    I'm banging my head against the same wall with my warrior. But I haven't figured out the solution yet, but this is why I love these games, to figure out these problems. I'm also old enough to be too stubborn to rely on guides and tips

      I couldn't beat the molten boss with warrior until I switched to a slam and shout combo

    There's a node that every attack produces power charges. It's a good upgrade for monk

    Love the video! That’s exactly how I love playing the game! I‘m totally new to PoE, never really played the first one (tried it once) and still I have no problems understanding the game mechanics or anything! It does a really great job explaining itself to the player and open up step by step instead of overwhelming a newcomer with all the possibilities at once! That’s a huge difference compared to its predecessor!
    In general I figured out playing games, especially rpgs is way more fun to me, when playing them absolutely blind. Figuring things out by myself makes me pay more attention to everything and not uncommonly even get a better understanding of them instead of just looking them up.

    The main thing you need to understand as a new player is the difference between "% increased damage" and "% more damage". That alone will tripple your DPS instantly.

    Ok, don't take this as a "You need 3rd party software to play this game" kind of things, however, at least for me, using something like maxrolls build planner helps with removing the "I'm in game, I want to kill things, I don't want to read a bunch"-stress from the passive tree. I don't look at other builds but I use it to create my own build because when I'm in game I get stressed by the passive tree because opening it I feel like I need to read what each node does and when I'm in game I just want to blast! Hope you understand what I mean, you don't need it but it can help.

    If you're not doing it already, put hexbloom on your hand of chayula. It will help a lot with your campaign progression if you're adamant on using the skill. This advice was provided by a no-lifer invoker monk.

    • @ryandugan9176
      @ryandugan9176 3 дня назад +1

      My aim as a chayula monk is to make hand of chayula my single button in a build, and I think the way to do that will be with conversion to chaos uniques and this tech combined with archmage. Having hexes also do a dot that freezes enemies and scales with mana.
      Currently I’m running a detonate dead necromancer setup with chayula monk and it’s very strong since the added chaos damage ascendancy node is essentially a 30% average damage multiplier to a flat scaling % of target's hp. It's probably the strongest early mapper I've played. By level 70 I was able to comfortably juice tier 10 breaches, and the fact you get a ton of free chaos resistance from the second set of points further smoothes that early stage of getting geared in maps.

    I really think they could use a DPS race boss like this a lot earlier in the game, I really suffered through Act 2 normal because I was pretty good at managing boss attack patterns and my trash clearing felt fine, so I thought when it was taking 20 minutes to fight the end of act boss maybe that's just how it was meant to be. I think for me my aha moment was a bit earlier in Act 3 but it was this same boss fight you talk about that put it in perspective that if I hadn't changed I would have been screwed.
    I think if there had been something similar much sooner in the game it would have helped me not go too far down the path of trusting that as long as I was surviving I was playing well.

    • @CaffeinatedDad
      @CaffeinatedDad  4 дня назад +3

      The passive skill gem combat frenzy grants a frenzy charge when you electrocute freeze or pin an enemy. Using the passive skill resonance turns those frenzy generation points into power charges.
      Tempest flurry has electrocute and neural overload that spams electrocute mainly

    Im right there too, but not hitting a wall yet, I only use my basic attack with my monk... full physical build, im in curelty end of akt 2 and have no probs... testing all the pure physical spells and builds but nothing deals more dmg than my autoattacks that way... evenflickerstrike, I use it cause I also use all the palm abilitys, but it isnt that much more dmg than my autoattack. I also play chayula, and took all the defensive notes, not into the breach, I dont like that spell at all. Lets see when I will hit a wall. Im lvl 55 and use a lvl 28 Quaterstaff still.. cause it stats are insanely good. 160 DPS and I still push thourgh kinda easy.

    This vid does highlight how undertuned one ascendency is compared to another. Lightning monk far outperforms chaos monk. Lightning across the board seems more powerful. There is something funky when a warrior with lightning bow is a faster clearer and more tanky than a melee warrior. Kinda feel sorry for all the people that chose warrior as their first char. Ease of play is night and day compared to a minion witch or spark sorc.

    • @ryandugan9176
      @ryandugan9176 3 дня назад

      Far outperforms is very relative. Yes invoker has a lot of easy to understand power, but acolyte gets a free 30% damage ascendency and some very potent defensive layers. The biggest mistake acolyte players seem to make is fixating on quarterstaff as a weapon. Acolyte makes a great detonate dead necromancer, an insane drain tank crossbower, one of the safest dot stack bow wand characters, and some very potent on. Once we have more weapons available acolyte will only get stronger, where invoker is so popular it is likely to be nerfed.

    Point of the game is that only a set of gems work for monk, and you forced to use them, you only figured out that all the other skill gems are bad and the whole game is unbalanced when it comes to build diversity.
