Bonjour my lovelies, thank you so much for watching and commenting this video. I hope you will love it and share it with your girls xxx have a great weekend kisses 😘
I love this! Thank you! I only started wearing make up and jewelry when I was about 24-30 years old. I took ballet and my parents and grandparents taught me to be modest and polite. I am kind of a tom boy and it's a learning process being more confident in my femininity.
Something that struck me was that none of these points were oppressive at all, as compared to the other videos about being more ladylike or classy. All of them were rooted in self confidence, politeness, maturity, and moderation, all of which are great attributes to possess as a human being. Wonderful video thank you!
My mother raised me exactly this way and to me it is all part of "being a lady", which does not have to do with being rich, but having manners and class.
Yes! True European style. Even as a child I wasn't allowed to leave the house in sweatpants, nor put my elbows on the table :) so many points that resonate. Love your natural and classy style!
100% agree about keeping your house neat enough to be able to gladly welcome unexpected company. Even when living alone, enjoying the ambience of one's castle is important, and that's impossible if it's a mess/dirty.
I love everything about this video! Very few influencers say what needs to be said, no matter what! As a society, we are lacking in class and manners! Merci! ❤️
My husband laughs at me, I get dressed to go to Walmart’! Not church dressed, but a top and jeans or a skirt, he thinks because there are so many there that look horrible! I refused to go in my pajamas! 😝
I have never subscribed to a channel in my life! I am French-Canadian and 54 and love your videos. After a series of traumatic events I basically let myself go. It’s only recently, after shedding some of my bad habits, and watching your channel that I started feeling encouraged to bring my best self forward. Thank you!
Love this! Not only French, but good manners, period. Thanks for the reminders. Over-exposure is not attractive. A woman should have some mystery and leave something to the imagination.
Agree with all of this! My parents always taught me to look neat and clean when going out to do anything because, “you never know who you might meet and you don’t want to be looking crazy!” 😂
I always go by what my Nan says. Unless it’s an emergency (as in you are actually in or on the way to hospital) no need to look like you’ve just woken up and been dragged out the house 😂
I recently ran into family members who I am estranged from (YAY!) and I was ever so grateful to be looking well put together even though it was just the supermarket. The woman in question appeared to be in gardening clothes and had hair with 2 inches of grey roots. You just never know what will happen when you set foot outside your door.
So apparently I have been doing things right the whole time, but the society and social media keeps shaming me for being modest, not wearing heels, not wearing makeup, not having my boobs out all the time, knowing how to dress for the environment, knowing how to act, speaking silently... Thank you for saying these things!
Love this video. Natural is the way to go, in my opinion. At 82 that has been my mantra for years. I’m not French, but I have always felt that less is more and it has served me well! The great thing. though, is that we have to do what makes us happy. ❤️
Excellent video, I'm Scottish but live in France. I love the way your videos are so deep, with a great philosophy; it's not just about looking good, which is great in itself, but also about having a good attitude & treating people well, these things are so important, bravo, Frédérique!
I'm a brit in france, and love watching these videos... it makes me think about the cultural difference and understand the world my kids are growing up in.
I took notes on this one! Specifically, I need to watch my posture, speak softer, declutter my storage room (I do not even use it all enough!), and watch the loungewear outside of my house!
Great points that should be taught to children so they can grow up with confidence and taste. I think I would add saying, "I'm sorry" when you know you have made a mistake and not make excuses for those mistakes. Mistakes happen because we are human. A sincere apology goes a long way to sealing a good friendship than excusing oneself. Thanks again for your good opinions.
I'd add something, Katherine: apologizing often for the same mistake (aka saying-sorry-fixes-it-all) is as irritating as never apologizing (aka it's-not(never)-my-fault). 😉
My mother was raised in rural Mississippi, but she taught me all of what you said! All the way down to the lounge wear! At the time it wasn’t that fun learning as a child; but I have always thanked as adult. While I may slip at times (many) when I have to I can be a lady!
Yes!!! My Irish Grandmother always said everything on your list at one time or another to me when growing up. Famous quote “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” Also so many times I’ve been asked why my husband and I never had children. People do not realize how hurtful of a question that is. It got to the point where enough was enough and I started to say it was none of their business, invasive and rude.
