Best quote ever, "did you know I taught Takumi from Initial D to drift in one of these?"
@Kane-baka thats awesome
and im your 210 like position
Plz give timing of the quote in video
@@hamzadragonball 38:45
so what i learned is keiichi tsuchiya is the real bunta fujiwara
keisuke takahasi my thought exactly
me too he is slow at hairpins
i thought people knew this already? If you watch the closing credits you see a pair of green gloves which are modeled after the green Kei office gloves he always wore.
Bunta is not Keiichi Tsuchiya.... There's a short scene in the anime where Bunta talks to him on the phone. He's not shown but at the end of their call, Keichii gets called by someone and has to hang up. They said "Mr Tsuchiya, we need you".
Although Keiichi did say that Bunta scared him for life haha
no not at all, bunta learnt the skills from keiichi
I actually have the Drift Bible DVD and got it signed by Tsuchiya at the D1 In irwindale in 2003. I also got my Trackside passes signed by him as well.
SKOTxFREE wow!! That's awesome.
Is this the only video in that bible or is there even more videos??
I would sign my life away for these
The English narrator speaks so awkwardly, I love it and live for it.
Sounds like an English dub animae
Just like one of my animes.
Real stuff here! I have had the pleasure of not only drifting on all the tracks in the video. But also being in drift events judged by the drift king himself. This is real technique here.
+DonaldJacksonDrift I noticed there's no endless limiter bashing or clutch kicking, great stuff at least the 10th time iv'e watched it haha
Clutch kicking is almost the same as side (e-brake) drifting, because you have to clutch kick to actually pull the e-brake. The big difference in the two is that when you pull the e-brake you are making sure that the rear wheels are locked. Both accomplish pretty much the same goal and like DK said those are novice/basic moves.
@M0rzone why is competition completely devoid of advanced techniques like shift lock
he was the guy fishing in tokyo drift
No, he is Tokyo drift.
Mhm
Joshua Kyle good job
The drift fisher?
Joshua Kyle he was also the one driving ;)
Over 4 years ago I first watched this thinking “I understand”
But now driving an FRS(low powered car) I actually understand what he means when he talks about driving the AE86 and keeping the revs in the power band while counter steering... this man is a drift wizard.... no... a Drift King(,:
Doriftu kingu
You still have it? It’s been a few years. Hahaha
@@ryanlawson6411 I do! I actually also recently bought a Tesla Model Y for daily driving! Haha
But as for the FR-S it’s basically my track/canyon driving car now. And I’m going to Streets of Willow this Friday for a Time Attack Event!(: life is good haha
The scene at 0:55 is also in Initial D, in the second episode, when they are at the gas station and watch TV.
Brooooooooo
Yup
I thought the clip was from plupsy not the drift bible
wtf it literally iss
@@BURG3R1912 Plupsy was filmed 10 years before this and he drove a 86. Wild how time flys.
so this is what they where watching on initial d stage 1
"I wish Toyota would make cars like this again". Man I bet this guy was frigging stoked about the GT86.
rwd and a potato engine is not everything you need. It has all the downs of a "new" car.
he wasnt lol
@@lucywucyyy He helped design it...
@@thatoneintrovert9618 really?
@@lucywucyyy
Yeah.
You can actually read a little about it here:

It's 2019 and I still come here for the basics of drifting everytime I want a refresh
"I wish toyota could make cars like this again" flipping genius. This video changed my life when I first saw it. I got to drift the 2016 86 at Willow Springs and I'm glad I got to do that. but, I will always love these older cars.
Really he taught Takumi how to drift, wow legend.
@Zachary Currier What? He didnt. He helped with animation and logics of driving and drifting. Mr six year old comment..
@@onyjdm He did. Bunta and Keiichi are old racing friends and one day when Takumi was doing his usual delivery, Keiichi stopped Takumi thinking it was Bunta and he taught him for a bit
@@keiichitsuchiya7123 What? That never happened.
@@onyjdm it did, that is why I said in the drift tutorial
The music makes me feel like I'm watching a tutorial from Wii Sports
"Did you know I taught Takumi from Initial D how to drift one of these?" xD lol he's hilarious
best tip of all the video: "how did I become the drift king? I can only say that i was driving day & night." what a badass
0:45 remember the footage they watch in the garage? when garage boss ask Takumi about drifting techinques
Yes lol. This inspired a whole generation.
"It's all wet here."
That good sir. Is what she said after she watched this video.
Definitely
I can vouch for that.
2024 still the most informative drift video in the world
Thanks for liking this video, hope it will help you guys to drift!
36:34 '(the AE86 has) just the right amount of power to have fun'
Keiichi knows the truth behind 'slow car fast is better than fast car fast'
I don't drift, I prefer the technicality of grip driving, but I always come back to this video to watch Keiichi's foot and handwork. It's simply amazing.
