It's kinda weird but ultimately Chris got tired of rom hacking, and this WAS going to be the last build, but two weeks later it got picked back up again to actually get finished (Chris is still creative director but that's about it, the rest of the team is finishing it up. Not much in the way of adding stuff, but cleaning it up to not have so many duplicate stars and finishing up an "ending" for the game, as well as fixing some of the code up a bit) Also I love that this starts off as exactly what Preservation Project sets out to do, but the second you get past Bowser 1, the whole thing opens up and you've got WAAAAAAAAAY more to do Oh, and about the AI art thing vs dream thing, it's kinda both. A lot of stuff comes from the iceberg (including the AI thing). That, coupled with the stuff from other rom hacks and the beta assets that were found in the 2020 gigaleak, really makes this project feel like the collective subconscious awareness of Mario 64 to that point. Like, people have had dreams about some of the stuff in this game and it was notable enough to be added in some form. And the AI also isn't just generating stuff at random, but stuff tailor made to your experience with the game. So yeah, effectively it's both a dreamy/nightmarish version of Super Mario 64, as well as a bit of (probably unintentional) critique of AI produced content

This build actually has a Real Time Clock (or RTC for short) support that N64 used for the Japanese version of Animal Crossing (The American and European released only for Gamecube, while in Japan it got released so early that it was on the N64). That's why areas turn dark and songs slow down, it's because you're playing at night or close to being the night time. If you want, you can change the computer time or if you don't want to change the time on the computer and you have Parallel Launcher, you can change the clock there to get it without waiting. Overall, great video! Edit: Updated grammar and made things more clear.

Each beta castle lobby has a double door that leads/warps you to beta Castle Grounds, but for certain beta lobbies, it would lead/warp you to either nighttime Castle Grounds or Daytime Castle Grounds, no matter what time it is in reality. It most likely is an issue with the door warp IDs being assigned incorrectly, and this is also the case for some other warps that lead you to beta Castle Grounds.

There’s a tragic yet poetic parallel that this rom hack, made to emulate the stories of a development plagued by the issues of implementing an AI, ended up being a troubled development itself, plaguing Chris and sapping motivation, it’s sad: yet unfortunately poetic

Well that's good news. I look forward to seeing future versions from the team behind this. B3313 definitely has potential of being an amazing fangame though I think some semblance of direction can help in future updates to help track down Stars the player didn't collect yet. The dang game's a labyrinth.
finally a review of the rom hack that talks about the hopeless feeling of being in an infinite, distorted mario world instead of clickbait "omg spooky mario!!!" content, this video deserves more than just 1k views
This hack is less like a horror game and more like a big dream. Like, I swear ive seen some of those corridors in one of my dreams and ive had dreams where there's a never ending building to explore. And I've never really had a straight nightmare, Just dreams that sometimes get spooky, a lot like this game.
I hope that the development moving forward won't be as rocky as what I've heard about regarding the release of this abandoned build. My favorite part of B3313 has always been exploring the castle and finding every little hidden room and secret. Even the cheesy jumpscares referencing other romhacks, or rooms based on unfiction series based on Mario 64's beta, something like Greenio's videos. They're all so fun to just discover. EDIT: before anyone asks i don't really wanna divulge what i heard since it's just. that. what I heard. no real way to verify it and i'd rather not spread around something potentially false
I hate horror games, they are boring as heck and almost never get interesting to me. But for some reason, this hack hooked me from the beginning. Just the immense amount of ideas, the huge list of corridors and rooms and the sheer endless possibilities were absolutley fascinating to me. I havent even gotten around to play this hack yet but something of it is just so interesting to me. Its just taking this game, taking familiar aspects of it, changing them, adding new things giving you a sense of finally escaping but then it strikes back and you find yourself in yet another corridor, that you believe to know but just as you walk around you see that you dont know it. You havent been here before. And once you enter that level over there, you might never even see it again. This is just great. Everything is so well thought out about this. Great video as always - hope to see more of the hack once the new version comes out (because it will!)
This would probably throw out some of the mood from the video but B3313 is getting finished and it might even get several patches after 1.0 such as console comparability
The game has been officially discontinued. The version claiming to be the 1.0 "unabandoned" version is a bootleg by content thieves. 0.9 is the last official version.

Although, they did not ask the permission to use the things people made for the game, aka contributors (Such as courses, music, etc), so it's still kinda shady. I hear people saying "But the hack already uses leaked assets from Gigaleak and such, who cares?" And tbh, I don't know what to think of this. I mean, Chris and his remaining team members pretty much decided to use the engine that Benedani made for the original B3313 for their version of the 1.0 (Which is now cancelled, unless Chris changes his mind once again) without his permission so there's that. I guess at the end of the day both parties won't give a shit if their assets get used without permissions and such since this drama already drained them soo much.

He said that he didn't encounter any issues whatsoever (Aside from the intentional ones like textures being messed up rarely, songs chainging instruments, etc.). 2. No idea why he reacted negatively to that, but still, Roman leaking old and development builds because he "deserves it" is pretty unproffesional and stupid so he's still not a good guy there. Overall, after reading all the documents regarding the drama (from both parties) I concluded that neither of them are the winners and right in this drama, both did some bad stuff to eachother and overall it's a mess, so there's my opinion about that.