As an American, (as in USA) this is so refreshing. Pretty much sooooo many women here violate these basic etiquette principles when dressing and behaving. THANK YOU!!!!
Finally, a lady who is not afraid to give her opinion, and you say it beautifully! You speak what should be good, common sense - but it has become uncommon, and needs to be reiterated. Merci beaucoup 🙏🌺
“When you start looking like a Christmas tree” you really made me laugh with that one! Frederique! I love your videos! You are a classy lady. That is key. No matter our nationality or ethnicity, we should never lose our manners and class.
I love this video! I sent it to my 2 daughters: 28 and 26. I have tried to be a good example and train them when they lived with me. Sometimes, we need to hear things from someone else :) Take care!
Omg! I am Hispanic, but I completely agree with all of these tips. My mother always scolded me if I talked or laughed too loud! She says it’s not classy ❤️
Love your tips, all timeless. Our modern culture pushes rudeness, sleaziness, self centered individualism, looking ugly and thinking it’s is cool. Thank you, you are doing a service to women. P.s. every notice men always look put together, modest, clean and groomed?, a general statement of course, but they don’t go to extremes for the most part.
Haha ... about the push-up and full bosom we say in Germany: There is a lot of wood in front of the hut. Another good video, you really have a very good mix of different topics. thanks
I have a naturally large Bust I couldn’t imagine trying to draw attention to it. I’m always trying to minimize the look of them if not, they will look vulgar.
I will translate everything you said in just one word and I don’t care if people don’t like it. I’m not here to please everyone. The word is “cheap”. Maybe being cheap is the trend, but the fact that something is trendy doesn’t mean it must be followed. Totally with you. French are different and vive la différence!
@@JacqueRescues , yeah, hahahahah! I used to have a button with these words; however, I was still studying English back then, and hadn't realized the meaning of the sentence (I took "cheap" literally 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣).
I'm only doing three things wrong, yay! One posture - I do slouch, two - speak loudly but I'm Italian with lots of emotion/passion (this will be a work in progress), three - too much stuff in my house - working on decluttering! All good pieces of advice! C'est bon!
OMG I never heard of that expression before "Too many people on the Balcony"! But I love it! There are times to show off your "Assets" and there are times to just let your inner light shine. Much love from Canada, Madamme.
Long nails & sky-high heels are properly positioned as your first 2! I was laughing throughout your fantastic video. You verbalized my thoughts when I see these things. Thank you for the great advice and tips. Love you channel!
I am with you on the leisure wear being only for home. Being a French Canadian I was raised this way as well. I live in the U.S now and I love to listen to you - it reminds me of home. ❤
Seriously??? Since when French Canadian women let the other people talk without interrupt, or mock the other person when this have a different accent?? Or take a shower every day and look clean, or eat with the mouth close, or talk without food inside the mouth. Or don't talk very loud in public places.
Spot on! It has nothing to do with being a snob. All about manners! I was raised in The South... manners are in (most of)our blood. Respecting others and yourself. Kindness is true beauty.
Hello lovely! I stumbled on an American youtuber recently, and OMG. She wore cheap distressed jeans (close to the butt), was wearing a pair of high heels normally reserved for exotic dancers, bright makeup, and a $1000 blazer. She was teaching women on how to elevate an outfit and look classy 😳😳. Manners, confidence, attitude, and being kind to others are as important as good looks, I love this video Frédérique!
I am American. I live in the U.K. Just got back from the US. The big thing was to wear ripped jeans...but ripped jeans in the front leg area like they were mauled by a bear. It was like: what was the point? Also crocs. And short shorts or sports sorts under long t-shirts. Like we did in the 80s? I’m now in my early 50s. Lol
I don't think this is necessarily the French way, it's just the 'classical', 'polite society' way. I don't live my life the 'elegant way' to put it mildly, but I've found, that knowing these etiquette points is very helpful in situations, where it calls for. It does really stem from upbringing, but not a lot of people have that, so it's great to see some basic points laid out so nicely!
