's actually quite a few Asian gay dating shows similar to this that you can watch, which I highly recommend: *His Man - Korea (season 2 is the best!) *Boys Like Boys - Taiwan *Sparks Camp - Philippines (season 2 is so good, I like how it's not just focused on romance but also in sharing queer stories)
I loved all the His Man seasons - a great way to learn a bit about the gay culture in conservative S Korea. Boys Like Boys was so cute and fun with a totally different vibe coming from the 1st Asian country with Equal Marriage laws and gay rights. Haven't seen Sparks Camp yet - thanks for the reminder! Another for the list is BROMANCE from Thailand - this one has 1 dream guy + 16 "contestants" - completely different style from a country that's always had a visible queer community and the 1st SE Asian country to approve same-sex marriage (famously featured a cameo appearance from 2 popular BL actors - one of whom just came out, along with his equally famous boyfriend!)

Asia is BIG on good gay dating reality shows. Korea : His Man season 1, 2, currently 3. Japan : The Boyfriend, (Netflix), first season 2024 . Philippines : Sparks Camp season 1 2023 , currently season 2 (so funny and endearing ,my favourite) Hong Kong : Boyscation (2022) Taiwan : Boys like boys (2023) Not seen yet : Love House - Boys Love from Vietnam. It's in the air (to be confirmed) : BeOnCloud might be preparing the first Thai gay dating show. Thailand already had Bromance in 2021, but it's a Bachelor-type show, everyone competing for the same guy ( Max and Tul were special guests in episode 4)
As for same sex marriage in Asia : no, not in Japan ( i think they have a civil partnership of some sort) Only three countries allow that : Nepal, Taiwan, and now Thailand ( the two Houses approved the Bill last month , they are just waiting for the King to sign it, a formality) .
Watching the show, I was surprised by how much I was wrong about Dai. He was very passionate person, but I never thought he would be a very patient person, and kind too. But my fav would be Ikuo. I like his energy and how he lives his life very freely and honestly.
