Good evening King Snowy, Solomon and Sealskinz are a dream team, agreed about the sock rotation, horses for courses ❤🦶been wearing mine alot recently too 🤗 Misty ole day again hey, loved the Inn Tale, nice bit of history 🍻☕🍰 Naughty that the footpath was blocked, idiots 🤬 Loch walk was nice, bit of a pet peeve people not closing gates, countryside code 1-0-1 not 🚀🧪🥽 4 miles of up and a belly full of food, feeling that pain! 🥓🍰🎂 not to mention the rucksack of temptation 🤭🧐 Thanks for the share Snowy, have a great week, Ceri and Kat 🧤🧣❤☕🧭🗺
I stayed at Tibbie Shields during my SUW trek in 1991. The Tornado planes I told you about came straight up the Loch as if using the pub as a target - it was rather unnerving, sitting in the lounge, writing postcards and seeing them coming towards me. You’ll be in Galashiels next, then Melrose. Almost on my near-home ground - I’m only 30 miles away. My neighbour and I often go for a day out in Edinburgh on the Border Railway from Tweedbank. Good luck on your continuing journey. I look forward to seeing the border country as you walk through.
Thanks Emma, yeah I suppose those war planes would scare anyone flying in formation! When I was a child I remember being terrified of the air attack siren and those nuclear attack warning adverts on TV. Cold war was going on and Frankie goes to Hollywood was signing about two tribes going to war!
Top man for raising awareness on the humble sock! I have several pairs of Darn Tough and they've never let me down. I must look into that foot creme you mentioned. An Army marches on its stomach! Nothing wrong with stocking up on cakes and buns to keep you going!🥮🍩🍪🎂🍰🧁🍫🍬🍭☕
Love my Saliies too but the Quest Primes for Dartmoor etc & the X Ultra 3s for all other walking. I tried waterproof socks for the first time on the Dartmoor Perambulation trip (part 2 out on Sunday). I was really impressed and no blisters after 4 days👍👍, they're now part of my kit. This section was a nice mix of walking, looking forward to the next one, atb Simon
Must be a good combination of footwear you are using, feet looked fresh mate.........I quite like those misty conditions to hike in as well as its not that horrible fine rain that soaks you, snazzy dog-gate that mind. Lovely along that loch, lots of those Riever towers dotted along the Scottish/English border.............loved the broad forest track snowy..........another enjoyable episode mate.......👌👍...............ATB...........Stu.
what a great adventure your having, must say you have great mental strength with all that cake in your bag and you hadnt stopped lol, all the best nigel
Nice one Nigel thanks for stopping by it's tough to keep cake 🍰 in the rucksack and I gave in a little further up the hill and stuffed my face a bit!😁😁🍺
Top tips from a proven hiker , too many on YT with zero experience giving out advice . Proper grim weather on this one snowy but being prepared like you makes life easier . Those boots look good too , I am on the lookout for another pair of fabric boots as my Lowa boots are getting tired having done lots of miles, atb Dave
Thanks Dave, I've heard a lot of good things about Lowa boots if they work good for you then stick with them and buy a new pair. I went through many boots until I stumbled on these and they work great for me. I remember hearing from one or two on my channel that they had the same pair of Sallys and they fell apart lol so I don't know maybe I'm just lucky with them and look after them well!😄
@@snowymatrix Thanks , its my 2nd pair and they are so comfy and like you no blisters . I have a pair of sally shoes and they are starting to come away from the sole 😂 . The lowas are always cleaned and sprayed after every hike , look after your shoes and they will look after you 🥾👍
Yeah a real shame about the Inn. The cafe by the road is ok though. It was raining and I couldn't be bothered to visit the tower sounds like I had a lucky escape 👍🍺😁
yeah close the gate.. good to know about the boots.. lot of information there.. i wish i could visit that old pub or inn..lot of wind .. and theories. hahaha.. so much fun.. love those huge trees.. they are like little shelters. wow deep dark indeed.. so mysterious. wow unpredictable weather but nothing like ours here lol.. hope that person who is lost is not hurt. that would be pretty bad.. can the helicopter see in that weather.. ? wow what a wind.. wont that wind get into your tent .? oh you have another tent set up? look amazing though.. enjoy !!! cant wait to see the next video❤️👍
