    Beautiful boat! Seeing it come out reminds me of us getting hauled out in Charleston. Hope to continue the journey and make it down to that area this winter! Would be awesome to see you guys out on the water!

      You all finished with the trip? I’m only up to your NJ video - another stomping ground of mine at the Atlantic Highlands where you docked. Did you know they restored “Galileo”, the Original Star Trek series shuttle craft at the marina there? There’s a RUclips video and documentary on it.

    Tough work but hopefully rewarding once you see your results. Once I am retired I welcome the opportunity to make these solo trips with you and add some elbow grease to the task, it would be a good learning experience.

    The best zincs are from a company called ZIMAR in Davie, FL. Top quality zinc used. Have used them on our boats and they work extremely well.

    You need a dustless blaster to blast the bottom and props ,I had my bottom done last year

  • @paulbrancov7037
    @paulbrancov7037 10 месяцев назад +3

    Hey Tommy.
    Propspeed is amazing!!!
    I used it for the first time last year and when I hauled out the boat in the fall up here in NJ all the metals looked like I just painted it.
    I also notice I burned less gas and got a few more knots…
    A little bit on the pricey side but well worth it.

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  10 месяцев назад

      I’ve considered it but heard mixed reviews on it. Did you do it yourself? I’ve heard it’s difficult.

    • @paulbrancov7037
      @paulbrancov7037 10 месяцев назад +1

      I did it myself.
      it’s all about the prep work.
      Sanding/wire wheel all my metals and making sure no barnacles, old paint, dust or oily prints.
      Then once you’re ready to paint and you mix the hardener into the paint you will be on the clock.
      This stuff dries quickly so no Miller time breaks…

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  10 месяцев назад

      @paulbrancov7037 no miller breaks? That may be the dealbreaker. Lol

      I use propspeed after one year in water props and shafts and Rutter look like I just did it I'm on Texas Gulf coast, I had a dustless blaster guy come to the boat yard blasted all running gear and hull to original gell coat he did it on about 3 hours then I painted the bottom and applied the propspeed.

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  10 месяцев назад

      @douglasthompson3787 what did the blasting cost you? I’m hearing they charge about $9k per boat here in Florida.

    Strange how different the bottom areas looked. I wonder what the explanation is? Hope the work went faster than expected! We just sanded and painted our bottom but had unexpected help this year. Just catching up on your videos. Nice job!

    Can't believe that's only a year. With brand new paint

  • @r7boatguy
    @r7boatguy 10 месяцев назад +1

    Lack of growth on the bottom may just be because there's much less light getting down there. Kind of the same on the dock piling wrap, the barnacles only go down so far.

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  10 месяцев назад

      I was thinking that but it is too defined fore/aft. And that doesn’t explain the paint peeling. Who knows.

  • @jrac863
    @jrac863 10 месяцев назад +1

    Tom you should get a lift at your house to keep the boat out of the water

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  10 месяцев назад +1

      Let’s see how the good paint does. A lift won’t help us when we’re traveling weeks on end.

  • @darrellyoung9586
    @darrellyoung9586 10 месяцев назад +2

    I find it odd too that barnacles are some places but not others. Actual bottom looks good. Did the barnacles on the zincs keep them from being consumed ? Lots of work to do by yourself.

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  10 месяцев назад

      The zinc barnacle issue is also odd. Some wore away as normal(trim tabs). But the thruster zincs were in good shape but covered with barnacle. I’m guessing they may not be bonded well to the other metals. Need to check that.

    Don’t you have a hull shield unit? Could transducer placement cause the patchiness?

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  10 месяцев назад

      We’ve just upgraded our hullshield to a 2 controller system with 8 transducers. The lines were to defined to be a hullshield issue.

    What's it cost to haul out and store on one that size ?

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  10 месяцев назад +1

      Depends on length of time. But it cost us $500 to pull boat, pressure wash and store for the week in the work yard while we did the work.

    • @jonnooney7102
      @jonnooney7102 10 месяцев назад +2

      I would have guessed 1200...that's not so bad.@@AdventuresofHappyOurs

      @jonnooney7102 agreed. Very affordable boatyard but hard to get to.

    Did you have any zebra mussel problems when in the Hudson?

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  10 месяцев назад

      Nothing major. It stayed pretty clean on the Hudson’s fresh water. I used west marine cpp paint once a year.

    How expensive is it to have a boat that size lifted and sat on the hard per day?

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  9 месяцев назад

      Don’t recall the per day amount. For the 5 days with power wash was only $550

    I always get nervous when the travel hauler picks my boat up with those little straps every time. looks to me like you have nerves of steel.😅😅😅. You might try Spraying some acid on your hull before taking your life into your own hands and sliding under the boat to scrape it

  • @rumboldj1
    @rumboldj1 10 месяцев назад +1

    Doesn't look like they properly painted the sides.. The sides should have looked just like the bottom .

  • @dankingjr.2088
    @dankingjr.2088 10 месяцев назад +1

    The difference between the hull sections is definitely odd. Got to be some sort of logical explanation.

  • @RickyBobby-j4m
    @RickyBobby-j4m 10 месяцев назад +1

    Your paint looks horrible for 1 year. Not sure what ablative you previously used but I would definitely consider a different one for this year. Also, whatever diver you use to clean the bottom should be fired unless it's been 6 months since he showed up.

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  10 месяцев назад

      Claim was total boat ablative. But it obviously was 2 different paints. I dove on it myself but couldn’t keep up with the substandard side.

    IMHO bottom scrape/sand/paint is THE worst job on a boat. 😫
