- Hi everyone! It's been a hectic couple of weeks of prepping for phase 1 of our renovations at home and selling our home in Vegas. We're making lots of progress here and I can't wait to show you the next thing we're getting done. Phase 1 we're taking care of a lot of "cosmetic" changes and some structural but its gonna make a BIG difference once we're finished.

Keep the bed on that bigger wall - it looks beautiful in that spot. You still have a great view even though it is not directly across from you. Can't wait to see that room completed - it is going to be gorgeous!!
Yes and it’s actually better feng shui not to have your feet (your energy) pointing out a window/ glass/an open space

YES to the bed on that wall! In Feng Shui, that's called the comand position-where you can see anything/one coming through the door. The bed on the other wall creates "surprises." Love the light in that room!

The bedroom renovation is incredible. I can't wait to see what you get done in phase 2. When I first read the title of this video I thought you were selling the LA house. I forgot you had a house in Vegas. So relieved you're not selling this beauty. I love it!

Put the bed on the larger wall. It seems to flow better. You can still see the beautiful view when you turn on your side still sleeping on the bed. Also when you walk in the door, you wanna be able to see your bed on the right or the left of the room, that is good feng shui. Also known as good flow in your room.
The view is incredible. Love watching the changes.

I totally agree with opening up the bedroom. You aren’t changing them character of the home at all…just expanding into an unused room. It makes the master seem so much more open and inviting, and that view with that huge bank of windows is gorgeous. My MCM home never had wood ceilings, but I figure down the line after saving up some moolah, I may try to vault the ceilings and add in wooden ceilings to the kitchen/living/dining areas. But that’ll be super pricey so that is a project for the future.
Scheffleras are hardy, fast growing plants. I had one as tall as my two story house, growing outside at the corner of the house here in Hawaii. I think one would do well in your atrium. Edit: Arvin, your style is so good in your dress and homes. How brilliant that you created a spacious primary. I was all worried about messing with the integrity of an Eichler, but you are an artist doing a collab, and as they say, I am here for it.

Loving the changes you made with opening up the room and adding the additional sliders/ windows. I was actually wondering why you decided against putting the bed on the long wall to the left of the door- opposite of where you placed it? When you film your camera angles from there and you seem to get the largest expanse of view from there, it allows for a more intimate feeling surrounding the bed, plus it leaves that space facing the windows to be used as a perfect sitting area or dressing area making full use of the natural light. Anchored with one of your new area rugs (congrats on that sublime collaboration btw) and it would make your enlarged room look and feel like a luxurious suite. I'm certain in the end it will look fabulous- you have a great eye- but I was curious.

The bed choice is hard but for feng shui you'd want to be able to see the interior doors from the bed (commanding position) and have room on both sides so that larger wall does make more sense. I love cozy rooms but with those windows it was just begging to be opened up, it looks amazing, plus you'll have room for some actual furniture now. Glad you sold the Vegas home, fund the space you're actually living in and your day to day life.
I had the EXACT same “problem” as you in my bedroom. So initially I had the bed where your smaller wall was, overlooking the garden view. And that was great for the view except it didn’t work for the overall FEEL of the bedroom. So I changed it to the bigger wall and it is much better because it looks like a proper bedroom, exactly to scale, it feels good and I still enjoy the view but it’s from a different angle. And remember, you can’t see the view during the night so you need the room to fit the purpose that it’s designed for - sleeping.

I’m so glad y’all decided to live in the new home while you renovate. It’s almost like the giving birth process and going from deciding to have a child, then the pregnancy, then the actual birth. Your home is your “child” in a sense. You begin with planning and go through each stage and you’re right there to see it become a reality and a blessing! I’m so thrilled for you guys!

You're so delightful & funny. Try floating the bed 'away' from the wall (opposite your windows/doors) so you can have all the nightstand space needed. 👌🏾🌟

Arvin - Why not wall up the door to the bedroom (on the short wall) and use the other door as the entrance to the bedroom? Then you can use the bed on the “not so long, now large” wall facing that beautiful scenery? Oh, and how perfect it would be to add a remote to open up/close the draperies to see that relaxing view when you both wake up in the morning? What a great way to start the day!
Float the bed in the middle of the floor, of course with the view facing the bed! When you put the headboard against the wall you limit what you can buy or do.
Oh, I’m now at 9 minutes in and I see you did close off that door! GREAT! Seeing the bed on the larger wall shows me that wall is the way to go. Your design will look fabulous!

