- Short Splice description:
In this detailed video tutorial, we show you easy step by step instructions for splicing two pieces of 3 stranded rope together using a short splice.
A short splice is used to permanently join two lines together when the join is not required to move through a block. It can be used in place of a knot to join two ropes or the ends of the same rope together.
You will commonly use a short splice in a line that has been cut, or frayed or an unsafe portion needs to be cut out.
Please note that If two ropes are being joined with a short splice, they should be the same type of rope and have the same diameter.

Thanks for the video. I followed the instructions and also tried to taper towards the last 2 splices. I used nylon rope which I think you have too? I didn't want to seal the ends because I'm trying to make a soft dogs collar. I put small 6 turn wippings on the centre and at the 3rd splice positions, but unfortunately the ends are unravelling. As fast as I cut off the stragglers, more arrive. Is there any way to prevent soft nylon rope from slowly unravelling the splice, without making hard spots by sealing the ends? Thanks
I
I've left tails long...melted long, and thin... kinda icicle shape
Then feed into center of rope and bury them....best I found.....
I don't like the char look on certain applications...such as yours..
