The thawing out process allows their heart to speed up enough to be detectable. There are literally thousands of people every year that are declared dead before they actually are, okay in most cases their vitals are at such an extreme low that it's very likely that they are unrecoverable, but our ability to accurately declare someone as dead before the onset of rigor mortis is only as accurate as the equipment we have which is not 100% reliable.

If the criticality of greater thought was in the atheist ability, then I would submit that religion is not the greater good. My observations to this point are that the atheist is hateful. I don't know why but perhaps they believe they are being scammed by a system the offers everything and delivers nothing. I would suggest that a person who is hateful, for those reasons, is a greater person within themselves. The challenge today is to know thyself and without an authoritarian task master. But as I said, most atheists are simple minded without the big picture and without the observational qualities that no one can possibly have. To offer some proof, what of scientific reasoning. One example the simulated universe hypothesis that can be read on Wikipedia. The atheist is so biased in their hatred for dominion ever the self, they won't even consider it. I suggest hope is pointless.
It was honestly really refreshing to see a theist engage with openness and honesty and admit to things he didn't know about. So many theists call in with their prepared scripts and refuse to answer even the simplest most basic questions.

Years ago, I lived and worked on the Big Island in Hawaii. I was working for some pillars of a church and helped them finish their church and rectory. On the highway heading for a lumber store there was about 150 people standing on the side of the road holding up banners and signs announcing the end of the world and that the rapture was coming...the date on the signs and banners spelled out the date...it was to happen, the next day. I said Mark, "Pull over, I want to ask that guy if he will sign over his truck. I could use a newer truck." Mark laughed and said, "Now Jim!" and he kept on driving to the Lumber Yard. He wasn't a member of that church, but he didn't want to hurt their feelings. The next day, there were still a few stragglers hanging around, but the main minister of that church, based in Korea, (if I remember correctly,) apologized on the radios and TV, for making a mistake.
What boggles my mind that these people are like "Oh, it was ok back then." but then turn around and say their sky daddy is "all knowing." If he knew that eventually one day mankind would go "Well, golly-gee-wilikers, all these heinous things we've been doing are actually a BAD thing." If a god were real, the old testament would never have been written. Its mere existence is proof alone that it was written by privileged men who knew how to write shit down.

I say I am agnostic in the sense that I don't know what happens when I die but I don't really care other than how I leave my loved ones.
I really wish on these shows they would point out that near death experiences are NEAR DEATH, not death experiences. The old medical definition of death was from the moment breathing and the heartbeat stopped. But we discovered that the brain is still alive for a period of time after death. Which is why being buried alive was a concern in the past. Because people were waking up in morgues, after their heart and breathing started again naturally. After they were declared dead. The term clinical death is now used for when breathing and the heart has stopped. Which leads people to believe they died and were brought back to life. When in reality their heartbeat stopped and they got it going again. Before the brain died. Brain death is the true death, and there’s no coming back from that. It’s when all brain activity ceases. Also on the subject of seeing lights at the end of tunnels and blinding white lights etc. if anyone has passed out you can get tunnel vision. And light tends to appear brighter and more dazzling. Because your pupils are dilated. You can also experience this from oxygen. Like gasping for breath after being revived or after holding you breath for a long time. Not to mention when someone is being resuscitated. They’re on their backs looking upwards. Where the sun is, or room lights, or the lights in the back of an ambulance etc.

When my eyes were open I could see the nurse sitting at her desk doing paperwork but every time I closed my eyes I saw a wall of very ornately carved wooden tiles. When I looked at a single tile I would be zoomed up close to it and see another wall of tiles inside it. And it kept happening over and over. The only thing I can think of why I saw these ornate wooden tiles is because I have always been interested in wood work and carving. Even now those hallucinations seemed so real like I was there and could reach out and touch them. So the mind can make you think something is absolutely real when in fact it is just an hallucination.

Yes, our brains get wonky on anesthesia. Saying NDEs are real experiences because people had them when they were near death is like saying that the things that happen in our dreams actually happen. It's just our own perception of what's happening, and our brains are not perfect.