The bed makes sense where it is now and that's where I would place it too. If not there, then the opposite wall, but not on the short wall. There's not enough space.

Looks great your bed looks great on the big wall the master should look grand and it does on that wall. I felt the small wall it would have looked like you were trying to squeeze it in a small wall LOOKS GREAT!!!!!!!

You should center the bed dead in the middle of the room facing the doors. With a console behind the head with all plants

Yes! I love where you placed the bed. You still have the view, but you could also turn over to the other side on those days you want to sleep in and don’t want the light directly in your eyes. It’s perfect. Good feel too when you walk into the room, makes an impact to see a beautiful bed vignette as soon as you walk in.
All the work is good too. My focus was on you and not the stuff. But someone commented about the Schifflera. My God you cannot kill those suckers. They’re incredible. They are like the good people that you meet in your life along the way. You try to kill them sometimes but they just stick with you and they love you.
Love watching all the updates on your dream home! A few tips - before changing the floors, I recommend painting any walls you want to paint first. It is so much easier/cheaper as they do not have cover all the floors. Also love the placement of the bed! There is a whole feng shui to the placement of where a bed should go and I think you nailed it! Can't wait to see more!

There is a third solution for the bed...since the volumes are so big, you can also leave it in the center of the room facing the window.
Definitely put the bed on the larger wall. The scale in the room will be better.

Bed on the long wall is definitely the right choice. Putting it on the short wall not only looks weird but also is bad fengshui - you should be able to see the entrance from the bed.
Looking at your new bedroom configuration, we’re wondering if the room was originally the size it is now and divided by a previous owner? We’re SO enjoying this journey with you!

All the renovations and future projects have you checked into putting a small RV in your driveway or back yard instead of renting
Love the open bedroom space! One of your future projects think about replacing the sliders to the bypass that disappears in a small wall the size of one slider but thick as you need EASY to add later if you do a screen Lanai or screen a pool
We did that off our Living room and Primary bedroom when we built our new home here in central Florida to bring the outside 🌴 inside

Just catching up on this vid - don’t know how I missed it. We have lived in our house through 9 months of renos - we moved 95% of our belongings out and lived with the bare basics. I won’t say it’s been easy, but it has saved us a ton of money. Our 2 sons were fed up about 3 months ago even though their bedrooms were the first completed rooms. We left our master until almost last and moved in 2 nights ago. It still needs a few finishing touches but it’s the sanctuary we dreamed of after living with the nightmare 90’s decor of the previous owners for over 5 years, while we saved and planned. I always get a bit nervous when you do one of your “what’s out” or “what not to do” posts and hope that I haven’t done anything on your list 😂

Place large piece of art with lighting above on that wall that’s been closed off!!! It looks so good. Very true that door as your first view entering the house just looks so much better without.

It’s hard because I follow Fung Shui for my bedroom and know that’s the optimal position, PLUS you may have to downsize your bedside tables on the smaller wall HOWEVER, the small wall is screaming “me, for your mental health”. ❤😂
To wake up to that view everyday would be invigorating.
The bed is on the perfect spot. You don’t want to have itty bitty night stands in such a large space. Perfect!

I'd put the bed on the wall facing the back yard so you can wake to the view.
I'd also put sheer ruched curtains on the windows. Here's a thought: if you replaced the sliding glass windows you can install ones with blinds inside the glass.

Loved the new primary room. The closed off wall was the best move. I can imagine a massive commissioned piece of 3D art there. The bed must go in the largest wall, it would feel more adequate and cohesive when you enter the bedroom, taking into consideration the size of the space and additional furniture and decor, like you said, nightstands, artwork etc. Love love!
This house is so beautiful! Not sure if this is an option for the two of you. I know someone who rented an RV and just had it parked in their driveway during renovations. They saved thousands by not having to rent a home.

Your bedroom right this minute is stunning. I can just imagine what it’s going to be like! But, get you some larger night stands and that couch at the end of your bed is making it look like too much. Move the couch over to the other side of the room. Just my opinion, and we all have one! Lol lol but you are amazing at what you do and I can’t wait to see 🥰❤️

Beautiful renovations!!! Somehow though, if the lovely view cant be viewed directly from the bed, then perhaps put the sofa, or chairs or seating of some kind, so you can just plop down and allow the lovely view to wash over you without turning your head to the side which isn't very comfortable. Though I guess you can do this in the living areas.
