What is robbing? I am not familiar with that word being used in a beekeeping context.

Robbing is a type of foraging by which honeybees will steal resources from another hive. it is technically known in beekeeping parlance as opportunistic foraging (meaning whatever the richest resources are with the most benefits will be sought out). When resources are scarce in nature, the bounty of stealing from another hive provides a greater reward over aimless foraging.
