Just found this (4 years after it was posted) and suddenly on my youtube thread there's a short film from Total Guitar where James Bay explains he likes to have the open G string ringing out as he does chord changes so if anyone is trying to get the sound right I hope this helps! Really enjoyed the lesson BTW :-)
Loved the video Justin! Been following you and your lessons for some time now, definitely some of the best lessons I've seen have come from you so congrats on the one! Would like to see some more Ac/Dc though ;) can't beat a bit of rock and roll! Cheers

Some of this sounds like 'Charlie Boy' by the lumineers. Hey Justin what happened to the live stream the other day, technical difficulties? Hope you do another one, would love to hear some more of your stuff. I checked out 'small town eyes' the other day and it blew me away, so so enjoyable to listen to and there's so much variation from track to track. Keep the good work.
ASMRWhisperLight. Live stream kept dropping so I canned it. Planned on doing more on the weekend but I had a toothache on Sat and a busy Sunday... might try this week or weekend!
How do you know what chords the artist play man? How do you figure it out? Is it all by ear or do you watch him play a few time and pick it up? Great work as well man. Love seeing new videos and learning new song :)
What do you have you knobs on? Like on the guitar for treble and bass!?? How you get it to sound like that? I have same guitar but doesn’t sound like thag
I really need an answer for this question, what are these types of chords called? James Bay uses them in his song "let it go" and i really want to know what they are called!!!
i dont how to make tutorial requests so chose this video to do it can you please do a tutorial to drag race the BBC snooker theme tune lve learnt most of it from the one tutorial ive found on you tube but there is no walk through for the final solo lick plus this is brilliant tune every guitarist needs to know
....... i just tried making the e string a d and it fucking snapped my guitar string and i literally bought the guitar like not even a week ago bro i am so fucking pissed -.-
lol.. I think you were supposed to bring it down to a d not up.. When I first got mine I was tuning it a whole octave higher and I snapped my d string XD luckily some friends had extra strings.

Well that sucks about the live stream messing up and toothache is the absolute worst, hopefully things are better for you this week
The best part about the tutorials are the part where he sings at the beginning!
No, they're not, really.

Jamie Williams I use my ears and transcribe it - then do some research by watching live vids...
***** Awh Alright cool. Cheers for the response
It's worth noting that James gently drones the open G string, while playing the main riff.
Really good lesson, just wondering why if you have ever thought of doing a scar tissue- RHCP lesson?
Dylan Pulley it's a bit similar eh! :)
What do you have you knobs on? Like on the guitar for treble and bass!?? How you get it to sound like that? I have same guitar but doesn’t sound like thag
