Fantastic cover. Easily one of the finest R.E.M. covers I've yet heard. In the early 90s there was an R.E.M. tribute album called Surprise Your Pig....well, I recall buying it at Tower and wow, mainly, it sucked ass. And that's being kind. My main complaint with that CD was a lot of stupid piss-takes on their songs, goofing on them, I never liked "tribute" albums that did that, for some reason. Some band did a horrendous cover of Losing My Religion with the singer Cookie Monster grunting his way through the song--I felt like smacking him upside the head. Doing your own take on a song is one thing, but mutilating it is quite another. I think I threw the CD in the trash. If only your cover here was on that album! Nothing wrong with doing it straight but bringing your own talents to it.
@@wallabioman Anytime! I'd just run across your cover last night playing tons of R.E.M. again. I've been hitting the guitar practice hard the past few months, including tons of R.E.M. as it happens. I'm gonna take a crack at Half A World Away tonight on the 12-string here.
