- Until not too long ago, Blizzard Entertainment still had all the prestige that the developer had typically been associated with over the years. When Blizzard put out a new game, the entire industry would pause and take notice, and almost as a rule, these new games would shatter expectations and be met with rapturous critical and commercial reception.
Recent years, however, have brought a few blemishes to Blizzard's pristine record- and probably the biggest blemish of the lot is Warcraft 3: Reforged.

I encourage blizzard to continue botching everything they touch till they are forced to disband as a company. They deserve the worst when profits are prioritized over the consumer.

Warcraft 3 was and still is one of my most favourite and memorable games, growing up. It is such a shame to see how Activision is butchering Blizzard, one my the most respected game studios (AFAIK). Such a shame!

The game is now playable i think. they improved some areas and the client definitely one of them , i mostly play on old graphics and new ones arent that baaad tho but still . i think next patch will be the turning point as they added tournaments and some cool stuff

What we really wanted was only a SLEIGHT update in the model/asset details, with the same base unit models.. Not a complete rework of everything to the point it isn’t immediately recognizable as the same unit, visual unit details are actually changed, and the models/units feel different when you play with them.
That's what you wanted... I, for one, actually wanted a full rework of graphics. Problem is, they did it in a really crappy way.
Ya I was thinking the same like they will just upgrade its visuals and audio since the rest did not need fixing really.
I almost bought reforged, for a good 10 years now blizzard had started getting a bad track record, and I'm glad I didn't buy it. I hope they fix this someday as I always wanted to see this in its full glory, new models, redesigned areas etc, I'm stil appalled that this was never finished...
I actually pre-ordered it, but as soon as the reviews came out, I contacted Blizzard demanding a refund based on that information, and because I never downloaded and used it.
Customer service said at the time that they could only provide me a partial refund, as the pre-order was bundled with the BlizzCon digital pass, and that refund could only be in Blizzard store credit.
I understood about the Battle pass part, but of course when it came to the refund itself I didn't take that lately, so I replied that I would be more than happy to sign a document that would exclude me from the eventual class action settlement if they were to provide me a full financial refund of the game itself.
Interestingly, they suddenly had the ability to give me a refund. Not only that, but they also gave me a refund for the battle pass... who knew?
They never did ask me to sign that document, though. 🤔
@@TheEDFLegacy Noones breathing down their necks they can do anything they want. Anyway... preorders definitely ruin all games, everyone starts slacking off when money is already reserved on their account awaiting release , best avoid preorders since they rarely give anything good
@@Reknilador Agreed on the latter part. In the case of the former, I'm not so sure; Blizzard staff used to be super helpful, but that situation was like pulling teeth. It wasn't until I even _hinted_ at joining an inevitable class action that they suddenly changed their tune; I didn't mention that until after 3-4 messages in the chain.

I was the same but im kind of a bit confident towards patch 1.33.0 who came out in August, seems to have adressed many issues... I dont care for multiplayer I wanna relive the story, so I might give it a shot soon

I preorderd Warcraft 3 Reforged from the moment they announced it, and if they would have told me "sorry the game will be delayed" I would say "take your time and deliver an amazing game" but what I get on release was straight forward scam and this makes me really sad. I love this game so much, that I'll still buy it once they achieve a state of quality I can live with-.
this game is actually a good case for why you should NEVER preorder a game. the fact that there were prrorder ended up affecting the release.

As a WC3 fan for over 15 years, someone needs to be fired (or worse!). This shit is so unacceptable.
Yeah no kidding, Literally the original was way better than the reforged version. Nobody even plays on the updated graphics. Everything they changed they changed for the worse.
Sad really because Warcraft 3 reforged had so much potential to be amazing remaster but they dropped the ball hard.
Why does nobody ever talk about the single player campaign where you traveled all over one big map. I can't remember what it was called but I thought it was the best part and it just disappeared.

@@NaysWRLD I don't remember the name. That could be it. It was one big map and you changed characters while doing quests all over it. I think they called it the bonus campaign at one time.

You might have to wait till 2025 before he should be done with it in sc2 if he continues so long

"Blizzard made one mistake after another..." Sounds about Blizzard.
Do NOT compare Warcraft 3: Reforge to Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, the first is a remaster, the latter is a remake/the 5th expansion pack. What you should compare it to is AoE2:HD, which also got mediocre review, but was given expansions that lead to a complete resurrection of the franchise and a growing E-sport scene. Given that development on title this old is very cheap and quick, there’s no reason why Blizzard couldn’t do the same, especially when they have a stronger brand name. If Activision wanted Call of Duty Money, potentially, they lost way more.
hopefully microsoft acquiring the damn activision finally makes this company great again. They really should clean it

warcraft III was my childhood, and I was so excited to play it again when I FINALLY got my Game PC last month, I am SO sad this game got remade and the original version cannot be played anymore, because Blizzard was like "snif snif, I smell money!" and made a cashcrab remake and took the old one away from us... ):
The team working on the game was forced to ship the game early, before it was complete, and then laid off.
There's a lot to hate about this horrible attempt, and while the graphics themselves are not the primary offender, they also have various flaws. Some of it actually looks pretty good, but on the whole too many things look drab, washed out, and difficult to distinguish compared to the original. Like Breath of the Wild and other "cartoonish" looking games, original WC3 still looks pretty decent even today. It seems like they tried to go for a more realistic art direction for reforged, and the graphics suffered as a result. A lot of the up-close detail looks pretty nice, but as soon as you zoom out to look at a battlefield it completely lacks the punchy, pop-out-at-you style that is a MUST HAVE for controlling units on the battlefield. A large part of that is that shadow work seems pretty terrible. But also team-coloring on many units waaaaay too small.
They had a gold mine in their hands. It was almost impossible to fuck it up