Whats more technical than drifting? Rallying! hhaha
I think every racer should know the basics of drifting. Sure, learning grip is helpful for speed, but learning how to drift may be helpful for recovery from mistakes. Also a fun change of pace imo
See, the concept of drifting is simple. It's those little techniques and details that make the drift bible so incredibly powerful.
probably my biggest inspiration right now is keiichi
Lucifer Malfoy dont forget Takumi and Bunta
26:38 I feel personally attacked
Lol i felt that too
I have an S13 240sx Coupe... That was painful to hear 🤣
I love the music and how it kicks in when the instructional segments begin
His tyres sound like Gozilla
No, godzilla sounds like his tires.
NGELO9657 Thats HARDCORE.
NGELO9657 wicked cool
That sir, is the correct answer
NGELO9657 I wanted to like your comment but it has 69 comment
I used this for gran turismo with my steering wheel and it helped me improve a lot the only con is my car tuning skills aren't that good
Me too lmao
I’m watching this for that same reason :/
im trying to follow what they are saying and this fucking music is blasting in my ear
*eurobeat intensifies*
The power going into your tires is actually dependent on the volume of the eurobeat in your car.
35:20 ahhh we meet again you legend ;)
generallees13 should’ve put a cup with water in it on the cup holder
79 people are train drivers
LOL
Train drivers?
gotta maintain your handbrake
train goes "straight" get it ? "cant drift"
now there are 84 train drivers
I've probably watched this over 10 times
i've probably came back to this 10 times, and every time i come back to it, i watch it 10 times. total times watched = 100 times
I've just bought an MX5 and I want to learn, do u think this is video is good or should I watch something else?
I think you should have bought something else, jk
Benedetto Dell'Ariccia weld the diff
No, install an LSD
The G-Ball - Times before electronic G-Force devices were invented.
Takumi had a water cup. 😸
I appreciate how little understeer goes into the Fast drift. Makes sense. Show drift is for going sideways, and fast drift is for actually going around the corner as fast as possible(faster than the grip of the tires on their own with a Fast Grip run). My philosophy is that the idea is to get the car around a corner as fast as possible, even if that means “floating” the tires by making the most of the forward momentum and acceleration, without adding yaw to the front or rear- usually in an FR car that means there will likely be higher G’s in the rear than the front causing a slide anyway- essentially understeering(grip or slight slide) with the front even while counter steering, and oversteering(drift slide) in the rear, using the rear and differential’s abilities and tuning, to go push around the corner with as much speed as possible.
I understand tires are the biggest upgrade a regular car can have towards performance, but I believe that a properly tuned suspension and differential makes more of a difference in how much the car can handle with whatever tires are on it, and how much rotational speed it can handle(G’s) without excess yaw(under or oversteer)
He proves that even though this is 18 years old that you don’t need insane amounts of horsepower to drift. Also these techniques STILL are essential to drifting even today he shows the finesse and footwork of a master drifter who has experience.
Drifting today is all about flash and sponsorships and horsepower. To me the sport died long ago when it turned into a d**k measuring contest about who has the most money and who has the most insane set up that isn’t drifting.
This is just tooo awesome.... this video really does work, its not like the other drift videos. U can really study off this..... THankya so much guys (Y)
I love how much fun he has in the ae86
i would prefer subtitles -.-

yeah nah. ill just weld an open
I wish I could find the soundtrack
This guy is a legend indeed. Keiichi Tsuchiya the "Drift King" for the win!
Fun fact: a short clip was showcased in Initial D in the First Stage I believe it was Act 3 or 2 when they laugh at Takumi for explaining what a drift is
Act 1 in one of the first episodes
Also remember guys, you need a Rear Wheel Drive car.
the real diehards drift backwards with an FF
u can also drift with a awd
pfffff no. you just pull the ebrake after parking overtop of fast food trays.
How hard or bad is it for an AWD car to drift?
CrazyKnows With a RWD car you just lose traction on the rear wheels, controlling the angle of your car with the gaspedal. While you drive "normal" with the front wheels, those keep traction and guide your car. That won't work with an AWD car. Since you have power on the front wheels as well, the car tends to just pull itself back on a straight line. What you have to do with an AWD car is called all wheel drifting, you have to break the traction on all four wheels. Therefore drifting with an AWD car is *much* harder.
I wish toyota make cars like this again. "Still waiting in 2019"
Also the gr yaris
He helped design the FRS...
Exactly, it's like there aren't any slower non-turbo cars for them, but Tsuchiya is a pro, he knows what he means when he says that. It's about finesse, rather than brute strength.
He really earns the name; DRIFT KING
I can do this in my ford fiesta!!! Hold my beer
+Doge Fujiwara Well i can do it in my ford sierra :D
I REALLY WANT A FORD SIERRA IN MY LIFE
Awesome car!
+Doge Fujiwara it sure is an awesome car! and they are relatively cheap to buy you could try one! if I were you I'd go with the '91 or the '93 which is also the one my father let me with :-D
+Doge Fujiwara Good example. Never drink and drive. You first drink, then you can drive. It is dangerous to hold beer with one hand while the other hand steers. You might SPILL the beer!!!
+Admiral Ackbar I'm already 18 and I'm allowed to drink and drive. although I don't like alcohol ;-)
I watched this back when I was in like the 2nd grade and I'm a college freshman now. Lol
.