I had a NDE. I can tell you my experience was everything was black. It was like someone erased that section of the video tape of my life. Had I actually died, I would have never known. One minute I’m standing there the next minute I was on the ground with no memory of what happened in between.
A few months ago, for the first time in my life, I was put under general anesthesia. What a trip! I was looking into the anesthesiologist's eyes one minute and, BOOM, two hours later, I was waking up from the procedure. Total darkness. Total void. Nothing to recall. No memory whatsoever from the two hours I was "out." All the evidence indicates that that is probably what death WILL be like. And after that experience, I am okay with that.
I flatlined in the house, have strange memories of getting put on a gurney and taken out to the ambulance, when I snapped back after a second or third dose of narcan. I have memories of getting stuck on the way out the door, which freaked everyone out when I mentioned it after the fact. The strangest part is that I was out long enough to where some brain damage should have occurred, but all of the testing shows zero signs. And I actually had some baseline info for testing from my days as a psychology student (scores on a bunch of different tests for recall, attention, visual spatial awareness, reaction times, hand eye coordination, higher cognitive functioning & iq tests, etc) The difference is I don’t put a “religious” significance to that, more just my weird position of not being sure that consciousness is necessarily a product only of biology. But even then, I’m “agnostic” about that as my prior position was there is absolutely nothing after you go out. It probably means there’s “nothing”, but I kinda feel uncomfortable making any absolute statements. I read a lot of “interested layman’s” level physics and cosmology around the time I left the church. We’ve had to massively redraw our understanding of the universe so drastically over the last 200 and the rate of discovery of new information makes me think it’s arrogant to say definitively either way. And this isn’t a comfortable think either - if you accept the possibility that consciousness survives death of the brain in some unknown oddity of the universe, you also have to accept the possibility that oblivion is preferable to many of the conceivable possibilities of “existence”. Even if you give it 50/50 odds of “different” being preferable with some possibilities being roughly the same as this level of existence- that isn’t exactly a comfort at all. At the end of the day - I conduct myself as if there’s nothing after, but I don’t assume that’s definitely what happens either.

It's just hilarious to listen to them and when confronted like this guy - have his head explode.
And if they ever have a question or a doubt about something they've been fed by the pastor, they don't go and do some digging, they just ask the pastor who feeds them more cherries and whitewash. It's a wonder any of them ever escape the puddle of BS they were born into.

I like that this guy literally confirmed that the bible was only true back then, but not today.

I have been Agnostic since I was 16. I am now almost 30 and in that time I was still dealing with the anxiety of hell even though I didn't believe in it. Over the last 2 months, I started actually reading the bible and it was really liberating getting to know how ridiculous it is. I feel like I spent a majority of my life like this dude on the phone who has just been told things by his family and fellow church goers. I would honestly encourage everyone to read the bible to really understand how crazy it is. Or if you don't, you at least are thinking for yourself somewhat. I say I am agnostic in the sense that I don't know what happens when I die but I don't really care other than how I leave my loved ones.
Or read some books by genuine historians who study the history of the period.

I had major surgery when I was 45 and when I came too in ICU because of the residual aesthetic I had some to me very real hallucinations.
Once couldn't sleep and tool an OTC sleepaid. Still couldn't fall asleep and so took another one. Woke up and saw a cartoon umbrella like the kind in a Disney movie floating in the air to my right. Been under general several times. I would never take an hallucinogenic, my imagination/dreams alone are too vivid and off the wall.
Yes, our brains get wonky on anesthesia. Saying NDEs are real experiences because people had them when they were near death is like saying that the things that happen in our dreams actually happen. It's just our own perception of what's happening, and our brains are not perfect.

And that wouldn't sell books or movie tickets ;o) Regards from Indiana!
A few months ago, for the first time in my life, I was put under general anesthesia. What a trip! I was looking into the anesthesiologist's eyes one minute and, BOOM, two hours later, I was waking up from the procedure. Total darkness. Total void. Nothing to recall. No memory whatsoever from the two hours I was "out."
All the evidence indicates that that is probably what death WILL be like.
And I actually had some baseline info for testing from my days as a psychology student (scores on a bunch of different tests for recall, attention, visual spatial awareness, reaction times, hand eye coordination, higher cognitive functioning & iq tests, etc)
The difference is I don’t put a “religious” significance to that, more just my weird position of not being sure that consciousness is necessarily a product only of biology.