The wind did get in the tent it's in the next episode! I didn't get much sleep. Oh yes extreme weather in Canada! We are quite lucky in Britain it very rarely gets too bad but there was a tornado that hit a few miles east of where I live in London a couple of months ago! 🌞
@@snowymatrix oh really? i thought you guys dont get tornadoes over there.. thats not good.. thanks for the update.. and lets watch the next video ..lol
I do the same thing with socks :) I use X-Socks Compression trail running, and Sealskins wen it is getting really wet. ( I tried the Darns but those are just not for me ) Love my Saliies to :) good to see you on trail again.. That hill at 8:18 looks almost identical to Dent Hill at the start of the C2C a nasty little bugger :)
All these green hills look the same after a while! Dixie(homemade wanderlust) mentioned the darn toughs in one of her first AT trail videos so I bought a pair and never looked back👍😁 Thanks for stopping by all the best🍺🍺
just catching up m8 another interesting episode ive been using injinjis my last 2 hikes swapping twice a day & rubbing a bit of Vaseline on my feet seemed to work no blisters 👍 put my seal skins on first thing to go through the wet grass. atb daz
Can't believe they blocked off the trail. We know that kind of thing goes on, but this is not some inconvenient little footpath between two villages, this is a Scottish National Trail! If they don't like the trail going past their house, there are ways to apply for an official reroute. You don't just park a damn caravan across the trail! @#$^$#! Anyway, we are recent converts to the Gehwohl (it's German and literally means 'walk well' btw 😉) foot cream. Was recommended to us by a fellow hiker on the C2C. Tried it on our most recent hike and really liked it. But we put it in a little jar, too - not for Gram Wiener purposes but because we didn't like how sharp the edges of the tube felt. The things you start looking for when hiking, ey? 😂
Walk well I like the translation! I discovered it years ago listening to an old outdoor podcast by Bob from the outdoor station so it's been around for a long time. German chemical engineering lol 👍🍺😁
I've suffered with blisters a lot in the past but I only wear cheap socks 😂, I almost bought a pair of them boots in the sale , they went down in price, when I finally went to buy them they'd gone up again, all the best mate 👍
Dog lift. Great idea. If you had been at st Mary's loch on a warm dry day it would be difficult to hear because of all the motorcycles. The police use that road for training. Weather looks like a typical Scottish day. What tent pegs do you use? I'm in the market for an upgrade. Plenty calories to fuel the body. I'll be honest, I'd have stopped 🤣🍰👍
I use 9 inch msr carbon cores and 9 inch msr ground hogs mate. You can also get them in shorter lengths too. 👍 I did stop just after I said that and scoffed another cake! 🍰😅 Thanks for stopping by Stevie 🍺🍺
Enjoyed this series, thanks for taking us with you! I’m planning my first through hike (did a couple in NZ 20 odd years ago!) next Spring - I’m an experienced hiker but my trips are usually 2-3 days. I’ve short listed this one and the C2C. The former appeals due to the remoteness, the latter for the varied terrain. I know this one isn’t finished yet but do you have a preference?
Thanks, I did this trail beginning of June just spread out the content for a few months 👍 I would do the C2C first then the SUW both are magnificent trails. The only reason is that's how I did it so can't say otherwise!👍😄😁
Lots of interesting messages on fences in this episode 😂 Ah sounds like the Loch supplied some delicious treats for your journey too! Was the helicopter searching for people who got lost on the trail you think? Another great episode Snowy. Hope you’re doing well 😊
😄 Interesting messages on fences there was a few on this day! I could hear the helicopter for quite some time so it must have been up to something but I was only guessing people were lost. I just couldn't think of any other reason for the helicopter to be out there? I hope you're having a great week too, Dee🌞
Well done. Like 102

Afternoon Ceri & Kat☕🍰☕ I forgot to say that after the 4 miles of forest upwards walking there was still another 3 miles of moorland uplands to go!😅
On every hike, equipment is every important thing. Nice hiking tour. 😊😊 We also get hungry after a good walk.😄😂

Shame about Tibbie Shiels. It used to welcome backpackers. I’ve climbed that tower. Predictably, the top was covered in bird droppings.