I've been feint drifting and now have added a few techniques to my arsenal
Look how accurate the digital speedo is, that far more reliable and up-to-date than most modern speedos
What is this L.S.D. Thing??? Should I drift when high???
Tales486 Limited Slip Differential
Tales486 the LSD basically lock up the rear tires and make them turn at the same speed or time.
Limited slip differential
a device that equalizes torque between two wheels rolling at different speed, having them locked at the same speed
idk man...dragons could come out of the corner and spoil your exit.
You're here because you're either an Initial D fan or a Tokyo Drift fan
Thanks for the upload bro.
who's back here in 2022?
3years ago I said to my father I can handle a car pretty well, He asked me how, I showed him this..3years later....
The car still stays in the garage He never gave me the keys, Don't know why? :p
Feint drifting or KANSEI DORIFTO?
That was a damn good video dude I'll can't wait to see another 1
Seeing him overjoyed in the old AE86 reminds me of Chris Harris' review of the 911 R, in which he spent most of his time enjoying an old Peugeot 205 Rally!
If you're lucky you can upgrade LSD, but if you're broke af you can weld your diff.
open diff and rain :p
Welding it isn't so cheap either that's alot of welding and if you screw it up you either need something to shave it in areas or you'll need a new one
thats what im saying
u can get it welded for like $100 lmao
It's £40 in UK
Feel like, I first should learn how to drive....
Seeing the speed of entry and exit, I would say that this (10:38) is the perfect Drift for a time attack on the corners of a Japanese touge.
Negative, too much counter steer to be competitive at legit racing however at 1:06:39 is a perfect drift with
m i n i m a l coutersteer *that* was a perfect drift.
Watched this 9 years ago with no car lol now I’m back because I bought my first drift car
Congrats! What car did you get?
Next video should be how to do a reverse entry
watching this before my 1st drift competition lol
Thank you for upload again! =D
Good teacher .
Damn drifting takes a lot ofballs. Going in to a korner sliding sideways at high speeds is something else man
This is like trying to learn Calculus.
I'd rather learn this than calculus :D
Crystal Tam
Exactly ^
OH ITS CAUSE HE'S ASIAN ISN'T IT YOU RACIST FUCK! D:< jk I
but...Calc is easy
:,( you're so right, but I'd learn this over calc any day
Thanks for the video. Looks great!
A challenger comes with a RWD platform. So it's possible to drift with it. Just keep on practicing!;) Tsuchiya is a good teacher;)
Does anyone have a source for the music?
Id love to know if you found it!
Does anyone know which circuit it is where he drives the AE86? I'm pretty sure it's neither Ebisu Higashi, Nishi or Minami, so which could it be?

here is the assetto corsa mod (:
amazing !!!, I tried this for 2 months , I can drift very well
Love your videos! been watching them cause i added a car mod to my christian minecraft server. HAHA KEEP IT UP!
learning to drift in a 150hp NA 80s car. This helped me a ton.
The music is way too loud
I love this more than any comment i could write would explain it.
this guy is a legend !
i love this video, just wish there wasnt that annoying background music
yes video would be so much beter without that music cant hear the guy properly
legend
The 128 dislikes are Prius drivers who try to drift
Narrator is bad at relaying the tone lol.
That's what makes it great, adds a new comedic layer to it.
Oblithian always kinda loved how timid he sounded lol
They couldn't have found a better narrator. Trust me!
same goes with anime... not surprising
"Drifting is not about power"
People in 2020: 800+ hp
Non-pro drifters don't go around with 800+ hp cars. Try going to an amateur event...
Thanks for the video !
Such a legend!
ken block vs keiichi nah keiichi prove that you don't need a power full car to drift
Ken Block would bring a 800 HP hoonicorn and Keiichi would come up with a 120 HP AE86 and beat his lap times
Bunta, it's you?
Thats takumi bruh
Edgar Wills
bullshit, its Itsuki! Or Nakazato before he discovered Grip racing
Bunta is supposed to be keiichi, hence why bunta is the best racer in gunma or japan
Hatsune miku 01 actually i thought keiichi was buntas pro racing friend
David Jack he is

Nice! Now imma practice in my mom's Toyota innova...wish me luck 😁
What is the music is there a name
Did you ever find it?
i want an s14 now
thanks, i needed this explanation :D
this is good advice man im gomna try it bro
"E-Brake it!"
"so how should a beginner set up his or _her_ machine to drift like the king" - Wow, that's a rare phrase used with a rare thought. Pleased to see this wording in the video- well worth watching.
the40rk what does he said? Because with that music I can't understand shit.
Can someone please write me down the technics and how they work? Some things I don't understand with the clutch
Anyone know the name of the song during the credits screen? Its yuichi nemoto but I can't seem to find the name. :(
lol i have no idea what he's talkin about XD
stiliqn007 same. but i won't give up lol
Basically you do a slow then a speedy and your car will do a slippidydoo, so you gotta to a spin on the wheel and a lil more speedy upon exit.
That's exactly how you do it.
