  • In this video I build a shaker inspired serving tray as a wedding present. Hand cut dovetails, a raised panel, and a book matched figured panel are all design features in this build. Very simple, but with enough style to never be outdated. I hope you enjoy watching.

It’s nice to see someone who is really a hybrid worker. I see so many of these power tool guys who barely know how to use cross cut saw, let alone the rest of the hand tool arsenal

On the other hand, it really bugs me when a guy spends half an hour ripping a board with a handsaw and then uses a bandsaw to cut a curve. Why not just rip with the bandsaw?

@@johnritchie3889 Yeah, ripping and cutting curves with hand saws sucks. Bandsaw all the way.

If you dont have a router table because of either space or hesitancy to buy another, bigger router, try making an addon for your workbench. I just took a 10mm sheet of plywood, made two pegs that corresponded with dogholes in my bench, then put a triangular base under the plywood overhanging the bench so that the base would rest against a bench leg, the you just make a hole for the router bit and a screws for the base and you are golden. I dont do much heavy operations, so trimrouter is all that I needed so far.

Yeah, space and expense have stopped me. I have a design drawn up for an outfeed table with a router table in it to save space by combining tools. I really should make what you mentioned, it will be safer than clamping a router to the bench.

@@SmokeyCreekWoodworks i found something that looks exactly like mine, except the fence. try Best Workbench Mounting Router Table by Ox in the shop here on youtube. So far I've been happy with mine and now only look at 1/2" routers once a month instead of three times a week
