    First of all, amazing job. I really like seeing this kind of thing.
    I have several questions and I would love it if you could answer them if you think it's appropriate.
    Where can you buy the molds for the balls? Are these molds standard for certain chips or does each chip have a different mold? Are the balls expensive or hard to come by? At what temperature do you set the heat gun?
    I know these are a lot of questions, but I'm very curious and I would love it if you could answer my doubts.

    Sir, My sony laptop has amd discrete graphics. I cannot installed the legacy or manufacture graphic drivers in 10 0s . I downgrade it to 8.1 os. The original graphics driver can't be installed even in 8.1 os now too.Previously this drivers can be installed. If i forcefully installed, it stated not connected hardware. After sometimes, it ll give black or blue screen, and also high cpu usage. Everytime I need to keep disable discrete amd graphics in the bios if i installed the driver. How far it ll be true it's due to amd graphics hardware faulty? Thank for ur awesome valuable video

    This model of chip is notorious for developing repeat failures, replacing it is the recommended action. They are fairly cheap too, $20-$30 for brand new high quality chip. Find a reliable seller and do not buy the cheapest one you find as the cheaper chips are either used (reballed) or remarked with a newer datecode. Those are unreliable.
    For BGA chip suppliers i recommend ic-chipset.com, hklrf.com and see-ic on ebay. The prices are higher than you will find on aliexpress for example, but you will always get a reliable result. With chips i bought from these suppliers i have had no returns, whereas a bunch of chips bought on aliexpress have failed to work from the start or failed in the testing period, before getting delivered to the client.
    I am currently employed in a repair shop but am looking to start my own business, have just ordered a Honton HT-R392 station on ebay yesterday, it was the best i could afford. I have my own DIY station using an old toaster and a hot air station with special bga nozzles (also ebay), but it doesn't cut it for the thin, sensitive chips they are putting in nowadays. This type of chip shown in this video i can do with my station, recent ones not so much. I am also not very mechanically inclined, and having a day job and a girlfriend means not much spare time for hobby projects, so i have decided to buy a station.
    At work we have a Puhui TX-999 which is a piece of crap really, it required a bunch of modifications to even be somewhat usable, and about every couple months a wire, switch or connection fails on it. If you are going to spend money on a rework station, something in the $800 to $1000 range should be considered as a minimum, it will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.

    I have Lenovo ideapad z470 core7 with Nvidia gt550m, now the problem is that the Nvidia graphics are not registering, and when u go to device manager, its bring an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle.
    And they only appear to work when being pressed on. Do they need that also?

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  7 лет назад +1

      Hello, if you mean the infrared panels then yes you can find them only in 220v version (i bought them on ebay, the big one is 800 watt and the small one is 450 watt ) i guess you will have to use a step up voltage converter

    • @uN1Qu3DZ
      @uN1Qu3DZ 7 лет назад +1

      You can find heaters in 110V version also. Be aware that the current is higher due to the lower voltage, so you will need to use thicker cable than you would use for 220V, and also the rework station should be on a dedicated mains circuit capable of at least 32A.

    Hi Nik, maybe my comment is too old for this video, but i need your urgent respon here. so, right now i was doing reballing a ps4 blod in APU chipset, when i was desoldering the old solder balls from the chipset, it accidentally slipped off from my desk and now it has a lite cracked (thin cracked as thin as hair) on the glass side of the chip, but the result on my reballing is failed! my question is, based on your experience have you ever facing same situation like that? how about the chip itself, does it absolutely dead? (i'm asking this because i had tested it with "washer tricks" before doing reballing and the console is works -just only a few minutes which means the chipset is fine) i hope you understand with my text, and thank you so much for your respon ASAP Nik

      Hello Nina, this never happen to me, but i think that this chip is no longer reliable, in my opinion the crack will progress because of the thermal cycle and the chip will stop working eventually, i would use a new chip (just my opinion)

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  6 лет назад

      Hello, no it does not damage the chip, to solder a bga chip on the board you need ~245°C (220°C melting temp for leadfree solder),
      soldering the chip and operating temp is not the same thing.
      reflow also repairs bga cracks but reballing is more reliable

    of excellent quality, I have an achii r6000, and I'm having difficulties in rebaling bigger chips like video card, I think I'm not using the ideal profile for this type of chip. How do you pass me your profile?

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  7 лет назад

      Hello, can you tell me the dimensions and how many watts the lower heater is ?if you are reballing smaller chips with success then the profile is fine ,i think you have weak lower heater, the heater that i use on my rework station is 18*18cm 800 watts

    • @uN1Qu3DZ
      @uN1Qu3DZ 7 лет назад

      The IR6000 is notorious for having an uneven upper heater. You should look into upgrading the top heater with an Elstein plate. This should significantly improve your success rate.
      Also try turning the bottom plates higher, what i found works best is starting a profile on the top heater when the chip is already at 150-160C using the bottom heater alone. Then the top heater has less work to do and there is less heat hitting the BGA directly, thus the risk of popcorning is reduced.
      For professional work you should consider upgrading to a 3-zone machine.

    You do know the actual problem is the microbumps buried inside the underfill right? Reballing will not fix the problem. The chip itself is faulty. All you did was melt and move the microbumps around making contact again.

    What's the point of reballing, when it's not the solder balls are the problem, but the chip itself?

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  7 лет назад +1

      i do reballings many years and my repairs hold also for many years, but you seem very sure about where the problem is

    • @cieknie
      @cieknie 7 лет назад +2

      I'm very sure that reballing is basically a scam.
      There are 2 layers of solder balls: under the silicon die, and under the PCB of the the whole chip. If GPU is f****d - then we have 99,99% chance that the problem is not under the whole chip, but under the die.
      CPUs are made with the "wire bond" technique and they almost never die.
      Doing reballing is pointless - result will be the same as after simple reflow.
      www.researchgate.net/profile/Krishnamoorthi_Sivalingam/publication/3423748/figure/fig1/AS:394653665906693@1471104174699/Fig-1-One-piece-lid-high-performance-flip-chip-BGA-HP-fcBGA-package.jpg

    • @cieknie
      @cieknie 7 лет назад +2

      Oh, i forgot to mention that in laptops with AMD CPUs you also have faulty NB chips that vill also surely die. It's just a matter of time.

    • @NikTelio
      @NikTelio  7 лет назад +1

      my friend...either you are 100% sure about something or not it all,
      you seem to ignore what i am saying, i reball laptops many years and in worst case scenario the repair will last about a year many still work after 4-5 years every day use.
      I'm NOT an EXPERT and my opinion is based only on my experience that i have all these years.
      I agree that chips made with the "wire bond" technique almost never die.
      I agree that there are 2 layers of solder balls: under the silicon die (FCBGA), and under the PCB of the the whole chip BGA.
      I agree that the problem lies in the FCBGA sometimes and the board can be repaired only with a new chip.
      But i don't agree that 99,99% the chip is dead, i can't agree because the results that i see all these years simply do not agree with what you are saying.
      Thank you for your comment.

    Ciao Nik!
    I have a Sony Vaio SVE1511MFXS with Intel HD graphics 4000, Intel I7 3840QM, Windows 10
    According to this: www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/?generation=HD+Graphics-M&sort=generation
    Iris Pro Graphics 5200 is the last GPU with the same bus.
    Does this mean I could upgrade my GPU to this using the same method as shown in your video?
    Thank You

      Hi, replacing a bga chip is easy but the new cpu must be compatible and supported by your motherboard and bios
