I ran in Pumas in college in 1977. They were yellow and black. They were pimp. Haven't owned a pair since then. Been a loyal Hoka Clifton user the past three years, but might have to revisit Puma.
Great review! My initial experience with V1 was similar to your comments on V2. I’ve since done 550 km and I’m now a dedicated fan so my suggestion is to invest a few more kilometres (miles) into them before making a final judgement. I’m looking forward to trying out V2 but V1 is still going strong so I might have to wait for V3.
Your experience with this shoe is similar to mine with the Hoka Mach 4. Everyone fell in in love with it, I tried it on, and I was like, "Meh?" I wasn't feeling any wow.
I was the exact same way….until I hit about 20-25 miles in them and then they came alive. The foam softened up a lot but the grip of that outsole is the magic (to me at least).
I have V1. Got mine on super sale for $65!!! Love the Puma grip, great for light trails too. The rest of your experience with V2 mirrors my impressions of V1 except no heal slippage. True, this is no Novoblast 2 or Max Road 5 but I just like it, at least for 12 miles on down. In other news, LAM 2022 draws nigh. I did my longest run ever, 18 miles yesterday. Woohoo! (My legs, however, are not going woohoo. Haha!) Mr. T was asked in Rocky 2 what his prediction for the fight was. He looked into the camera and said, "PAIN!!!"
My experience with the supercritical foam especially Sketchers is you need to break them in some. As the nitrogen gas bubbles break down a little bit, the midsole softens up and also becomes more responsive. All the supercritical foam shoes I've ran in so far are not too firm and not too soft. Their in the middle and that's the way I like it. My only gripe about the Puma Volocity 1 is it could be more flexible especially in the forefoot since it doesn't have much of a rocker. Now if a rocker exists, with my biomechanics I can only benefit with a late stage rocker.
I picked up the eternity nitro as they have a slight guide rail and I love them the there is no wear on the puma grip rubber and the foam itself is amazing it is my go to easy day shoe and can easily take it up to faster paces, deffo going for the deviate next.
Can’t wait to try these. Currently 300miles into the V1s and they are just perfect. Replaced the Peg as a daily trainer for me. Also I picked them up for £36! Bargain. You will love the deviate they are big energy!
Hi Emily. Very excited to take delivery of my pair of velocity nitro 2 last week after many miles in version 1 last year but…. really from the first few steps my excitement began to wane. After 2 runs of about 3 miles each I’ve cleaned them and returned them to the supplier. Firstly I found the midsole much softer than version 1 ,uncomfortably softer for me and after both runs I had underfoot pain ( ache) for several hours in both feet and I found the new upper material thick and constricted and in our current warm spell in the uk hot and very non breathable which doesn’t bode well for the upcoming summer months. So all in all aside from how good the shoe looks I’m sad to say a step backwards for me at least for version ? ☹️ Never mind Reebok energy float ride 4 arriving later this week 😊 Thanks again for you outstanding research. Ian 🇬🇧
Agreed with you that the cushion is lacking, and was expecting slightly better cushioning with the fancy nitro midsole as well. What alternatives would you suggest for shoes with better cushion and bounce in the same price range?
Hey Emily! Just a comment regarding my experience with this shoe......This is my favorite daily shoe!! In my opinion it ranks very slightly ahead of the adidas adios 7 and more ahead of the asics gel nimbus 23 and Brooks Ghost 14. I have not found any New Balance, Saucony, Hoka, or Nike shoe that comes close for my requirements.
10:06 -- " It depends what your preferences are and what you prefer under your foot" Studies show: Runners exhibited a biased perception of footwear comfort when presented with different shoe description and price information. Even when the shoe didn't affect their biomechanics.
I think the idea is the super soft nitrogen foam provides a soft initial impact while the firmer EVA keeps it from being unstable or too soft and unresponsive on the toe off.
I have the V1 and like it. Nothing hugely special but decent daily trainer - I prefer it to a Hoka Clifton or Nike Pegasus. You can often get them much cheaper than the retail price in the UK too which makes them a bargain
How are you my friend, I am a man who wants to practice walking and simple running, but my focus is on walking and I want to choose a shoe suitable for walking and everything and I prefer it from the latest shoes 2022, so what do you advise me to choose, knowing that I am 41 and obese
Great video as always! Velocity 2s are a pair I’m considering once my Reebok Symmetros finally die. A bit of a bummer to hear that the velocity was not as lively for you under foot. The liberate nitros were very fun to run in for me.
The lack of a rocker really killed the V1 for me. Just wasn't fun to run it, and no "wow" at all. This V2 looks the same. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the application of the Nitro and Foam on the Magnify.
I'll be reviewing this shoe on my channel too, and I'm quite excited to see how it feels underfoot. I'm hoping that it'll be a good run-in-it-how-you-want daily trainer. Seems to have potential so we'll see. Great review and keep up the great content!!!
Nitro foam have different densities, so like this would be more in that Pegasus 35-36 feel. At least that what I thought. Love the channel big fan, hope your doing well.
I found it was good for my first run of the day, but would go for a more cushioned ride if I was doubling. Like the Nike Invincible Run. Also I personally wouldn’t take to 10 miles or above
interesting. This is the only 'bad' review of these shoes that I found on youtube. All other reviewers were impressed by it and had pretty much nothing bad to say about this shoe, which can't be said for any other daily runner shoe I've looked into. The only issue I came across when watching and reading reviews is that a few people said it runs a bit long. Or maybe the women's version is a bit different. I just ordered a pair so we shall see, downsized half size.
First of all, it’s heel (heal =as in to recover from injury or illness). Secondly, there is nothing inherently right or wrong with various foot strikes as long as it’s not causing injury and most importantly, as long as you land under your center of gravity. This obsession with extreme forefoot strike (I see runners running on their tiptoes) is probably causing more injury than it prevents-it is not a natural stride to land on your toes unless you run at elite paces or are a sprinter. It’s a recipe for shinsplints in the average runner. Even the pros heel strike when they’re tired, and 99% of all runners touch down at least transiently on the lateral rear corner of their foot even before a full midfoot landing. My coach’s wife has worked for several of the big running brands as a consultant and she is my source for this information. It is possible to tweak one’s stride if necessary (causing injury or holding one back on potential) but it should be done with a view of overall body posture. Artificially forcing it from the foot and leg up is a bad idea.
Ruby is a great RUclips assistant. How does the midsole of the Puma compare to the Peg 38 (if you’ve run in it)? Puma grip is a wonderful thing. The Liberate Nitro are brilliant for fast laps on my local grass track. Just glued to the ground.
I'm going to tell you....(Ruby video bombs)..... Emily deep sighs.....I'm going to tell you....😆😆😆 You couldn't script that. Oh and the review was good too! 🤭
I actually saw an adolescent mt lion (same thing) here in the CO mountains and have never seen Pumas in any running store, so the shoes are rarer than their namesake!
A welcome dose of honesty! Thanks Emily!