This video is refreshing. This is exactly how I was raised your the way you expressed these points are the way my grandmother always spoke to me when she was teaching me as a child
I am so happy to have found you on RUclips Frederique, I am enjoying all your comments about being classy and speaking with your French accent is a delight. Merci!!
It's all about self respect! If you don't respect yourself how do you expect from others to respect you?Words of wisdom Frederique! Thanks for this video!Love from Greece!
Great advice! I so agree with you especially about the long nails. I always think when I see nails like that..” I hope she doesn’t wear contact lenses”!
Thank you for the elegant tips for the ladies. I once witnessed a certain faux pas when a TV host interrupted her guest in the middle of her recipe story. I was shocked - as if the guest never spoke and were never there! I stopped watching her show after that.
Such great advice!! I loved this! I definitely agree with you on all of the above! American girl here and I would only add 1 thing this goes along with the don't interrupt. Try to surround yourself with people who aren't constantly interrupting you. Try instead to have people that genuinely listen when it's your turn to talk. People that aren't just waiting for their turn to talk. Often times people that do that make everything about themselves. GREAT ADVICE! Can't wait to watch more of your content. Definitely subscribed!
Frédérique, thank you for the lesson on etiquette, manners and what true style really means. Please keep them coming. We have a great time with your videos on clothes,make-up, decorating, the spa and with Oscar. But we also need lessons on what it means to have class.Merci beaucoup ❤
I absolutely agree. A lot of these “don’ts) are very American. I do not understand where our class went. I respect the Parisian ways, natural beauty, modest clothing, etc. I prefer flats, more comfortable and practical.
@@vkngwmn6636 most true. I myself am, at least I like to think, more reserved and trey to be more “proper”. There’s something to be said about manners and elegance. I just respect Parisian women for their emphasis on natural beauty and being more realistic. So many American women where extremely high heels walking long distances outside and have such long nails, that hinder so much ability, and wear globs of makeup. If they enjoy that, who am I to judge? I, for myself, would rather wear flats to not hurt my body and emphasize my natural beauty by taking great care of my skin, hair, and nails, and eating healthy foods. I do see that the “creating” beauty is less popular in America now, and women are starting to veer towards natural beauty, I’m happy to see it. We should all feel good about ourselves without feeling like we have to “hide” our natural selves.
I agree push- up bras are cheap looking. Plus; push-up actually make a less feminine silhouette. The way a push-up bra is constructed, is to push from the side as well as from below, resulting in a pear-shape as compared with an hourglass shape.
I was lucky to be brought up with china, silver and crystal for big family dinners. Along with that, our table manners had to measure up. My mother always taught us good table manners. Sometimes I think it's a dying art! Thanks for this video on keeping it classy, Frederique.
Thank you, great advice! I try to live by these rules here in Scandinavia! I am a teacher and I always try and look presentable in a feminine way+use my signature perfume on in every class - I see the younger teachers in their 20s sometimes teach in sweat pants and hoodies and no make-up! I would rather get up early and make sure I am well-groomed. Anyway, I love your blouse - absolutely gorgeous!
All the points you mentioned are what my mother and father taught me as a child. It's not a matter of being old fashioned. Rather, it's simply being neat and aware of yourself, and how you're viewed by others.
I know I'm "late to the party" on this video, but laughed so hard at the "a lot of people on the balcony" comment! You never fail to entertain Frederique. Many good reminders on this one. Merci. :)
Good manners and and modesty are always in style. As an American Southern woman, we ladies take great pride in our breeding. But it doesn't mean we can't give you a little stab in the back if you cross us. We just do it with taste. I have always been a messy person and have struggled with it for years. When someone comes into my messy house I always say that my mama did NOT raise me this way. She was very neat and she taught me to be neat. It is a matter of being a bad reflection on my parents. I have a friend who always talks. He thinks I should listen all the time. When I try to react, not interrupting him while he is talking, he shushes me and tries to stop me from talking. That is my pet peeve. A conversation is two ways.
