- According to a new Wall Street Journal report, Trump and his allies have drafted plans to limit the Federal Reserve’s independence and align the central bank with the administration's interests if the former president wins a second term. Diane Swonk, Chief Economist at KPMG, joins Ali Velshi to discuss the significance of the President asserting more control over the Federal Reserve, how Trump could reshape the banks to suit his interests, and the importance of the Fed’s independence given the current interest rates and inflation.

as to the why, not entirely sure. I know our banks have a lot of investment in the USA.
Also the USA is the largest investor in Aus, so many of our larger companies are foreign owned, so any stress to them is felt here.
and also a big chunk of mining industry ships to USA, so again that effects us.
The USA economy is quite simply put massive, small changes there ripple out to anyone that trades with you... and that's most of the world.

The key to raising taxes is to not raise taxes on income, rather supplement it with a wealth tax. The taxpayers bailed out the banks during the Great Recession. The taxpayers paid for the Payroll Protection Plan, yet still had 10M in job losses. Now one can argue they stabilized Corporate America and the donor class and maybe it was a good thing. These two programs jumped the National Debt. A short term tax on wealth can be used to pay down the free money given to Corporations and the donor class without making it a permanent tax.
Taxing or not taxing the rich has nothing do with the economic health of the country.
The rich keep getting richer and the poorer keep getting poorer because of democrat policies. Their tax and spend policies is what is causing our economy to fail. If only solution is cutting spending. There is no other way to fix rhe debt or inflation. It's what caused the inflation and the debt in the first place

The low interest rates are a gateway to unsustainable debt. There is a sweet spot for interest rates where the economy will do fine and savings accounts will grow. I guess my conservative values keep me out of the troubles of stock market gambling.

For years I explained Medicare to Doctors As part of.managing their practices. I remember at one point, the question arose that if The Fed disagreed with what the AMA decided that the Drs. would take precedence .The Drs.were in charge, not the Feds when it came to the actual medical care that was considered allowable. Therefore, if the new abortion laws were endangering the health and lives of Mdicare patients, the Drs.would have the power to make the calls,because they are the medical professionals, not the feds when they enact mandates. This guaranteed that the feds were not passing laws that would endanger patients. While Medicare laws affect Medicare pts, they have also long been overseers of the quality of medical care ,as they impact the private insurance industries who have adopted their standards. To be approved as a physician to practice anywhere in the United States, (And some other categories of medical providers) They are vetted through the medicare system to check them out thoroughly and guarantee their eligibility status.
The states in changing their laws have created a medical standard that formerly was CONSIDERED
MALPRACTICE. The feds would not do this and it protects all of us to go by their standards. I don't understand why nobody is fighting back with this. This might not happen until insurance companies,

Sure. Republican policy is to give tax breaks to billionaires and corporations and juice the economy while they are in office. There is a reason for Fed independence. For one thing, politicians always want to do the wrong thing with monetary policy. The bank of last resort has to have a policy opposite to that of market players, taking away the punchbowl as the party gets started, and lending freely in a panic.
