This is a quick comparison of four of my favorite Fuzz Face circuits I own. The Mythos "High Road", OCE Pedals "Wrench", Kington "Si Fuzz" and the Berkos FX "Third Stone".
Awesome video! I got a third stone just this week (so still making them!) It’s so good, especially into a Kingtone Blues Power, I can’t turn it off! For me it’s got the midrange in the perfect spot and has such a great cleanup and feel.
Man I love that Berkos. I wish they weren’t so hard to find. It just has that fuzz sound I hear in my head. Amazing pedal. They all sound great but I think the Berkos does something special. I had the Kingtone Si and Ge and loved both of them.
Just got the OCE Wrench V2 yesterday. It's GLORIOUS! Its my first fuzz face and im loving it. I get the fuzz obsession now. Definitely will be trying more FF's in the future. The King Tone Mini Fuzz MkII is going on the list
Fuzz faces are my personal favorite pedals and I have lots of them. But if i have to choose one to grab and go. It would be the kingtone fuzz. The tonal options to match the venue plus the clever bias makes it the best modern/vintage FF to me. Then paired with a Blues Power its... Tonal heaven
Thanks for making this awesome comparison! I have the High Road myself and love it - just ordered Mythos' new 1347 Fuzz. Definitely need to track down a decent priced KingTone MiniFuzz Si, that thing sounds so great!
@@tszegvary Hello! Funny you should ask this because I just posted a video to compare the two. The main difference is the High Road definitely has more of a wooly low end while the 1347 is a bit tighter low end and has more high end clarity. Both are great though 🤘
im starting to realize the fuzz face style of fuzz is what i envision in my head what i like my prototypical fuzz to sound like... Maybe more like the silicon variations with my gibson sg humbuckers...that kingtone fuzz sounds gnarly
Killer tones! I have the Ge version of the KingTone Mini Fuzz, I love it. If you haven't already, I recommend experimenting with the internal switches; Jesse's stock settings are to have the volume boost engaged and the bass enhancement engaged. Both of which sound cool, but I personally prefer both switched back to a more "stock" fuzz face setting which still sounds magnificent on that pedal! I also have the High Road which is a killer pedal!
Great video. I think I prefer the High Road after watching. Have you played the Screamin’Fx 1954 fuzz? I think it’s a fuzz face type of pedal. I don’t think the guy makes them anymore but I’ve been searching the web for a good demo. Always look forward to your pedal overviews.
Love your playing Mark. Much love from Los Angeles here. Apologies for just watching this vid; I’m curious, currently, present day; is “The Wrench” still on your board?
Thanks so much! Yep, the Wrench is still #1. I just built my first fuzz too, with Mason FX, and that is pretty sick - but the Wrench is 100% my thang for sure!

Killer!!! Love my high road to death! What patch cables are you using? The flat ones. Cheers! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great playing! Between the Third Stone and the KingTone, which one do you prefer more? (Also, if you have tried the Pedal Pawn fuzz, how does it stack up?)
Check out Dirty Haggard effects out of Oregon. They punch far far above their price point.Try the tone benzer@$85 it is the stuff your looking for.i know,i know ,$85 shitz over-priced these are not and they truly sound amazing. All of the boxes I have by them the 386 distortion ,the 797 lo-fi overdrive the sqrt fuzz, and 2 tone benzers.worth the time.
I am all about trying out new fuzz... i am a fuzz junkie and I never turn my nose up at lower priced effects - if it's good it's good! Thanks for the recommendation Lee!
Not for me at all, if I had to pick it would be the blue one as it isn't as bloated and farty as the other three. Surprised to see it was the king tone fuzz I liked the least out of the four pedals tied with the 2nd pedal.
I can tell anyone in these comments from experience... I own a berkos fx third stone... great pedal... but it is not worth the money it cost to acquire one of these... the price of this pedal borderline makes it overrated... $500-$600 for this pedal, berkos price, not hiked up second hand... is just not worth it... There are pedals out there that are far better for less money... hell there are in this video... also the third stone... is really optimized if you can run a overdrive after it to shape it like it is running into a broken up amp... it is not that great into a clean amp... Just my two cents...
Kingtone and "the Wrench" for me, I've owned the 3rd stone
Awesome video!

It’s so good, especially into a Kingtone Blues Power, I can’t turn it off!

💯 I freaking love my Blues Power! Fuzz friends unite!!

I just sent Craig my pedal to fix - so I'll have a new Third Stone demo soon!

100% Accurate! Jesse is a genius!
Blues power after fuzz is heaven…
DEFINITLY!
Just found your channel, great stuff buddy! I have 2 of these pedals and they're wonderful.
Thanks for stopping in to say hi and welcome!!! Yeah fuzz is addictive once you get started haha

Thanks for watching! I freaking love fuzz
@@markhopkinsmusic me too man, me too!
I have the 1347. How would you say is the High Road different from the 1347?

These all sound rad
I love fuzz way too much hahaha
Hi Mark
awesome playing
very nice sounding fuzz pedals.
Thanks Massimo!
@@markhopkinsmusic your most welcome Mark love your playing Brother.

oh man- the most versatile fuzz for sure!!

Totally! I have actually never cracked it open to mess with the dip switches. Sounds like a good weekend project to me. Thanks for watching Euan!
@@markhopkinsmusic definitely worth playing with! They all do cool stuff on all of Jesse’s pedals. And I wouldn’t miss a video my man!
High Road for sure 👍
You need to throw that "Light Speed" in front of a couple of those fuzz's
Yes indeed I do!

Thanks David! I have never heard of that fuzz - it's rabbit hole day for me hahaha
King Tone si fuzz with a Blues Power!
That is a magic combo!

@@markhopkinsmusic awesome, thanks!! Really dig your channel, keep up the great work!!!
Any chance you could share the amp settings? I own the same amp and never got it to sound like that. What a wonderful sound!
Shot you the da plate settings in IG

Thanks so much! Honestly, I would probably lean towards the Kingtone Fuzz between the two. I’d love to try the Pedal Pawn stuff at some point.
@@markhopkinsmusic That's good to know since I'm looking for a good fuzz face. Looking forward to more demos. Thanks Mark! Happy holidays

Fuzz is a tough thing and so subjective. I feel like it takes a while to find one that you gel with.
Why does the Kingtone sound like it has an octave up?
every now and again it does get those overtones- it's an awesome pedal!