From now on you are my favorite vlogger! I found your channel yesterday. Amazing delivered speech , charisma, intelligence , kind heart and positivity in one person. :)
I have always had a problem with speaking among friends in groups. I am always courteous and wait for the other person to stop speaking before I speak but then I never get a chance to speak because others in the group interrupt the speaker and I’m always left waiting my turn and don’t get to say much. I’ve often wondered if I need to interrupt as well in order to say anything at all LOL
That was brilliant I can hear my mother’s voice so clearly. We were taken for a walk on Sundays and she corrected our gate throughout the walk. You are a very wise lady and so much fun you lift our heart’s
It’s so wonderful that you shared these things! 💕 I can imagine my grandmother saying these same things. People were generally more classy when I was growing up on the west coast of the United States. My grandmother always dressed up to go out of the house, even if it was only to the grocery store.
My favorite ever. Every mother, grandmother, aunt I have ever had or known told me these things. Being religious they said " dont show ANY skin" and it has stood me in good stead. Youd be surprised how chic a woman can be who shows only her face and her hands 😏
I rather like showing some leg, arm or a shoulder, not my midriff as I’m not a teenager but kudos to you. I have total respect for Muslim types that feel they need to hide their body, but it does tickle me that you say “religious” then you want to hide the body ‘god gave you’. I’m not sure I’d call the totally covered look “chic” but you do you (or you do your grandmothers and aunt)
@@JulieWallis1963 LOL. Firstly I'm not Muslim. also, I do like my body. Additionally, when I say ANY skin, I guess I'm exaggerating just a LITTLE. but you can like the body G-d gave you without exposing it to everybody. In the same way, I imagine you like your midriff. As for being modest and chic- why not?
@@tamarfischer283 I see it as not covering in fear, but draping in elegance . I try to look elegant , but still show some skin, as I live in Florida . But I still feel very respected .... why? In my mind I believe I’m respected - so perhaps the inner world reflects to the outer world . For me I realized it is less about fashion , and more how I interact . And I personally feel the sexiest thing a woman can do, is not flirt .... Hahah - if that makes sense
I have watched several of your videos and it seems that my parents have raised me as a French woman with the same attitude towards healthy eating, exercising, enjoying glass of wine, table etiquette, classy outfit. I even use perfume exactly as you said it should be used properly. I've never been to France, but watching these videos seems that will be my next destination. Love French culture so much. Greetings from Latvia!
So true, having pride and respect for yourself and others, understanding boundaries. I find that things are so confusing for younger people today -social media plays a part in both a negative and positive way.
I must be French then, I don't do any of those things you've talked about! LOL. But seriously, My parents taught me well. Thanks for another great video!
Irina Longley. Good comment. From the looks of your beautiful face, you probably grew up in the 70's and 80's too, when our parents raised us up more conservatively, and women didn't show too much of their legs. I have to admit though, as pretty as you are, I would like to see those beautiful legs.
Hi Frederique, This is one of your best videos! I am glad we are on the same page 😘Sometimes I think this is the century of “to much, to loud, to fake. By the way manners never go out of style!

"There's alot of people on the balcony." Hahahahaha! Oh my that's a good one!
It's all about self respect! If you don't respect yourself how do you expect from others to respect you?Words of wisdom Frederique! Thanks for this video!Love from Greece!
Thank you sweetie x
we say "she has all the goods on display" no no no no, thank you for reminding us to be classy clean and confident xxx
'Too many people on the balcony' - love it! Great points, well made. Merci, madame.
you are welcome xxx
I love all these. Living in the South in the US, people ask way too many personal questions.
Great advice! I so agree with you especially about the long nails. I always think when I see nails like that..” I hope she doesn’t wear contact lenses”!
I always wonder how they wipe their💩
It is the worst when they have young children and babies! Maybe someone else does the nappies!
This is the first video that I watch, it took me 3 minutes to subscribe, this woman is adorable and I appreciate her honesty.
Thank you so much my darling x
Agree 100 % with all you said 👍😘 love your videos 💐
Thank You So Much! This is how I was raised! My Mother was half French & had Beautiful Manners & very Ladylike! ❤️
Watching your videos make me so happy. Feel like I’m getting great advice from a wise and loving sister!
Now this video was so classy!! Wonderful principles to live by and I do. Thanks for the reminders.