so I got the V2 and have taken it out for 2 runs and it runs much better than V1. Traction is great and I really like it
@@karls8989 I had trouble with heel slip, and found the upper to be too warm for my liking with the V1. Is there much of an improvement with the v2?
i have same experience with endorphin speed. everyone praising how great it is so i bought it and it was a disappointment.
Ruby is amazing!
Emily exists in Ruby's world 😊
This is very true
Can you review more Puma shoes? Would love to get your thoughts on the Deviate Nitro Elite 3 and Magmax Nitro.

I'm holding out for the Elite! The Liberate Nitro is a blast though.
I have a pair of these as casual / rest shoes, too hot to run in. Amazing recovery / rest day shoe...
If the heel is slipping, those last holes are for tying heel locks.
So nice video and thanks all your advice about this show help me a lot
Thanks for watching!
The nitro infused foams tend to brick out in cold temperatures
EVA foams in general tend to!
Interesting that they have separate layers of EVA and Nitrogen infused foam. That seems like a missed opportunity.
I think the idea is the super soft nitrogen foam provides a soft initial impact while the firmer EVA keeps it from being unstable or too soft and unresponsive on the toe off.

Depends what you like but maybe Hoka Bondi 7, Nike invincible, New Balance more v3, or Saucony triumph.
cant wait for these to appear in Europe!! love the v1 and the deviate and the liberate lol..... ive been bitten by the cat!!

Is this shoe similar in performance to a Brooks Ghost?
Somewhat. Has more interesting foam but not really enough of it. I’d say Ghost has a more structured upper
@@RunLikeHeller Thank you.
just bought these on sale for £50. same sale price as ride 15. great bargains

I ran in a Puma shoe when I ran my one and only full marathon 1/16/99.

Midfoot to heel yeah. Depends on shoe

I don't get it, people say this shoe is soft. I can't feel any cushioning on the forefoot, only a bit on the heel, biggest disappointment of the year
Same. I feel like too many reviewers are misleading. I appreciate this channel doesn't do that.
