Ajahn Jayasaro (Shaun Michael Chiverton) was born on the Isle of Wight, England in 1958.He joined Ajahn Sumedho’s community for the Rains Retreat as an anagarika in 1978.In 1978 he became a disciple of Ajahn Cha, one of Thailand’s most renowned Buddhist monks and meditation masters, at Wat Pa Pong in Northeast Thailand. He took full ordination, with Ajahn Chah as his preceptor, in 1980. After his initial five year monastic training, Ajahn Jayasaro went on extended solitary retreat before taking on teaching and administrative duties. Over the next several years he alternated between periods of retreat and service to his monastic lineage.During this period he was entrusted by the elders of his order with writing the official biography of his teacher, Ajahn Chah. In 1997 he assumed the position of abbot of Wat Pa Nanachat, the international monastery of Ajahn Chah’s lineage, where he remained until the end of 2002.
Since early 2003 Ajahn Jayasaro has been living alone in a hermitage at the foot of Khao Yai Mountain national park. The Dhamma teachings and meditation retreats he gives at regular intervals at a nearby retreat centre offer inspiration to both lay Buddhists and monastics. He is also a key figure in the movement to integrate Buddhist developmental principles in the Thai education system. Many of his Dhamma talks are broadcast on radio and television.
Ajahn Jayasaro has written many books on Buddhist themes in the Thai language, a number of which have been translated into other languages, including Chinese, French, Italian and Portuguese. His latest English work, "without and within" is a general introduction to the Theravada Buddhist tradition.
Ajahn Jayasaro spends a month a year out of Thailand. His most recent teaching engagements have been in Qatar, China and Bhutan. In 2011 Ajahn Jayasaro was granted an honorary doctorate in Buddhist Pedagogy by Mahachulalongkorn Rajavidyalaya University.
Dhamma Talk
OMG. My first time listening to this monk’s talk. I love it! So wise. So practical. I will list to your other talks. Thank you! ❤

An amazing teacher who articulated the Buddha's teachings with such clarity and connectedness. Sadhu sadhu sadhu
There is so much to take from this talk. I have been quite stressed and negative recently but Ajahn Jayasaro has reminded me that I do try. I do value the wholesome over the unwholesome. His words brought beautiful and nourishing tears to my eyes. People who so genuinely study the dharma such as Ajahn Jayasaro are beacons in the World. The feeling of gratitude for his words is just one gift. Thank you.
The talk about right speech, especially about backbiting, is very helpful. I find it the most difficult part of the Noble Eightfold Path.
I'm a monk living in Bangkok, Thailand. I have been searching for an English Dhammadesana( Dhamma's talk). Ajarn's English pronuonciation is very easy to understand and it's very useful helpful for me to learn Dhamma and develop my English in the same time. I want to pay respect to Ajarn Jayasaro and thank you very much for uploading these videos.
Best teaching on fundamental aspects of Buddhism. Sadhu sadhu sadhu 🙏🙏🙏
I want something, I’m not getting it, I don’t like it. Suffering. Patient endurance is the antidote. I learnt something.
Wonderful! Thank you Ajahn Jayassaro and thank you to those who facilitated the message. 🙏🙏🙏
50:00 No time for anger. Life is too short. Anger takes me away from nibbāna, from peace & true happiness.
Thank you for your helpful message, Venerable, Ajahn Jayasaro.
A treasure of insight
When we act upon intention, all beings are the owners of their action . And inherit the results .thank you Ajahn
Wonderful talk! Thank you Ajahn Jayasaro. Thank you uploader. :)
Life's purpose is nothing if not striving for Nirbana. Sooner or later people will come to this realization. Running round and round like a bandit of karma in the cosmic samsara. One should stop and ask what's it all for? A few laughs, a few cries and a whole lot of Dukkhas. Is it worth it?
SuperBat It is not worth it! But it is not so easy to get off this hamster wheel.
@@lordbyron3603 True. But how much effort & exhaustion to stay on the treadmill of the ratrace.
@@leonstenutz6003 I posted the above comment 4 years ago ; a year later , a Triple Hit , Stage 4, Cancer hits me - DLBCL ! With Cachexia, Ascites and Lymphedema eating away my body . Doctors gave me 4-6 weeks tops. Given my condition,, I didn’t want to live anymore . I wanted to die ! But Destiny/Life intervened - and scooped me up from the brink of death. From that day forward , the rat race ended!
For me, to get off the treadmill and merry-go-round , Death needed to pay me a visit. But for some reason , He didn’t take me ! I’m still here …. wondering why ? Others with the same diagnosis fighting alongside me were taken , including a dear close friend ; but I wasn’t.
Although I’m in remission and Ned - no evidence of disease , Life is at a standstill. I’m much calmer now and more at peace with myself.
This is such an inspiring dhamma talks.
Beautiful explanation of buddhism and practical way to move to happiness
Thank you for this very direct teaching.

Very wise.
Inspiring!!!!
Great dhamma! Sardhu Sardhu Sardhu
Thanks for emphasizing that defilement can be lessened in the Middle Way. It's the Noble 8 folds path, which can lead to real happiness.
Genius this guy
Very good talk :) This was one where I had to listen to a teacher that in many ways is "different" than my own. He had a few things that gave me a new way to approach things. While at the same time some things that...."Nope don't buy." But that is OK that is why I listened. I do wish he would do (as many teachers do) express where he isn't in agreement with most of the other teachers out there. Not to will just confuse students when they stumble upon the differences later.
We understand that we evolve differently, therefore it's normal to have disagreement, we only talk to people who want to listen.
Sadhu Sadhu kha

Why do you have to be RUDE, you and your folks should be under the big Mud. be victims of ignorance forever. Oh well, in this world, people evolve from cave mentality.