I never played Starcraft, so I cannot compare them to each other.
But the original Warcraft 3 was fun. I enjoyed the SP campaign and I was addicted to MP maps for a while. There were a ton of good ones. I can’t
remember all of them as this is like 20 years ago, but Tower Defense and DoTa stand out.
There was a horde mode MP map too. Where waves of enemy’s came at your fortress and you could fall back until finally your team was defending a small building. When that fell the game was over.
It reminds me of the final battle in LotR The Two Towers.

As an avid SC2 player, I was disappointed to see some much needed improvements, like scroll lock, entirely absent. The single player campaign is way too easy but it was still worth torrenting

And it's still thriving. Everyone just shrugged, stuck with classic graphics(which you can still play for free), and switched to the new community made ladder, W3Champions, when Blizzard broke the old one. At this point Bliz could abandon the game completely and the custom game and ladder communities would live on uner their own support and power.
What I want to know is if the campaign and custom games are in a good state. That's what I always liked about Warcraft 3. I don't play competitive online in strategy games, I get wrecked in the first 5 minutes.
Some custom games can get buggy due to the upgrade.
@@MrAllmightyCornholioz I bought a key for the classic version which can still be activated for much cheaper. I don't have access to the new graphics, but everything else works so far.
@@radicalcentrist4990 Even when you buy the reforge model, the skin will revert back to the classic skin on some maps. Some of the glitches I've experiences are in Kodo Tag and TD. Can't point out specifically since it's been a while since i played, but it involves the AI's movement pattern.
@@MrAllmightyCornholioz well I'm probably not gonna buy Reforged ever. Blizzard doesn't deserve money for that shit. The classic key that I bought was from the grey market also. I used to own the disc version of Warcraft 3 a long, long time ago but I didn't properly take care of it.
@@radicalcentrist4990 I agree. After the whole fiasco started, I asked them for a refund. After that, I realized it was free if you owned a copy of the classic WC3. That is some bullshit especially when the game cost $40 for a crappy reskin?
I never played the original but got the remastered. Once I saw that I could not pause nor save offline matches against AI, I never ended up playing and wish I got the refund. I can't afford to not leave my seat once a match has started lol. Was pausing and saving a feature they forgot or was it never in the original?
Good news they are finally adding custom campaigns to reforged in the next update Version 1.35.0 if you're from the future :D.

Finally, I’m waiting for the Quenching mod to have more updates before I purchase a copy of Reforge. Quenching mod should’ve been the Reforge that we got now. It’s annoying how Blizzard was once one of the best Game Companies and now their ratings gone down pretty hard.
@@mephisto5856 the reason for Blizzard not producing the games they once did is because of Activision, but hopefully that all changes when Microsoft finally acquisition them :)
Hey guys, I’ve never played a Warcraft game in my life. I was wondering if it would be worth it to get this or not. I have no expectations and no knowledge of the original game. I’d only be playing single player. Thoughts? Like, is it still broken. Should I just get the original.
If you can find an original before reforged get it. It’s a very fun game and personally I have reforged and play custome maps and have a blast with friends we play everyday after work m-f and weekends so many different game modes that come with it is amazing and have yet to find a similar game on the scale of custom maps

I doubt anyone here has more hours on warcraft 3 than me.. Its always been my main game and its just been slowly dying.. It needs to become free to play asap
I've been playing the campaign, it's been great up to the undead mission 3 which is very broken. I have had 6 crashes on it and after defeating sylvanus once she never respawned. Decided to take a break to have a look at custom games, there's only about 15 lobbies mostly less than half players in each. None of the games are decent either.
I got a major craving to play Warcraft 3 and am considering buying Reforged. Do you think I should stick to the original?
@@pas0003 Yeah I hit a game breaking bug on nightelf campaign for frozen throne, could not escape the island as Maive as the game crashed instantly

I actually ended up getting it and almost right away stumbled upon a loading issue. Nothing game breaking so far, but definitely a glaring QA issue.

