Fantastic interview, thank you for sharing! Eliot is a gift. After seeing him in concert, I’ve never known it was possible to feel such strong and beautiful presence from a human being. He’s carrying a torch we can’t ever let extinguish. I really loved his final remarks. Wise and insightful
Great Maestro gave everyone an inspiration and aspiration to all musicians, artists and guitarists to go further in pursuing their career or art. A well worth journey as musician.
QUÉ chulada de entrevista!!! (Y) He sido fan de Eliot Fisk desde niño y he disfrutado mucho las anécdotas y consejos que en este video él comenta. MUCHAS GRACIAS por compartirlo :)
yes, fantastic Eliot Fisk! I got his Segovia "Cancions de popular..." and proceeded to learn it all by ear many years ago..(well, most of it anyway ;).during my full blown spanish/classical guitar phase, which started by a cassette I happened across of "Duets with Spanish Guitar" -with Sandy Terri (flute) and Laurendo Almedia (guitar). and whatever I could get my hands on...such as lullaby music.. Christmas music..Fingerhut had a very interesting cassette of Christmas music which proves very fruitful for my Classical Guitar Christmas Medley...I consider all my own arrangements due to Gleaning parts from every Instrument, and playing it on guitar. a very nice version of "We 3 Kings of Orient are" cadenced, and festive... anyway.. this learning by ear began back in the early 70's on drums.. learned all Zeppelin/ Bonham perfectly within a year or so...by ear.. then by 18, Michael Schenker..note for note and all by ear..and every great soloist..in fact perfected the best popular solos way before ever learning the names of the basic open chords..but was playing them, plus barr chords 7th..minor 7th etc.. featured in the music I was learning.. I went for the most impressive I could find...back then..Ric Emmits Petite Etude..etc etc ..every rock blues even a lot of smooth jazz..then about 14 years into playing guitar...happened upon the cassettes mentioned earlier. Plus several others..finally learned notation, then tab.. but most satisfying was performing various Segovia Cancions in church at special occasions..such as "Emperado...for a particularly nice Easter play segment...next to a cross with the lights dimmed..and "my classical guitar medley, and a couple Catalana Christmas songs...Played a few different Segovia, (performed by Eliot Fisk on his Segovia CD highlighting his music and original regional folk songs...one particular piece..during a 9-11 service...yes this is the time frame..about 2000-2004, played it to a video film...and it was magnificent.. these were my "ace in the hole repertoire" ..such distinguished musicianship and guitar mastery of Segovia, and Fisks incredible true interpretation of them... Eliot, you are a MASTER of the same vein as Segovia.. God bless you...
i dont read music as such so create my own amusment a lot , so my pieces become stories, eliot as a lot of stories about other people as well of his own , very interesting documentary .interview,, light at the end of the tunnel I read in the captions.. very true indeed , form some one who has had to try and survive in our world will understand this knowledge to pass on. some call it hope .. " will power " is better and as he sais not forced upon others but help them. didn't relise what a guy he is...cheers happy Christmas........
eliot hat auch eine spruce/maple gitarre mit 2. schalloch in der zarge u. ich habe auch ein solches stück u. weiß die vorteile sich besser hören zu können.
To my ear Fisk plays as though he wants to physically hurt the instrument. Usually he produces a horrible harsh tone and is generally more preoccupied in what he probably thinks is virtuosity rather than with artistry.
4:14 Gluing a clear plastic shield on the face of your guitar isn't exactly esthetically pleasing nor good for acoustics. Besides, what kind of violent action is he trying to protect his guitar from?
Fantastic! Eliot Fisk is a poet, a brilliant technician, and a historical scholar of the guitar. Thank you for this beautiful piece.

3:23 Carrying your guitar for long distance isn't exactly the best thing for your hands before a performance...
