Massive respect for this young lady. My daughter also ran it and said the hills were brutal (2000 feet of climbing!). She didn’t train that much for this particular race, but still managed to beat her time needed to qualify for Boston by 9 minutes. Very proud of her!
Sitting here watching this, runners making it look so easy when it's not, it takes a special human to accomplish this. Congrats to you and all who did it.
Let’s not forget the guy that started it all, after he finished to deliver a message, he dropped dead. I’ve only done one in 1983 and never again. Bike riding 200 is much easier.
Hey thanks for commenting! I can finally congratulate you for the win. 🎉. Sad I didn’t get you crossing the finish line. I was a little concerned about posting this video without asking you and would have removed it if you had any issues with it. I had originally planned to video the 2nd place female (like I did last year) but they were so short of marshals that they radioed me as I entered the Presidio to marshal the first female. I’m glad and happy you like the video and that you contacted me. It’s my most thumbs up video with 5k views already. My one question is: what did they give you for coming in first?
@@chidonchea happy you got to marshal me :) I got into the VIP lounge for brunch and I was promised some sponsor award by mail but haven’t received it yet.
I just ran a half marathon and I am training for a marathon right now. Seeing how fast this woman is running is mind blowing and she's relaxed and smiling the whole time very inspirational excellent job👏👏👏👏👏👏🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊
This is so impressive. Her name is Leandra Zimmerman from San Francisco. Not only did she win by 10 minutes. She came in 13th overall. Her average speed was a breathless 9 mph.
The pain cave was real as she initially approached the bridge from the presidio (if it is still called that, have not been back since 81), she had a great rythm on the way back. Fantastic running and great footage. Thanks for posting.
So cool! You know her as the winner, and I know her as Leandra - the fast girl in my club who will lap me in workouts. Wow - well deserved! She looks so relaxed the whole way through!
@@CatherineSui-Millerthanks, next time I will ask the runner I videotaped to toss some snacks over the barricade to me😂. (I actually saw a finisher doing that) I did get to sample a bottle of Pocari Sweat in the plaza, I remember seeing it in Japan
Wow awesome!!! I did this race too (my first marathon in SF) but not as fast as she is... 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻wish someday would be as great runner like her too.. but still proud of my finished time
Excellent job with the marshalling on an excellent runner! Is this a typical SF marathon though? It's so "empty" in terms of crowds - everybody left the city?
No big prize money to draw in top elite runners for this event, so less people show up to watch. Most people were closer to the finish area. There are still big crowds for the Chinese new year parade
Not at all. They were short of marshals. This was my second time volunteering. Not as organized as last year. Not much training or pre riding the route. I contacted them the Tuesday before. It would help if you really knew the route and able to ride 10 mph up short hills, and have a well maintained bike 0:02 if you were assigned the lead runner.
@@ellenclary28 or wider tires would work well with the gravel sections. Flat pedals are good in case you need to walk. A marshal crashed last year on the train tracks

Thanks for the great video and the wonderful bike marshaling! Really fun to run besides you! I didn’t think I could win - the smile made it easier 😉

You were amazing. I love it when you ran past the speed camera at 9mph. I have to be on a bike to reach that speed.

With one week to go, watching you smile almost the entire way just got me so Hyped for next week's race. Congratulations; you are a Beast!

This was a great video. It was very motivating to see such a great marathon. The female runner was superb, smiling all the way. Great job!😊

Her smile says it all!!!! A very well organized race!!! Thank You 😊
Agree. They never run out of water and electrolytes. Post race goodies were plenty. Expensive registration but you can what you pay for ✌
@@CatherineSui-Miller curious, what besides bananas and water were they giving away? I didn’t have access there

What a beast! She absolutely destroyed that course! Such an awesome scenery to run! Hoping one day I can run it!
Excellent video. By the time I got to Mile 23 it was quite warm and sunny.
Honestly im more impressed with the fact that most times she threw cup into trash cans or at least attempted too. Most runners just drop em anywhere
Great job Stan.
Scenery and lighting are superb ! She must have been happy to be in your care . Many good smiles came your way!
Nice video thanks for sharing

Man love the smile !
Awesome job Stan! Looks like weather was great for the marathon this year. 👍
No usual fog this morning
Great video. Excellent job helping out; those streets were pretty deserted at points people could easily wonder onto the route and wreck her race.
Luckily I had a whistle on me. Needed to use it mainly after GGP
BADASS
She smiles all the way.
I'd love to be a bike marshall, was it hard to arrange?

She’s not Kenyan or anything 😅
She’s impressive.
But if she were Kenyan, she’d be done before 2:20.