Thank you for the elegant tips for the ladies. I once witnessed a certain faux pas when a TV host interrupted her guest in the middle of her recipe story. I was shocked - as if the guest never spoke and were never there! I stopped watching her show after that.
Excellent video. Thank you Frédérique!
this should be titled how to avoid being trashy! More ladies need to hear this!
Thanks for edifying the word classy. Love your videos. They are helping my confidence!!!!
I absolutely agree. A lot of these “don’ts) are very American. I do not understand where our class went. I respect the Parisian ways, natural beauty, modest clothing, etc. I prefer flats, more comfortable and practical.
a shop can't display all its stock at once, neither should women display all the goods in one outfit 😉
Liberalism did this to us.
Depends on your social class in the U.S. Well raised Americans exist and aren't vulgar.
As a man who loves women, I thoroughly appreciated this video.
“A lot of people on the balcony”...hysterical! This was a lot of great advice.
Hehehe
I agree push- up bras are cheap looking.
Plus; push-up actually make a less feminine silhouette. The way a push-up bra is constructed, is to push from the side as well as from below, resulting in a pear-shape as compared with an hourglass shape.
True , push-ups look bad. A well-fitted bra, even on small breasts does a great job to accentuate the shapes, but in a nice, subtle way.
Thank you so much lovely xxx 😍
I know I'm "late to the party" on this video, but laughed so hard at the "a lot of people on the balcony" comment! You never fail to entertain Frederique. Many good reminders on this one. Merci. :)
What a sweet comment, I'm glad you like it xx
Bless their hearts, right?!
HI, Frederique. & thank you again. I so much agree with every word. Many awkward moments can be saved by simple manners and common sense
🙋🏻♀️ American woman here. I agree with everything you said. ✌🏼
Thank you for sharing! I was fortunate to have a mother who valued and taught her children manners! By the way, she had a French ancestry!
These videos are very thought provoking! Thank you! I like your approach to the topics. That purple is phenomenal!
Wonderful advice! Thanks you for reminding us all that class is not just about what you wear, but the whole person!
It’s so wonderful that you shared these things! 💕 I can imagine my grandmother saying these same things. People were generally more classy when I was growing up on the west coast of the United States. My grandmother always dressed up to go out of the house, even if it was only to the grocery store.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks so much for the refresher on proper manners. They seemed to have disappeared somehow in the world over the last few decades.
Suzanne
I love your point about push up bras, but about the nails, i was clapping. Thank you! so true.
Thank you for sharing and liking xx
I love this as everyday rules in general. Being kind and understanding goes a long way. Have fun and enjoy being your beautiful best self :)
Cheers
Frédérique! A one woman crusade to make the rest of the world _élégant!_ Impressive. I love it! 💞💞
Thank you so much lovely ☺️
My favorite ever. Every mother, grandmother, aunt I have ever had or known told me these things. Being religious they said " dont show ANY skin" and it has stood me in good stead. Youd be surprised how chic a woman can be who shows only her face and her hands 😏
I believe it
I rather like showing some leg, arm or a shoulder, not my midriff as I’m not a teenager but kudos to you.
Hahah - if
that makes sense
@@shireensaroea946 I agree. I dont even understand the concept of hiding with fear 👍
Thank you for your kind message xxx
Russian etiquette?
Vous avez tellement raison! Bravo Frédérique! J’adore vos vidéos.
So true, having pride and respect for yourself and others, understanding boundaries. I find that things are so confusing for younger people today -social media plays a part in both a negative and positive way.
Thank you sweetie x
I must be French then, I don't do any of those things you've talked about! LOL. But seriously, My parents taught me well. Thanks for another great video!
Irina Longley. Good comment. From the looks of your beautiful face, you probably grew up in the 70's and 80's too, when our parents raised us up more conservatively, and women didn't show too much of their legs. I have to admit though, as pretty as you are, I would like to see those beautiful legs.

Thank you Frederique
Hi Frederique, This is one of your best videos! I am glad we are on the same page 😘Sometimes I think this is the century of “to much, to loud, to fake. By the way manners never go out of style!
I could listen to her all day!
