I just made a cat collar tonight for my big beautiful Boy cat who has been losing them a lot lately! (The last two were Japanese kimono silk with a bell at $15.00 each!!gasp!). So tonight I cut a piece of non coated paper and folded it to three and wrote my phone and address. Then I taped it at the fold only, not the entire collar for safety as you want it to break away in emergency. No cost to me and I feel better letting him out to roam.😊
My cat's current collar is made with a small elastic band on one side of the clip thzt is supposed to let her pull her head out of it if she gets stuck

You shouldn't put a jingle bell on the collar because your cat will get crazy trying to find where that sound comes from without realizing it comes from its collar
I find Púca was never bothered by there being a bell on his collar. It's also very helpful for knowing where he is in the dark as he is a completely black cat and can be hard to see. It's completely dependant on your own cat, mine have always been completely fine with bells :)

i dont mean to be rude or anything but the whole point of diy is to Do It Yourself. i reason i camr is because i was looking for an easy was to make a collar. i mean, you have a perfectly good collar there why take apart to make a new one

If you would like to leave out the fastenings all together I would suggest using a piece of flat elastic to join the two ends so that your cat can still wriggle away in the event that they become trapped. Maybe I'll do another video without the fastenings if it's something people would like :)
You may want to stick some laser foil or laser tape that you can get at a dollar store on your cat or dog collars because laser foil or laser tape SHINES IN THE DARK when a car's headlights shine on it.

His eyes have started to turn an orange colour around the outside now so I've no idea what he could be but I'll definitely look into that breed so I can see the resemblance :)
Please don't put collars on a cat ever. Collars kill cats every year. The collar gets stuck on something and the poor cat ends up choking and dying. Please be aware and don't put collars on your furbaby. Do your research on the dangers of cat collars.

Why making a collar when you can get on amazon 3-sets for only 8-9 bucks? I recommend bemix pets cat collars... they're also reflective.
I just find it's a fun way to personalize your pets collar, especially when their old ones get grubby looking :)