@@pas0003 Lots of people experience crashing yeah, apparently if you tweak some graphic settings to minimum it may not crash. But I have a 2080 super and it's a beast of a PC, don't want to compromise 🤣 I had great fun up until frozen throne, there was also two undead missions when you attack silvermoon or chase sylvanus in the woods that crashed constantly, had to save every 30 mins and load after every crash to even beat the levels. Frozen throne mission even saving that often didn't help!
Just be warned if you're like me and grew up on classic WC3 or you're obsessed with the lore, this sparked my temptation to play WoW again...😅

Blizzard is a classic story of massively incompetent senior executives who refuse to step down and instead either blame mid-level management and entry-level hires, or just outright refuse to accept their own failures and just keep trying to move past them without fixing any of the underlying issues. Blizzard-Activision will either go under or be forced to completely reorganize by shareholders within the next 10 years.
I don't wanna wait 10 years for Reforged to be fixed...

I certainly never asked for re-recorded voice lines. What a waste that would be. Overhauling the UI is far more important. The UI of WCIII was designed for 4:3 screens. Just like Doom it was a giant statusbar taking up the bottom of the screen, effectively making the "game" widescreen.
Leaving that same statusbar where it was in the bottom-middle of a widescreen monitor is just plain stupid. It needed to be broken up, but at the very least could have been made vertical for the left side or something.
I preordered the game and when it came out and saw that it was a disaster i requested a refund, now once a year i still check the game to see its status hopefully that someday it will be worth buying and playing. I want to buy the game, i wanted to even now as i write the comment but its the same as the released game so its not worth the money.
It's probably worth the 30 bucks asking price for those who can't get their old copies to work and just want to play through the campaigns for nostalgia. Most non-multi-player related issues have been fixed as of me writing this comment.
I bought a game called War-Ashes, I got addicted to it, when I reached the huge monster in the sixth maze, I didn't find a solution for it. Can you make us a combat video? Half a day passed and I didn't find a weakness for it. The game is on Microsoft Store
I hope whatever Malaysian Studio which is responsible for this Reforged has learned their lesson - hard. So do those arrogant BOSSES in the Game Industry.
Heck I pre ordered this (not recommended) but I’ve kept it and play since I enjoyed the fresh visuals(ye still got the OG WC3)

Activision don't care about the players only the money, this is shown through all the games they are now involved with.
Hopefully that changes when Microsoft acquisition them, I really hope Microsoft improve alot of their games and remaster them the way they should be and not give it a half arsed effort and make them game worse.
Diablo 2 resurrected was also messed up when they decided to change the character models.
They just can’t resist changing things to try and “modernize” them.
And I never wanted to play D2R because of that.
I will continue with original Diablo 2...
That was not problem for me at all. However, not allowing private server was horrible decision. Will stick with Path of Diablo.

New graphic look bad. In RTS games it is very imported for units to look very clear and make it easy to distinguish one unit from another.
As much as I would love to buy Regorged, I will not until they absolutely fix it. Activision is damaging a brand that was special to many people growing up and I refuse to signal to them that I am okay with it by spending my money.

hell it's STILL a glitchy fucking mess. you can't even play the fucking campaign without even having the damn thing crash the game on you between missions!
As someone only grinded RPG or ORPG map with save load mechanic, the graphic of reforged is kinda mehh when comparing to some high quality makes custom maps........ Heck, they even want to claims all the custom maps makes by the community, are they really brain dead I wonder? The map makers struggle to keeps the game survives for more than 10 years, but this reforged become a finishing blow to PURGE all the left over map makers....
I always knew Activision would be the fall of Blizzard. They used to be my favorite company and now I can barely stand them now.

I think blizzard have a serial problem with UI teams. look at dragonflight, warcraft 3 reforged etc.... they should hire professional and creative guys to do this job. RIP Blizzard

I bought it with a huge smile on my face and within a half hour it went into the “ meh, maybe some day I’ll play it again” pile. This is what you get blizzard for selling your soul to the digital devil.
You bought the game, blizzard got what they wanted, your money.
Not playing it doesn't hurt them in any way. You should never have bought the game to begin with.

Just bought a pc, use to play on my stepdads and was so excited to buy this then I look it up on YT, Google etc and everythin just says it sucks. was so saddened, I was so excited to bring back some memories

hold on activison can't tell what blizzard what they can do, that violates their contract since blizzard only team up with them to save activison. i played the game, it doesn't even look like Blizzard art team. too dark in coloring and hyper realistic is not it. i hate how they change thrall, they removed his nose ring and pierced tusks he also never had a topknot he had a mane.
I enjoyed the game but that is because I never played the original so I can't really feel the same way as everyone else. But by seeing how everyone else is disappointed in it I can tell this was meant to be so much more.
@@cosmicentropy6358 look my guy I enjoyed the game. Compared to other games today yeah it's bad but It don't bother me cause I'm enjoying the game cause I never played it before. So far I didn't run into any problems on my end. And also I been playing story mode so I don't really pay attention to the graphics.

It sucked when it first came out. There was no ladder which made it a bunch of games people leaving and no one cared. Units would get stuck all the time and the graphics were trash.

D2R was better compared to WC3 Reforged, but does not mean it was good, D2R still has that amazon tranny, the chinese assassin, the dindu paladin and so on, stiff as shit animation when it should have been better animated, some running and attacks look like shit. played some D2R and then abandoned it.
